Sorry to disrupt the list. I has about 5 proofreaders reading my non-Buffy
story (about 6 teenagers who get in an accident on the way to a ski lodge for
Winter Break) and somehow I lost there names. If anyone on the list was

Subject: BUFFYFIC: "The Cure" (6/14)

DISCLAIMER: I don't own Buffy or any of the other wonderful characters in
the Buffyverse.  I am using them without the permission of the people who
do own them who are not going to sue me because I am not making any money
off this.  Joss Whedon, WB, Mutant Enemy, Kusui and Sandollar own the Buffy
characters.

RATING: Probably PG

SUMMARY:  Okay, well this takes place while Ms. Calendar is still alive,
but Angel is evil, so probably Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered.  It's
another "Angel gets his soul back" story which I wrote to convince myself
that Angel could be good again.  It's kind of long and I'm sorry about that
you all.

AUTHOR'S MESSAGE:  To start with, I labelled the last part wrong, it was
actually part 5, not part 4.  Anyways, this dedication is going out to
Jeanie the Tortoise-Fly, and to all my fellow Canadians on the list.  If
you are Canadian, e-amil me, I want to know how many of us there are.  To
everyone, don't expect any more parts until Monday, I'm going on vacation.

On with the show

The Cure (6/14)

Angel paced back and forth, eagerly awaiting sunset.

"Angel, love.  Come out and play," Dru said through the door.

"Coming Dru," Angel replied.  He didn't really love Dru.  He never really
had.  She'd just been an obsession.  But he never got tired of making Spike
jealous.  It was so easy.

"What do you want to play Dru?" Angel asked.  He came out of the room and
grabbed her hands.

"I want to dance, but Spike wont' dance with me."

"I'll dance with you Dru," Angel replied, grabbing Dru and spinning her
into the main room where spike was sitting in his chair.

Spike glared at Angel as he spun Dru and she laughed.  When they came to a
stop, Dru walked over to Spike.

æWhat do you want to eat tonight Spike?  Someone young?  Someone old?" Dru
asked him.

"What I want is to be able to hunt for myself again."

"To bad you're in the chair Spike.  I'm going to get Buffy a present.  The
body of a certain red-haired hacker," Angel said.

"Can I come Angel?  Can I?" Dru asked, getting excited.

"Sure, baby.  As soon as the sun sets," Angel smiled, taking satisfaction
in Spike's anger.

Jenny fell into a chair, completely exhausted.  The training the elderwoman
had spoken of was physically tiring.

"Take a break Janna.  Have something to eat and get a drink.  Our work is
difficult, but we're almost through.  I will find out how far they are in
finding the spell.  We will meet here in half an hour," the elderwoman
walked off.

Jenny remained in her chair. <<Wow, this is much harder than I expected.>>

A few moments later a woman walked in carrying a tray.  The woman was
younger than Jenny.

"Here Janna.  The elderwoamn told me to give this to you.  She said you
would be hungry.  I'm Alice, by the way.  How are you feeling?" Alice asked.

"I'm okay.  Tired, but okay.  Thanks for the food."  Jenny started eating.
She polished off every crumb.

"Wow, you must have been really hungry."

"Yeah, the training is pretty intense."

"Why are you doing the training?" Alice asked.

"I need to cast a spell," Jenny replied simply.

"What spell?  Why?  To whom?  Oh, I'm sorry, I really don't have any right
to ask you all these questions."

"That's okay.  I guess a lot of people are curious.  I just show up here,
out of the blue and immediately plunge into training.  You have heard the
stories of Angelus?"

"Of course.  Everyone in the tribe knows the stories."

"Well, I was sent to watch him.  To make sure the curse still held.  In the
process, I got to know both him and a group of people he was involved with.
 Angel saved my life.
"However, when we gave him his soul, the curse had a small flaw.  If Angel
experienced even a moment of true happiness, he would lose his soul.  Angel
loved a girl, but now that his soul is gone, he's breaking her heart.  I
want to make it up to her by restoring his soul."

Alice nodded, and without a word, she leaned froward and gave Jenny a hug.
Alice picked up the tray.

"Good luck."

The vampire who stood on watch to wait for sunset came into the room.

"The sun is down," he announced and left the room.  Angle smiled and jumped
off the table he had been perched on.  Dru got up from her chair next to
Spike.

"Let the games begin," Angel said, grabbing Dru's hand.  Spike looked upset.

 "Don't worry Spike, we'll bring you something nice," Angel reassured
Spike.  Angel picked Dru up and swung her around by the waist.

"Let's party!"

be a tad difficult to understand at first, since it takes place
ten years into the future, and IÆm not telling you whatÆs
happened in advance. IÆm going to reveal that as time
goes on in the story. I love to get feedback, except when
my mailbox explodes, which is often, but send it anyway!

Part Eight: "Phone Chain"

"Hello?"

Buffy threw a few shirts into a large suitcase and motioned
for Angel to do the same. "Giles? This is Buffy again. Listen,
I talked to Cordelia, and she said-"

"She called me, Buffy."

Buffy was secretly relieved. "Oh! Are youà"

"Yes, IÆm coming. I know itÆs important. In fact, it sounds
extremely important. I hope we can be of use to her and the
new slayer."

"What did she tell you?"

"Just a Latin prophesy similar to-"

The baby was crying again, and Angel left the room quickly.

"Similar to what?"

"What was that sound?"

"Oh, thatÆs just Wi-"

"What?"

Buffy sat down, and the cries were still. "Oh my God. I
never told you, did I?"

"What didnÆt you tell me?"

She waited. "That was my daughter, Giles."

"Buffy, why didnÆt you tell-" He stopped mid sentence as the
answer and the past came rushing back to haunt him. "Oh."

"You can uhà say hello at CordeliaÆs."

"YouÆre bringing her?"

"Family vacation. We donÆt get out much. Hey- maybe if we get
this puzzle solved soon enough, we can go skiing or something!"

"Buffy, my leg."

"Oh. Well IÆm sure we can find something to do," she covered,
smiling even though he couldnÆt see her, "So what were you
saying? A Latin prophesy about what?"

"ItÆs quite complicated. A bit too complicated to explain over a
long-distance phone call, IÆm afraid."

"Oh, thatÆs right! I almost forgot where you are. ItÆs just hard
to believe youÆre so far away."

Silence followed.

"ItÆll be nice to see each other again," Buffy offered.

"Yes," he agreed brusquely, "Well, I donÆt want to
hold up your packing. I have some to do myself,
actually."

"Okay. IÆll see you there."

"Yes. Goodbye."

"Goodbye," she whispered into the receiver.
