  30. Notes~ in psychoanalytlic theories, the libido is the driving force behind all
  31. human actions
  32. Summary~  A Buffy/Angel story with a few twists.  Involves characters from
  33. General Hospital, but yoiu donÆt have to watch GH to understand this fic.  I
  34. did change a thing or two around for you GH fans
  35. Disclaimer~  All characters of Buffy the Vampire Slayer belong to Joss
  36. Whendon, Mutant Enemy Productions, Kuzui Enterprises, Sandollar Productions,
  37. and 20th Century Fox.  ôSearchinÆ My Soulö belongs to Vonda Shepard and can be
  38. found on the Ally McBeal Soundtrack.  All characters of General hospital
  39. belong to ABC.

  42. Chapter 15, SearchinÆ My Soul

  44. < I've been down this road walkin' the line
  45.   That's painted by pride
  46.   And I have made mistakes in my life
  47.   That I just can't hide>

  49.     ôWe meet again, young Slayer.ö  The Master stood, shimmering, in front of
  50. her.  He walked behind her, as he had done before.  She tensed briefly.  He
  51. took his shimmering hands and placed them on her shimmering shoulders.
  52. Slowly, he bent his head to her neck.  In front of her stood Angel.  A tear
  53. ran down his cheek, but he continued to watch, making no move to help.  Buffy
  54. found herself shaking slightly.  Inhaling deeply, for what she believed to be
  55. the last time, she slowly then exhaled, calming her nerves.  The pain shot
  56. through her when the MasterÆs teeth punctured her flesh.  She fell to the
  57. ground in a heap.  No amount of CPR able to save her this time.

  60.    Got myself together, now I'm ready to sing
  61.   I've been searchin' my soul tonight
  62.   I know there's so much more to life
  63.   Now I know I can shine a light

  66.     Angel was standing over her when she opened her eyes.  ôWha...?ö  
  67.     ôYou fell asleep.  Are you alright?ö  He asked her, concerned.
  68.     ôI..the Master.  He killed me again.  Has anyone figured out how to stop
  69. him?ö
  70.     ôWeÆre still working on it.ö
  71.     She stood.  He followed her as she she walked to the group of researchers.
  72. Giles looked up as she approached them.  She met his gaze and held it for
  73. several moments before speaking.
  74.     ôAnything?ö  Her Watcher shook his head.  She nodded and walked away before
  75. he had the chance to say anything.  Buffy stopped at an open book on the
  76. table.  Sitting down, she began to read.     
  77.     ôI worried about her.ö  Angel told Giles.  They both watched her.  Turning
  78. back, Giles said,  ôAs am I, but weÆre doing all that we can.ö
  79.     ôAre we?ö

  81. < One by one, the chains around me unwind
  82.    Every day now I feel that I can leave those years behind
  83.   Oh, I've been thinking of you for a long time
  84.   There's a side of my life where I've been blind and so...>

  86.     ôDid you miss me?ö  Buffy turned, ending up face to face with the shimmering
  87. form of the Master.  
  88.     ôNo, actually, I really didnÆt.ö  She responded.  They circled each other,
  89. sizing up one another.  He came up behind her, as he had before.  He took his
  90. shimmering hands and placed them on her shimmering shoulders, sending a chilll
  91. thoughout her body.  He slowly lowered his head to her neck.  In front of her,
  92. she saw Angel running toward them.  He didnÆt seem to be gaining any ground.
  93. She took, what she thought to be her last, calming breath.  A sharp pain shot
  94. through her as the MasterÆs teeth punctured her flesh.  She heard the
  95. screaming of dust and wind.  She looked over to see a stone cross in her hand,
  96. before everything went black.

  107.     Xander yawned and rubbed his temples.  He had been staring st this book for
  108. so long that it had begun to blur together.  There was nothing about the
  109. Master in the book anyway.  He looked around him.  Giles and Angel seemed to
  110. be getting along well.  A little too well for XanderÆs liking.  In fact,
  111. everyone got along with Angel too well for XanderÆs liking.  Jenny was still
  112. dead.  Had the previous months been erased from their minds?  An old lady came
  113. up behind him, offering him a can of pop.  
  114.     ôMs. Summers suggested that you have these.ö  She said, offering a plate of
  115. cookies, brownies and twinkies.  Xander pinched himself, making sure that he
  116. was awake, before thanking her.
  117.     ôThank you very much, Mrs. Lansbury.ö  He remembered her name.  Sometimes he
  118. impressed himself.  she nodded before disappearing behind the door.  At least
  119. now he had something to keep him going.  Sugar.  ôMmmmm...ö  He mumbled.

