Don,
I guess this is carb day so here goes. With all those modifications I'm not sure what main
you should use, but would guess around a 135-140 depending how modified your air box is. Most
every one with modified engines are installing a JX needle and a JX spring from Thumper
Racing. The stock pilot should be a 37.5, and should be fine, but am sure you need to adjust
the fuel screw while its running, so a TEE handle is also required, also from Thumper Racing.
The surging is most likely caused from fuel starvation, so believe your headed in the right
direction. Good luck Norm

John,
The TEE handle is a must on a DR350SE to adjust the idle fuel mixture
because the top of the
starter is very close to the bottom of the carb where the adjuster is
located. On the dirt
only model it is possible to adjust it with a very short screwdriver and
gloves, but it's not
real pretty and you adjust it after the engine is warmed up, so one
normally comes away with
some pretty warm paws. To adjust it on your SE model you first need to
drill out the tamper
proof plug thats hiding it. It is located on the bottom rear of the
carb venture in front of
the slide. The same TEE handle fits all DR350 models 1990 thru 1999. In
most cases, the fuel
screw will not require adjustment if you ride below 3000ft, and NO
Modifications have been
done to the engine, or airbox, including the removal of the rubber
snorkel in the top of the
airbox. T-handles are available at Thumper Racing for approx $16.00ea.

Subject: (dr350) Quieter exhaust?
My Yoshimura muffler is getting louder and louder. I tried to repack it,
but that made no difference. I am getting embarrassed to ride with my more
responsible friends.
Is there a reasonably quiet aftermarket muffler for the DRS350 that still
provides some performance?
Thanks in advance.

To Norman Kouba, Thank you ,thank you, thank you, this is what I was
saying as I was climbing this wet red dirt hill mixed with football size
rocks
with several twisties thrown in just to make it interesting referring
to that rear tire you let me have it worked very well. We road hard for
2 and a half days and the traction and trails couldn't have been better
we put on about 110 miles at Fouts Springs ca. My rear brake rotor is
like yours looks like polished chrome but very smooth still and has a
good feel to it, of course my original one was so bad I forgot what a
new one feels like. I found out that Jimmy Button is running this same
plating on aluminum rotors. Will get back to you later

Subject: Re: (dr350) Fork oil
Hi Chris, I would recommend 7wt cartrige fork oil and no higher than 5
and 1/2 inches from the top of the forks with the springs out and forks
fully compressed. While you have the springs out put some stiffer ones
back in this will save you the hassel of doing it over I have been
through this with my own I weigh 188lbs and run 44kg/mm in mine and I
love them.

Subject: (dr350) clutch slippage
I rode my bike today and noticed the clutch slipping
when it was cold. This was the coldest weather I have
yet to ride my DR in(35deg).I use the Castrol full
synth oil.Is it normal for a clutch to slip when it's
really cold(the air and motor temp both cold)? It got
better as the bike warmed up to oper. temp.
