Darren,
My wife's 5'-2" on a good day, and I originally bought her a Yamaha XT350
because it was lower than the Suzuki. Ended up selling it, & that's a long
story, and bought her a new DR350. The XT was her first bike, and I thought
that after more experience the taller bike wouldn't matter as much. I
immediately bought the Kouba links and installed them before we took the
bike home. That helped, but still too high. Backed off the rear shock as
far as I could to lower it some more, and it was getting better, although
to me it seems a little spongy now. Finally tore apart the seat and removed
about an inch of foam over the lower half of the seat. Now she does just
fine.

Subject: (dr350) mods to my 95 DR350SE (jetting & suspension)
I've been playing w/ my recently acquired SE over the weekend and I
love it!
First things I want to get taken care of: carb & suspension.
I pulled the plug out of the top of the airbox, & then decided to go
ahead and cut out a larger opening. After cleaning filter & putting
back together....WOW! big difference! Running VERY lean now so I
need to get the getting right. Anybody have the specifics of pilot &
main jet #s, and there was something about a different needle?
Also, at the local MX playground, where I DONT catch air (yet
anyway!), I saw a BIG difference in the suspension compared to my
stock 94 XR650L. Very soft & bouncy. Riding over some whoops pretty
slow, I could tell that it wouldn't take much to bottom this baby out.
What is the best thing to do with the existing components? Do you
put heavier springs AND RT cartridge emulators in the forks? Can the
shock be significantly improved? I've never done any suspension work
on a bike before, and am pretty ingorant in this area.
