Hello fellow DR owners. I live up in Burlington Vermont, and have recently
purchased a 1995 DR350SE. The only thing I've done so far is to put brand
new Pirrelli's on the bike. I am interested in doing 2 modifications, one is
the larger gas tank, and the second is opening the air box. I know next to
nothing about the DR350, so I was wondering if somebody had detailed
information about replacing the air box, or simply opening it up? I love
this bike, but a few extra horses in the right place surely would not hurt.
Any info would be appreciated.

Hi Steve,

with Vortex-Airbox you will get about the same intake drone as with stock airbox with cut
top or side cover off. Under load, it is a reasonable difference to the stock airbox if you
open the throttle. If the bike runs idle, you will rarely notice it.

When you change the exhaust to FMF / Yoshimura / Ear even the idle-noise will raise a
lot. ( i doubt the hp's will as well).
Here in germany, the lawmen measure the noise at about 5000 rpm (no load). The
exhaust modification will lead to a suspended bike, airbox maybe (hope so) not!

I hope to get a hp-chart with thumper 435cc kit, Vortex, Mikuni TM36 Flatslide carb soon.
Maybe i should travel to FUCHS-dyno's in the near future :-)

I have found on my 93 DR350 that the Dunlop 752's front and rear work great,
these are the only tires I have ever put on it.  They just do so much.  Any
body know of some that are better?

roosting the soft stuff. How well do they hold up (chunking, tread wear
etc)?; do they shed the mud?; will they function okay on the occasional
harder stuff? Thanks for any advice......

Stephen I agree.In my case I had two identical year
Dr's and we purposely left one stock and moded the
other before doing both to compare results.Not
everyone is this fortunate.My particular set-up will
put bike lengths on a stock DR with no doubt.

Hello Pedro and welcome, first thing is to change your email program so that
it only

The biggest tank made for the DR is from Acerbis. It fits nicely and yields
over 4
gallons. It is also the most expensive. The third and least expensive option
is from
Clark.

Don,
I have the same bike and I myself am new to the DR. I bought it from a friend
who cut the top off the airbox and fitted an FMF pipe and Stage 3 jet kit to it.
I rode the bike before all this was done and you cannot fathom the power
difference. I bought the bike for racing it in Endoro's and don't see it ever
making it back to the street. I have purchased a plastic tank from Chase for
$150.00 which holds 4.2 gallons and believe me, it needs more tank capacity now.

I run Dunlop 756 front and back. This is an awesome tire and I never need
anything more.

It is, however, only for dirt. On the street, not only are they illegal, but
they are noisy, dangerous, and soft- which means your tread is coming off
very quickly on asphalt.

I only have about 200 miles on them so far and the wear seems minimal.

'99 dr350se
Mods so far:
the tires
cut 1" off of both ends of the handlebars
Enduro Engineering handguards
removed passenger pegs, rear fender extender, some chain guard things
removed turn signals (can easily put back on when street use is planned)
15/47 sprockets, new chain
fork comp and rebound clickers set all the way in (is just about right)

Future planned mods (in order of implementation):
FMF exhaust
re-jet
heavier fork springs
steering damper
Vortex airbox
re-jet
new wider, solid mounted footpegs
Kouba link and spring
Thumper Racing 435cc kit
re-jet

I ride in tight NJ woods, enduro stuff. These mods should be just the ticket
for this bike. Just wish I could do it all at once, it really is a good
machine.
