How is the accessory gel seat for the DR350SE. I got a quote for $150, is
it worth it? Or is there another seat that is comfortable for the long
rides, that is better/or cost less?
I rode three hours from San Diego to Big Bear Lake, and my butt was numb. I
guess I am use to my street bikes and scooters.

I mean have Corbin modify it when they build it. They don't charge extra for this as long
as it is at time of sale. We started this on the KLR and it has gotten to the point that
they now ask customers buying a KLR Corbin do you want the standard or modified? We have
them build it "without the dip". The person we've been dealing with is Raul who is manager
of customer service. If you're ready to give it a shot tell him you were talking with some
of the KLR people about what they do and ask if he could build a DR seat the same way. If
you look at the pictures on the web they look like the same design. I think it'll work.

I sat on Gino's in Moab (he's on his way to Wallyworld right now) and it felt quite a bit
better than the stocker. Probably would be all most people would need and it retains the
narrowness which most will find necessary for onroad. I'm more interested in making my DR
a light version of the KLR, kind of a "pocket' adventure tourer and for that you can't
beat the width of the Corbin for comfort. BTW, I expect a Corbin will be about $250-260.

I rode a KLR 650 this weekend. We were dual sporting on forest service =
roads and some wider gravel roads. The bike had new MT21 tires.
I was surprized at how stable the bike felt. Very compact, and it felt =
planted. The bike felt heavy, but was easy to manuver. Despite the =
weight, it seemed to slow fairly well. The engine was very nice. =
Smooth power delivery, minimal vibration. Good fairing. =20
However, above a certain speed, and the bike started to feel like it was =
loosing control as, presumably, the tires bounced and lost contact with =
the road.
I am comparing this bike to my DRs 350/400 and my Adventure. Both those =
bikes can be ridden faster because of the suspension that can hold the =
tires on the road better as the road gets bumpier. (Both have WP =
suspension.) The Suzuki is quite a bit smaller, the Adventure is much, =
much taller. =20
Going that 10 - 15 mph faster demands a lot more concentration. If your =
not in a big hurry, and especially if you want to enjoy the scenery, the =
KLR will get you there. IMHO.

Hi. Does anyone know of any upcoming rides in the
northeast? I heard rumors of a dualsport ride in Micheaux
State Forest (sp?) in central PA, but can't find any "real"
information (as far as I know, Micheaux is ATV and
snowmobile only, and motorcycles aren't allowed).
Thanks, Gaylord, '96 SE

Subject: (dr350) Luggage Rack
This "mail list" thing is new to me. Sure hope this is how it works!
I own a '97 DR350SEV. I'm looking for a luggage rack for the back. I
see one that Suzuki sells for $79.90 that looks pretty good. Are there
any better built, better priced ones out there? How about a bag to
mount on the rack? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jim
