Hi Sylvie,
I can't locate the formula mandel_squares, which you used for the image
6MNDSQ01. Be so kind and post the formula again.

I use the "" method to avoid the txt extention problem.
EXAMPLE : save as "mckenzie.par"
The rest of the suggestion is correct though. I grant it is damn
short sited of MicroSoft to have this txt thing as a default but then
again it it MicroSoft, short sitedness is their stock-in-trade.
Anyway this works for me. It ain't perfect but then again it's what's

Many thanks to Sylvie Gallet and Jo Weber for the colormaps they
posted for my Phoenix_Atan formula image. The more nice ones I get
the less you'll have to put up with the same old ones from me. :)

I'm back on line with my beloved Eudora instead of those cluge-ie email

does something strange with the paths which I don't understand.....and it only
cost me a steak dinner for him......well....and a strawberry pie too.

I can paste again so I'm sending along this par which even my kid thought was
great (he is very ho-hum usually.) It's from one of Paul Carlson's formulas
posted earlier this month and which is yielding lots of fabulous images. The
color map is a variation I did on one of Carl's maps and gives an intersting
back-lit look to the image.

I'm still catching up with the email list and some of the messages that got
buried when I changed puters. Here is a re-coloration of Paul Carlson's par
plus a bunch of maps in two colors to play with. When I first saw Paul's 2
color maps I started making a whole series of my own variations. They are very
useful for busy images. I like a soft color pallet and I hope you enjoy
these.

Subject: (fractint) Colouring Books rot the mind - thank you!
I appreciate the response to my posting and request for colourings; Thanks!
Of those I received I felt that "Working3" was the more successful ("Working1"
has that flat patch in the middle which sort of spoils it). And of the
colouring schemes, Wizzle's "Julia7.map"- the purple and green one -
probably came closest to whatever preconceptions I may have had. But I
would also have to
say that Linda Allison's two suggested colourings took me by surprise and
were also very attractive.
I would also like to thank those who supplied references to map collections
and design resources - I will follow them up (I've been concentrating
lately on trying to learn Illustrator 7 - from scratch).
Thanks again,
Morgan.
Here's an attempt of my own - it doesn't really rate, so feel free to snigger!

Thanks Wizzle - very nice image! And this colormap is great for use
with a lot of the stuff I've posted. I tried it on the 5 images I
posted the pars for with the Mandel_Squares formula and it turned them
into works of art!
And thanks also for the Atan Maps - beautiful color combinations!

Hi Team Fractals:
Thanks goes to fractal artist Don Archer who graciously gave permission
for me to send you the enclosed file which I found at his Web site.
I hope there's no problem in reading the file. Usually I enter text
directly into e-mail as I'm doing here, but when I tried to do it with
Don's file, it had a lot of boxes added and ends of lines removed. So, I
sent it as an attachment, telling Netscape Navigator to convert it to
plain text before sending it on to you. If that doesn't work, I'll retry
sending it as an attachment again, but telling Netscape to send it "as
is."
I'm a big fan of Don's artwork and just want to share it with you.
Regards,
Bob
