Subject: (dr) (dr350) Super Motard?
I'm planning a dual sporting trip in central Colorado this summer.
While there, we plan to do some street riding as well. I can either take my
HawkGT in addition to the DR, forcing us to pull a trailer 2600 miles, or
get a spare set of wheels and try the Motard thing with my DR350S. Has
anyone done this, and have any advice one way or the other?
Thanks for the help
Patrick

Is that legal? Does it give you a hangover? Forgive my ignorance, but
what's the "Motard thing"?

I have a question, Sunday while I was riding as I held in the clutch the idle
was way too high, there was nothing between the idle adjuster and the stop
(like dirt ect..) I cranked on the throttle a few times and it went back to
normal it happened last year too I put on a new throttle cable before Sunday
I think it's something with my carb but don't know where to start. Any clues
??

Super Motard is something that grew out of a made for TV racing series from
the 70's. The course consisted of dirt, pavement, and jumps. The series put
some of the best riders from all aspects of racing on similar bikes,
basically big dirt bikes with wide street tires, bigger brakes. It died out
in America, but caught on in Europe, and is making a comeback here.
This web site gives a short description of a typical Super Motard bike

Hi Jason, Is your DR a Dirt model or Dual purpose model? the Dirt model
carbs will over time wear the slide causing this hi Idle syndrome the slide
can be replaced very easily a new slide is about 26.00 and this generally
cures this problem. I have them if you need one.

Scott,
Here's some more teasing about this year's 4th Annual Devil's Creek Dual
Sport Weekend, July 29/30 in Brooksville, Florida.
Entry forms will be in the upcoming newsletter going out early next week!
Saturday will be an Adventure Tour suitable for two up, beginners, people
with big dual sport bikes (KLR, BMW, Triumph, etc)and those that just want
to ride and explore on some very scenic paved and dirt roads in the area.
The Saturday ride includes a scavenger hunt game where you can participate
and win prizes like a gear bag, camelbak hydration system and much more!
Also Included in the entry for Saturday is a BBQ dinner, along with a ride
and admission to the Dade City Raceway to watch the MX races Saturday night.
Sunday will be the tougher dirt oriented ride, depending on the weather
could be wet, could be dry. According to the map, we're looking at 120+
miles (actual miles may vary, once again, depending on the weather). Don't
judge this 120 miles by the 150 easy miles of daytona. It's Not even close!
(especially if it gets wet!) There will be a shorter main route with a
longer (15-20 mile) optional section for the experienced riders. Plan on a
60-70 mile fuel range. The sunday ride will be doable but a hand full on a
KLR650, and not recommended for bikes bigger than the KLR650. Bring your
aggressive street legal knobbies, this is shaping up to be the best Creek
yet!
I encourage ya'll to do both days. It's not so much the riding, but the
people. The new friends you'll meet, the things you'll learn about bikes and
techniques, and just having a good 'ole time with a bunch of new
motorcyclin' buddies! If you do both days you can have the entire dual sport
spectrum, from easy road riding to challenging trail riding, and everything
in between. If you treat this as a motorcycling happening more than just a
ride, you'll get the full flavor of what we're trying to do. It's the bikes.
It's the riding. But most of all, its the people.
All entrants will recieve: an event t-shirt
saturday entry includes:
Scavenger Hunt & prizes
BBQ Dinner
Admission to MX Races
Sunday entry Includes:
Continental Breakfast
Lunch
Once again, look for more details and an entry flyer in the upcoming
newsletter, due out next week. Those of you on the list who have not yet
subscribed to The Southern Dual Sporting Newsletter and have not joined the
WDSRC, you can do so by going to our website at
http://www.geocities.com/Baja/Canyon/5245
Looking forward to seeing ya'll there!

Hey list,
Does anyone have any advice as to a handlebar that is similar in height,
width, and bend to that of the original bar on a DR 350S? I've been
looking at Renthals but I'm not sure of the current height and bend of
my current bar. I've opted to get new bars now that I have Acerbis
rally pro handguards and dont feel like tapping the steel inserts in the
factory bars. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance, Mike in Ashland Oregon
