I'm not exactly a pro at Hornet, but from past experiences with SAM's
and AAM's, I can tell you that flying under radar limitations, works
even better than wasting your time with attempting to dodge them or even
release chaff and flare. I know it's unorthodox, and totally defeats
the purpose of the game, AND others may contest that you will still get
shot down, BUT, it works for me. Call me psycho, but I fly at
approximately 20-40 ft off the ground, at 86% thrust, and only use my
radar for a 3 to 5 second period before switching it off and flying
silent. I may only use the radar once every minute, or once every 2
minutes to keep enemies from tracking me. The key to avoiding any type
of missile being launched at you,*in my case* is to fly beyond the
bounds of the missile. Another words, if you stay low, and a missile is
launched at you, chances are, *if you know where the missile is
approahing from*, you can kick in the burners and go vertical whilst the
missile, travelling at well over Mach 2, slams into the
ground......keeping you and your plane safe......*It also works for
attacking SAM sites, but don't get stupid and try to nail a AAA gun at
20 ft......you'll just get fried.* The only problem with that, is you
need to know WHERE ALL of your enemies are located, AND, keep your radar
silent. Perhaps the rest of the Hornet players will disagree with me,
but I use what works for me, regardless of rules and regulations. After
all, rules were destined to be broken. =)
