Because I haven't heard that we have a Harvest War Steward and since today is the first day reservation can be made for Forest Service campgrounds, I took it upon myself to reserve and pay for the Box Elder Campground group areas A, B, C, D and the Administrative area for 15-17 Sept 2000 for Harvest War XI. The fee has been increased by $10.00 per area, so the total was $600.00.
The Forest Service wants a letter stating our intended use of the campground (they already know what we do, but it's a formality that we need to observe). LJ said that they didn't get a letter last year. The FS is really kind to us and makes special exceptions for us, I think we at least owe them the courtesy of writing a letter to them.
I think it's Jurgi's turn to be Steward, what do you think? The most difficult part is done. As I recall, everything else is relatively easy
Jurgi is taking time off from the SCA. He is having some finicancial stress and is looking for some Illustration jobs on the side. Which means the SCA is going to take a nose-bleed section seat for a while. I have thought about being Harvest Steward but the track record of the past Stewards is not so good. Where are they? What has happned to them?

I just freed some rivets from my helm. Not much good though, after being captive for so long. Kinda Dwarvish looking (short and misshapen.)
BTW/FYI rivets were originally called nails. A bridangine, with exposed heads on the fasteners, called and 'Allmaine rivet', was imported to England and the silly English took to calling the fasteners 'rivets'.
Let all of the shire know that on the first day of the year of the Dragon (Saturday, Februrary 5, 2000) John Charles was born to Jelme and Tamar. Mother and child are doing well. Daddy did catch the baby under the midwife's watchful eye. :-)

I contacted the Forest Service to ask LJ, the ranger that deals with us the most, about equestrian activities.
She just informed me that horses are not allowed in USFS campgrounds. I'll tell HL Yasmeena.
Question: Would the Shire be willing to host an equestrian tourney at the USU arena in October? I'd be willing to to the footwork, with some assistance from Megwen(and maybe Bart?).
HL Yasmeena thinks that having an Equestrian Tourney off-site during Harvest would be not draw the support the she would like to see.
She thinks that a tourney in October would be great. In fact, she thinks that would be a great time to have the Equestrian Championship Tournament! What a coup if we can pull this one off. The are a couple of conflicts that we need to work around, i.e. Crown Tournament and deer season.
Here's my recommendation: Use the Cache County arena after deer season and reserve the Armory or the little pavillion Rebecca and I used for the Fool's Revel we did years ago for a feast after the tourney.
