Kurt,

I currently own a DR650 and agree that having discussions for all classes of DR's would be great.  I enjoy reading about all the solutions for the 350's as some can be transferred to the 650 or other ideas are generated.

There are already a good amount of emails generated each day.  I think it would be better to have separate list serves for different cc's to which people can individually subscribe.  This way, for those of us who are just
interested in our own model don't have to have our inboxes cluttered with stuff to erase.

How about putting DR650 in the subject line for posts that only deal with
DR650's and then people can filter these msgs to their trash file if they
have no interest?

As a note the KLR650 list really deals with the KLR250, Kawi Sherpa, and
KLX650 - at this point there have been no major problems with too many posts
for bikes other than the KLR650.

    A similar system was tried on one of the BMW lists, but to
no avail. Most people are to lazy to bother doing something
to help others just a little bit.

Heston:

I have put flush mounts on the sides of the rear fender of my DR.  I have
never broken these.  Your local motorcycle shop should be able to guide
you.  I think the manu. is Emgo (very cheap).  I went through four sets of
signals in the front before I put on the Acerbis and to date no breakage.
The Acerbis look great, and work better than stock in crashes.  Both the
signals hold up better, and the brush guards protect your hands better than
stock.

Please remember front a previous response, you can't put these on stock
bars!

Just got a 94 350SE.  Gonna put hand guards on it.  Should I fork out
the extra $$ for the Acerbis w/ built in signals?  It would seem that in
a crash that the handle bars would sufficiently protect the normal front
signals, unlike the well-exposed rear ones.  Anyone with exp. in
smashing front signals?

I wish I had that tool installed today when I worked on my bike.  I raised
my needle clip up a notch because the plug was black.  However, I could only
make a guess at the air screw adjustment while the carb was off.  My
airscrew is out two turns now.

I wish I could have adjusted it further without taking the carb off again
but I guess I'll do that tomorrow.

Excellent, the temperature here is cooling off a bit too.  The real riding
season is about to begin.

This sounds like a great tool.  I worked on my bike today and adjusted the
airscrew and raised the needle clip a notch.  I'm fighting an uphill battle
it seems.  My hesitation is between 3600-3900 rpm's now.  I have the
airscrew out two turns now and the needle on the 4th notch down.  I can't
beat this thing.  The hesitation is still there.  It gets less and less but
the damn thing won't go away.

At this point I don't know if I'm compensating or actually solving the
problem.

Tomorrow, the carb is coming off for the buzzillionth time and I'm gonna
soak it in solvent to make sure no debris is caught up anywhere.  My gut
feeling tells me it won't make a difference.  Perhaps I should take the
airscrew out another turn or so.  I'm beginning to take desperation shots at
the dart board which is exactly what I didn't want to do.

Yeah, I put the stock pilot jet back a couple days ago.  I think this helped
my hesitation problem.  My needle clip is also on the 4th groove down from
top.

I'm taking the carb off again today, so I will adjust the airscrew further.
