  28. Part 4 The Light Shines (What Makes A Real Hero)

  30. When the flash of light faded Buffy found herself standing next to wh=
  31. at
  32. she could identify only as an angel.
  33.  
  34. "My name is Linda, and I'm here to tell you that super powers don't m=
  35. ake
  36. you a hero. Look!" Linda said.
  37.  
  38. Buffy saw a firefighter running back into a burning building that has
  39. started to fall. Just as the building collapsed she saw that the
  40. firefighter had made it out carrying a small crying  child.
  41.  
  42. "See Buffy," explained Linda, "A hero puts the safety of others befor=
  43. e
  44. anything else. The firefighter had no super powers and he knew he mig=
  45. ht
  46. have died but, still he went back for a little girl."
  47.  
  48. "Like, that=92s his job." said Buffy.
  49.  
  50. "Very well, let's try another approach," replied Linda.
  51.  
  52. The light once again engulfed  them both. When it cleared Buffy found
  53. herself looking down from a hill. She saw a small boy walking on a
  54. frozen pond, the ice broke, and he fell in. She then saw people who h=
  55. ad
  56. been passing by stop to form a human chain. They pulled the small boy
  57. out of the freezing water to safety.
  58.  
  59. Linda once again appears at her side. "You see Buffy, they didn't kno=
  60. w
  61. the child. It wasn't their job, but they risked their lives to save a
  62. child=92s. That's all it takes to be a hero."
  63.  
  64. Buffy wiped the tears from her eyes and said "I understand now, I'm
  65. ready to go back."
  66.  
  67. Linda waved her hand and Buffy found herself back in the alley. She t=
  68. hen
  69. noticed that on her arm was a crystal band. She then heard a voice in
  70. her head, "This crystal band will help you stand against the evil one=
  71. .
  72. Remember that even in your Darkest Hours, when all seems hopeless and
  73. lost that the light will always dispel the darkness in which evil
  74. grows."
  75.  
  76. Part 5 The Light Shines (Angules)
  77.  
  78. As Buffy started to approach the warehouse where Catherine and others
  79. were, a female vampire jumped from out of the shadows, "Well, if it
  80. isn't the little Slayer. When I give Catherine your head everyone wil=
  81. l
  82. know the name of Vik-" the vampire started to say just as a stake is
  83. driven into her heart. "Girlfriend you talk to much." said Buffy.
  84.  
  85. Buffy entered the warehouse from the roof. Moving from beam to beam  =
  86. she
  87. watched as Angelus stood next to the evil witch, their hands locked
  88. together in a lovers embrace.
  89.  
  90. Buffy jumped from the beam she was standing on doing a back flip. She
  91. landed in front of two vampires who don't even have time to notice sh=
  92. e's
  93. there. She then ramed a stake through each of their hearts.
  94.  
  95. Buffy turned to Catherine and said "Ok, this is between you and me. L=
  96. et
  97. my friends and Angel go!"
  98.  
  99. Buffy then turned to hear Angelus  laughing. He looked straight at he=
  100. r
  101. and said, "You little fool! Did you really think that I loved you. Th=
  102. ere
  103. never was an Angel. It was just a way to get a Slayer to leave me alo=
  104. ne.
  105. But, I must admit it was refreshing to find a virgin these days."
  106.  
  107. Buffy yelled, "No! I don't believe it.   Angel did  love me!"
  108.  
  109. Angelus turned toward Catherine, once again wearing the face of Angel=
  110. .
  111. "Poor Slayer, I can't believe you are so gullib--" Angelus starts to
  112. say, but, is stopped by an arrow that has pierced his heart. Surprise
  113. shows on his face as the turns to dust.
  114.  
  115. The other vampires turn to see Xander standing next to Buffy a crossb=
  116. ow
  117. in his arms. "No one! makes the girl I love cry!" Xander said as he
  118. threw another crossbow to Buffy "Just like old times Buffster, lets
  119. Rock-N-Roll."
  120.  
  121. When Buffy turned to catch the crossbow she looked at Xander. His dem=
  122. on
  123. face was showing, but in his eyes, she saw love. "Ok Xand, lock & loa=
  124. d
  125. lets kick some undead butt!"
  126.  
  127. Part 6 The Light Shines (The Witch)
  128.  
  129. Xander & Buffy started fighting back to back and the vampires began t=
  130. o
  131. fall. After they had run out of arrows they grabbed a chair, breaking
  132. off the legs to use as stakes.
  133.  
  134. As Catherine raised her hands to cast a spell she was grabbed from
  135. behind. She spun around to face a very mad Xander. "You hurt Buffy an=
  136. d
  137. that makes me mad!" growled Xander.
  138.  
  139. As Xander prepared to kill her, Catherine called out to the red werew=
  140. olf
  141. to attack.  The wolf leaped into the air toward Xander, who was prepa=
  142. red
  143. to fight for his life. When the beast suddenly changed course in mid-=
  144. air
  145. landing on top of the witch. It began to rip the body apart. Xander h=
  146. ad
  147. to turn his head. The creature ripping the witch apart had once been =
  148. his
  149. best friend. As Willow tore out the throat of the witch there was blo=
  150. od
  151. flowing everywhere.
  152.  
  153. With Catherine dead the other vampires fled into the night. Buffy cam=
  154. e
  155. over to stand by Xander and said "I'm Sorry Xand, I wish there was
  156. something that I  could do."
  157.  
  158. "Just hold me Buffy, Please!" Said Xander, tears of blood running dow=
  159. n
  160. his face.
  161.  
  162. Part 7 The Light Shines (Out Of Darkness)
  163.  
  164. Buffy did just that. They both jumped when they heard a familiar voic=
  165. e.
  166. "Ok after this we really will have to step up your training."  Buffy =
  167. and
  168. Xander both turned to see that Giles had been turned back.
  169.  
  170. "U--uh G-guys has any one got a blanket?" the voice causes the three =
  171. to
  172. turn around to see a naked Willow. Xander quickly removed his cloak a=
  173. nd
  174. put it around Willow. "Thanks." she said.
  175.  
  176. "Hey, anything for my best bud," answred Xander.
  177.  
  178. The four heroes walked out of the dark warehouse into the light of a =
  179. new
  180. day. Buffy heard a cat meow and smiles. She knew that the world would
  181. always be safe as long as there were Feline Mages.
  182.  
  183. (Epilogue) to come soon

