Subject: (dr350) I need a DRZ400!
My wife and I are gonna sell all our older bike and get new ones. I hope to
get the new DRZ400 :). If any one on the list is interested here they are.
1997 XR200 Bought new in 98. Very low hours. Wife ridden. Baja head light
added. $2,500 .
1995 Suzuki DR350S Bought new in 96. Estimated hours, less than 200. Big
Gun exhaust. K&N filter. Pro Taper bars. Bark busters. $2,100.00
1990 Husqvarna WXE 510. Cosmetically descent. Runs great. Could use fork
seals. This bike will pull stumps! $1,500.00
1986 Honda Night Hawk 700. Looks very clean. Low miles. Runs strong but
could use carb clean and balance. $1,700.00
1986 Suzuki DR100 Looks are average. Runs good but could stand some carb
work. $500.00
We would also consider a trade on a 96 or newer KX 100 or KX 80 big wheel. If
anyone is interested please E-mail us at RALD277@AOL.COM.
Thanks

I would not get your hopes up for getting a DRZ400 soon, I think they will
be in the same boat as the Yamaha YZ/WR400. The dealers will only get a few
for the first year, so they will all be pre-ordered for a cost that is over
the sticker price. I did sit on the DRZ400 at the Del Mar Motorcycle show's
Suzuki booth. It was nice, has better ergonomics than the DR350, and seemed
lighter than my TTR-250. (I guess that's all I can say about, since I only
got to sit on it.) I would not mind getting one a few years from now. I
would lace up some 17" wheels, and bolt on a over-size Brembo disk and
caliper, for a slick looking super motard bike.

anybody who went aftermarket want to sell theirs?
Thanks,

Hi
My name is Joe. I have a 93 DR350S that I purchased to relearn some =
dirt skills, possibly with an eye towards riding in Mexico in the =
future. The bike is lightly modified, with an IMS tank and Acerbis =
handguards and I am currently using Metzler Unicross tires. Currently I =
live in Beaverton Oregon and do most of my riding in the coastal =
mountains. I have been riding for thirty years and my other current =
bikes are a Honda GL1500 Goldwing and a Ducati 900 Monster.
The bike seems tough, able to climb and run well through tight =
trails. My original idea was to trade it for a KLR650 after a summer of =
trail riding for familiarization but at the moment I'm glad its no =
heavier than it is, especially when I have to pick it up.
One thing I have noticed is that it seems pretty 'twitchy' at =
highway speeds above 50 or so, which I blame mostly on the Metzler front =
tire. Is there an acceptable compromise tire which will yield stable =
street handling and still work OK off road?
Thanks for any input and looking forward to sharing info with you =
all. =20
Regards
Joe

Subject: RE: (dr350) HI, brief introduction
Joe:
The IRC GP 110 tire is a pretty good all-around tire. It is better than
the stock tire both off-road and on. It really shines on the street, but does
OK off-road. Actually, it does pretty well off-road, as long as it stays dry.
As soon as things get slick, it's pretty scary off-road.
Another tire I have run on my DR is the Kenda Trackmaster II. They work
very well off-road, and do OK on the street; except that:
1. They take a LONG time to break in. Until then, they are very slippery on
the road.
2. Even after they are broken in, they are scary on a wet road.
3. On a dry road, properly broken in, they work well, but feel funny - it
doesn't inspire confidence.
Most likely, these two tires are at opposite ends of the bias spectrum, ie.
the GP110 would be 70/30 on/off road, and the Kenda 30/70 on/off. There are
other tires closer to the middle of the spectrum. I all depends on where you
are going to be riding it most of the time.
One nice thing about both of the above tires is they are cheap, less than
$100 per set.
