Subject: (dr) Running rich?
How do I correct a bike running rich(This may be my problem with stalling and
difficult starts while hot).
Set-up: '95 DR350SE
Dyno-Jet Stage 3 jetting - I only know the main jet is one size up from the
stock jet. The needle is on the 3rd notch(?).
Supertrapp 4" Pro Series Muffler - no discs! Yeh Baby!
Top cut off of airbox with stock air filter. - soon to buy a K&N
This is how I bought the bike, so I've never messed with it.

Ric,
My friend has a K&N air filter - but he can't get it installed.
I've heard alot about this on the list. Maybe others can comment.
He finally gave up and is using an Air Twin.
Just a heads up so you don't waste your hard-earned money.

I had the same problem when I bought a K&N air filter. I ended up taking it
back and getting a UNI.

Mark and all,
I put a K&N in my 98 DR350SE. No problem getting the filter in, but
aligning the bolt that holds it in is a real trick. I finally managed to
do it, but next time it comes out for cleaning I'll make a different
guide, like they have for the stock filter. You can't use that in the
K&N, perhaps that's why you had a problem. Give it another try, it does
fit!

Hi Everyone!
I'd like to replace the stock bars on my '99 350SE with some taller
ones. The two options seem to be Renthal Jimmy Button or Desert High
Bend. I thinkd the Desert High Bend are a little wider and swept back
more. Any advice on these? Will my controls reach to remount properly
on either?
Thanks,
Andy Campbell

Did you find the MC section in the DMV/Inspection rules for VA? If not I
can dig up a URL for it. Otherwise, you about need a lawyer to read it
or better yet, go ask your local inspection station. It is how they
"interpret" the rules regarding your getting the sticker. For safety
reasons, I would want the front brake to trigger the stoplamp. Switching
bikes and maybe having a friend switch bikes could lead to a bad
situation. I often times don't use or let off the rear brake on my
street bike. On the road, it seems I've had way more near misses and one
that wasn't a miss.. all from the rear end and two really bad ones
prevented by my eye being in the mirror. Its tough enough for people to
see the brake light already.

Subject: (dr) Chain tension and more low end torque.
As I still sit waiting for my service manual to show up....
Can someone tell me how to set the right chain tension?
Anybody got good ideas about how to make the DR250S walk along a little
better. A bit more like a trials bike.. I guess I'm going to do a larger
rear sprocket as it already has a 12 on the front. More low end torque
would be nice as well... I don't want to lose too much top end speed as
I'd like to be able to travel at 60 if needed.
TIA
