Well the DR350 deal went down the tubes. The dealer wanted my brand new '99
GS500 - 10 months of warranty or so left ($500CDN of accessories I had for
it), $1000CDN cash and for me to truck my bike 1200kms to him. In return he
would give me a '98 DR350 with cosmetic damage, no warranty and maybe he'd
put mirrors on it for me.
If I am going to get ripped off I might as well do it locally.....I'll keep
looking in the papers around town.
Thanks for the info everyone sent. This list makes choosing a DR350 an easy
decision. Any CDN DR350's out there people want to part with?
Cheers,
Vik

Tony,
Something caught my attention. You mention that you were in Nevada last
week on a rented DR350S. That wouldn't have happened to have been
Nevada Motorcycle Adventures would it? My reason for asking is that I
took a tour with them a couple of years ago and noticed that same thing
about the DR350S. Ithink the primary problem with using the street
version of that bike at that location might be the altitude. The
average elevation on the high desert there is around 4000ft above sea
level. I believe that the DR350S is set up from Suzuki to run at sea
level where there is more oxygen.

Jim,
GWNF is in the northwestern part of Virginia. The two closest towns
would be Harrisonburg and Staunton. It is west of there, about 15
miles on the VA/WV border. If you are going out there, I would suggest
getting a Delorme map of the state of virginia. If I did not have one
of those, I would have been so lost. By the way, if you are looking
for some scenic riding, I would suggest staying in a section of the
forest called Todd Lake. It is centrally located and there are many
fire roads accessible from it. The ORV area in that forest is simply
that, there is not much easily accessible camping in that area unless
you have a jeep or a four wheeler. A 4x4 F250 extended cab long bed is
just a little too much to take down some of those trails. If you want
some more details email me, I might be able to give you some directions
and more specifics.
