What's the substitute oil filter for the DR650's? I don't mind paying extra
for th Suzuki product, I just hate driving 30-miles to get one if it's
available at Advance or Ought-to-Zone.

Dear Bill,
My name is Al Roof and I live in South Crowders Creek, NC (Near
Charlotte). I am President of the 100-member Blue Ridge Pathfinders
Motorcycle Club, Inc., which I founded as a dual sport club in 1991.
Along with a heavy slant towards dual sporting, the club now encompasses
all aspects of off-road motorcycling and ATV trail riding.
I am also the promoter of the Honda Hoot Carolina Dual Sport Adventure
Ride (my third), so I was glad to see that you are entered! I look
forward to meeting you there so that we can discuss future riding
opportunities.
Although the majority of The Blue Ridge Pathfinders' membership is based
in the Charlotte metro area, we have members from Florida, New Jersey,
Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. We even have
some members right near you. Derek Reavis, who rides off-road only,
lives right there in Simpsonville. David Garland lives in Seneca, and is
an avid dual sport enthusiasts who knows of trails and back roads that
I've never even seen. And, Gerald Jones' Upstate Cycle in Greenville is
a loyal Commercial Member of the club.....a great little shop I might
add!
Now for some propoganda. I canÆt think of any better way to learn about
preserving, promoting and enjoying OHV recreation in North Carolina than
to join our Blue Ridge Pathfinders Motorcycle Club, Inc.. The Club is
comprised of individuals, families, and commercial members. Currently
there are about 100 members in the club, and we always welcome new
members.
Meetings are usually held on the second Tuesday of each month and start
at 7:00 p.m.. Non-members are welcome. Call ahead for meeting
locations.
The most important reason to get involved is to help us build a group
large enough, educated enough and powerful enough to make an impact on
the future of trails in the Carolinas and the country. In 1995, we,
along with the North Carolina Trail Riders, The Smokey Mountain ORV Club,
and the Unifour Trail Bike Club, established the North Carolina
Off-Highway Vehicle Association (NOVA). We work in cooperation with The
Blue Ribbon Coalition, The National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation
Council and The AMA in order to stay informed and influential.
In our efforts to insure access to public and private lands, we promote
the TEAM STEALTH concept by encouraging riders to get the quietest
machine they can, then make it quieter.
Another reason to join is to have a chance to ride some of the finest
trails in the Carolinas and spend time with other people who enjoy trail
riding. The Club frequently conducts group trail riding adventures to
various public riding areas in the southeast, National Dual Sport Trail
Rides and more.
As a club member you receive The Blue Ridge Pathfinder, our official
newsletter, is published monthly, and contains details of past rides and
happenings, plus provides a calendar of events to keep members informed
of upcoming work days, planned rides, races, and other items of interest.
Members can also place free classified ads for bikes, parts, apparel and
accessories.
You also receive a membership directory that lists each club member,
where they are from, their phone number, type of riding preferred and
best times for riding. In the directory you will find maps and directions
to the a variety of riding areas in the Carolinas and Virginia. The
directory features ads for our Commercial Members so that you can support
the businesses that support us. You may receive discounts on parts and
products from select dealers.
Dues provide the essential resources with which club activities are
conducted and for:
ò Maintenance and improvement of:
TNT Motorsports Park
The Wayehutta OHV Area
The Brown Mountain OHV Area
The Uwharrie OHV Trail System
ò Publication and distribution our monthly newsletter
ò Publication and distribution of our Membership Directory.
ò Expenses for members to attend workshops and conferences vital to the
clubÆs activities.
ò Video tapes and training materials for teaching safe, responsible
riding and more!

Subject: (dr) Driving in Bolivia
Does someone know what happens if one tanks leaded fuel in a DR 350 SE
1999. I will drive in Bolivia, and I'm not sure if I alway get unleaded
fuel. As the
octane can be quite low in Bolivia, shoul I take a bottle of octane
booster or mount a thiker cylinder head sealing so that the compression
is not too high! Any tip on this is appreciated!
Thanks!

Subject: (dr) Looking for Hepco Becker Panniers
Howdy. Trying to find a set of Hepco Becker Panniers has been a real
experience so far. Ride West BMW, which is supposed to be a distributor,
doesn't have a clue. My German is not sehr gut so reading the Hepco site is
problematic. Does anyone have any suggestions? This would be for a 1990
Suzuki DR650. TIA