  127.     Buffy awoke, startled.  She was asleep atop the book she had begun to read.
  128. She looked at her surroundings.  Maybe there was something to that
  129. dream....She briskly walked to where Giles and Angel were going through a
  130. stack of books. 
  131.     ôYes, Buffy?ö  Giles asked her, without looking up.
  132.     ôI had another dream.  I was holding some sort of cross...the Master bit me,
  133. then turned to dust.ö  *That* got GilesÆ attention.

  150. Welcome!  This list is for fiction related to "Buffy The Vampire 
  151. Slayer," both the TV series and the movie.  To ensure that we all get 
  152. to enjoy as much fiction as possible, please adhere to the following 
  153. guidelines, and please save them for future reference.
  154.  
  155. 1. Fiction should have Buffy characters in it and clearly be related 
  156. to Buffy.  Crossovers are great, and expected, but general 
  157. vampire/monster stories that aren't in the Buffy universe and don't 
  158. use Buffy characters belong somewhere else.
  159.  
  160. 2. Discussion of posted fiction is permitted onlist.  Please put 
  161. "DISCUSS" in your subject line.  Requests for missing story parts 
  162. should go directly to the author, and not be posted to the list.
  163.  
  164. Discussion that is not related directly to the fiction should go over 
  165. to the general Buffy list.  Discussion of fiction is expected to 
  166. follow common netiquette guidelines and use PG-13 language.
  167.  
  168. 3. No advertising of <any> items or services, Buffy related or not, 
  169. and no posting of non-story items such as .gifs, sound files, etc..  
  170. No attached files of <any> kind-- if your mailer makes your fiction 
  171. into attached files, you need to find another way to get it to the list.

  173. 4. If you're writing a story and including advance information on a 
  174. new episode, and you're posting your story earlier than the national 
  175. viewing time, please:
  176.  
  177.      **Mark the post as a "spoiler" in the subject header.  
  178.      **Leave about twelve lines (blank or with non-spoiler info) at 
  179.           the top of the post.
  180.  
  181. This ensures that anyone who doesn't like knowing about an episode 
  182. ahead of time is "protected."  :)   The blank space is for people whose 
  183. mailers automatically open up the next piece of mail, without giving 
  184. them a chance to see "spoiler" in the header.
  185.  
  186. Spoiler warnings are not necessary after the start of the episode's 
  187. national viewing time, which is currently set at 9 p.m. Mondays, 
  188. Eastern Standard Time.  Spoiler warnings are not necessary for reruns.
  189.  
  190. 5.  This list is absolutely NOT for erotic fiction.  <Nothing> stronger 
  191. than sexually PG-13 material is to be posted to the list under any 
  192. circumstances.  A story may be R rated for violence or language, however.
  193.  
  194. If you have a question about something's suitability for posting, feel 
  195. free to ask one of the listowners.  Sending sexually explicit material 
  196. will get you immediately and permanently unsubscribed.  No exceptions.

  198. 6.  By subscribing and/or posting to this list, you acknowledge that 
  199. Buffy the Vampire slayer and all characters associated with either 
  200. the televised series or the motion picture were created by Josh Whedon 
  201. and are owned by Mutant Enemy productions, Kuzui Productions, 
  202. Sandollar Productions, and 20th Century Fox.  All stories posted to 
  203. this list are for entertainment purposes only, are not sold for profit 
  204. of any kind, and are not intended to infringe on any copyrights.

  206. 7.  When posting stories to the list, please follow the following 
  207. formatting guidelines
  208. - --No story parts longer than 250 lines
  209. - --No lines longer than 75 characters
  210. - --Turn off your "smart quotes"-- many readers receive these as garbage 
  211. or weird symbols
  212. - --Put the title of the story in the subject header, indicate if it's a 
  213. multipart story, and if so what part this is.  Example:   Buffy Meets 
  214. Godzilla (2/65) indicates that this post is part two of a 65 part story.

  216. 8. If a story is rated "R" for language/violence, indicate this in an 
  217. introduction.  For example, "There's a really bloody fight scene at 
  218. the end of this part" or "if you don't like dismemberment, stop 
  219. reading now!"  If there's <any> chance that someone might be disturbed 
  220. by something in your story (even if it's not rated R) please include 
  221. some kind of warning up front.

  223. 9.  And last, but not least, the listowners reserve the right to deny 
  224. subscription (new, renewed, or continued) to the list for any 
  225. individual(s).

  227. PLEASE NOTE:  not following any or all of these rules will get you 
  228. the following:

  230. **First offense:  offender is unsubscribed for one week.  
  231. **Second offense:  offender is unsubscribed to the Buffyfic list for a 
  232. minimum of three months.  
  233. **If the offender returns and does it again, they're offlist 
  234. permanently.
