John,
I don't know of any one who wants to trade for a lighter one, but I believe Jesse at
Kientech Enginering has a few new Eibach 7.6 KG springs for sale for approx. $90.00 each and
he takes plastic if that helps. His address is in the 2nd Cc: box. Norm

Hi all,
After looking at the list archives and other places I was anxious to squeeze
a few more HP out of my 99 DR350 dirt. I took off the air box cover to test
the results and couldn't even get the bike to start. Replaced the cover and
after 3 or 4 more kicks it cranked right up. Glad I didn't cut anything.
Obviously there is something I am missing, should I fool with the carb
adjustments? Everything is stock. Any suggestions very appreciated!.

Subject: (dr350) feedback on fat MT-21; wreck
Hey guys-
I've ridden about 100 miles on my new Pirelli MT-21s. First time I've had
such a knobby tire on front. Good news is that the front didn't produce any
vibes or weird handling on the road. I also can tell that it bites in
sand/gravel like the IRC GP-110 never would. The rear, the largest that
Pirelli makes (130 or 140?/90/19) barely fits in there, and it grabs alot
better than the next smaller size I had on there before.
Thanks to all this extra grip....I managed to do a little hi-side yesterday.
I was zipping along through a flat grassy field, and decided to lock up
the rear to see how differently it might slide. Well, a few seconds later,
after sliding 10 feet or so while leaning to the left...front tire turned
slightly in the direction I was sliding, I dont know if the rear and/or
front bit harder all the sudden, or if I turned handlebar back the other
way. anyway, went down hard on my right side w/ leg under bike. I thought
I had really screwed my knee for a minute, but got up to find that it was
OK. I do think I've broken a little bone in my foot though....will get Xray
later today. I feel stupid!
BTW, I went down pretty hard/fast, taking quite a blow on the Alumilite 7000
bars and Acerbis handguards (plastic only, not w/ the metal insert). Bars
and handguards laughed at the fall...no problems. A fall of half that had
previously bent my stock bars.

Neil,
Any major adjustment to the amount of air your bike receives is going to
require an adjustment to the amount of fuel it needs. That is where the extra
HP comes from. This also applies to changing the exhaust system. Your best
bet is to decide what mods you want and do them all at once then have your
carb re-jetted. Or if you are feeling really frisky you can tinker with the
jetting your self. Hop this helps a little.

Steve and others
I use a Garmin III with the moving map on a mount from ACool which
mounts on the handlebars, has a velcroe bottom and a strap for holding
it on. I also have installed a hook up to run the GPS off the DR's
batt. Really works out great. This map doesn't show the back roads but
you can enter way points found in Street Atlas by Delorme and it's
pretty close on the GPS. It also ranges out so you can see US And Major
State highways and gives you an idea where your at in relation to them.
I do not travel without it on either my BMW R11R or the DR350SE....
(stock 'cept for seat/gastank/adjustable idle screw) ;-)..
