Ok, I have been brought back from the dark side. After riding Brian
Nolastname's DR350 tonight, I have seen the light. If you would have told me
that a DR350 could be set up to ride like a full blown cross country racer,I
would have called you crazy. But Brian's DR was a kick in the ass!!!! I was
totally amazed at how the suspension handled. I've rode the yz400 and I swear
his 350 handled every bit as good as a 400. And if it weren't for the 35
extra pounds from the fuel, I think I could have wheelied the bike in fourth.
Thanks Brian for the ride. I can't wait to get started on my bike.
Thanks again to all on the list.Your information has been very insightful,
and I look for to reading the opinions of everyone on the list.

Well, I'm glad you liked the bike, Dave. I figure I have about $800-900 in
aftermarket parts on the bike (engine & frame are still stock), and
considering the low buy in price ($2500 for my excellent-shape, low miles 95
SE earlier this year in TX), I think these DR's of ours are excellent bikes
once tinkered with a bit. Still a lot less $$ than a stock XR400 or YZF400.
Plus our DRs have a 6th gear that is actually hiway friendly, even if you
change the sprockets for improved hill climbing.
By the way guys, this guy Dave that I met for the first time & rode with
yesterday is one heck of a dirt rider! We went to a place w/ alot of deep
sand, and he flew on it while I crawled. Proof once again that its 80%+
rider instead of bike! That sand is scarry to me...seems like just when I
get going fast enough to "get on top" of the sand, I get freaked by the
washy feel of the front wheel. I think old Dave can teach me alot.