  185. The Song, The Good Guys & The Bad Guys that Buffy sang came from the
  186. movie the Return of Captain Invincible. I don't remember who owns it.
  187. The characters of Kal-El and Linda are owned by DC Comics, Peter is
  188. owned by Marvel.

  205. Rating: PG-13 = violence and graphic descriptions (no sex)
  206. Summary: Series after Vengeance - Buffy, Xander, Willow & Giles are all
  207. vampires.  Drusilla is making Buffy pay for supposedly killing Spike. 
  208. Distribution: I'll say yes, but ask.
  209. Spoilers: Everything up to Killed By Death (just to be safe)
  210. Feedback: Please, good or bad, I need to know if I suck or not. I won't care
  211. if you tell me this story is horrible, I just want to know.

  213. This story is something that happens after Killed By Death. Probally 
  214. a Third season type story. This story has some pretty graphic descriptions 
  215. and some people may be upset by the story. There is a PG-13 rating on 
  216. this story however, there is no sex or sexual situations. Just some Buffy 
  217. like language and violence. This story will go on for a while, or until I come
  218. up with a way to end it. The characters, Buffy, Xander, Willow, etc. belong 
  219. to Joss Whedon, The WB, Sandollar, etc.  
  220.  
  221.       He stood in the shadows watching her sleep.  The moon 
  222. light reflecting off her pale white face.  The night's air filled 
  223. the room.  An ice cold gust came through an open window and startled 
  224. Spike out of a daze.  After such a long time, he was starting to 
  225. loose hope that she would come.  Then one night she came, tired, 
  226. weak and full of surprises.  'A vampire? The slayer a vampire?' The whole 
  227. thing was too much for him to even contemplate. 
  228.     Buffy had been sleeping peacefully for hours. The body of 
  229. her latest meal lay lifelessly on the floor by the bed. 
  230.     "Time to get up," Spike said loudly as he walked over to 
  231. the middle of the room where she was resting.  
  232.     Buffy awoke with jump. She looked over to Spike who was standing at 
  233. the foot of the bed.  "Can't you let a girl get some sleep?" 
  234.     "No." A faint smile crossed his face. "How do you feel?"
  235.     "Like I've been run over by an Amtrak."
  236.     Buffy noticed Spike's strange looks. "What?" 
  237.     "I'm just trying to understand all of this.  You were pretty
  238. groggy when you arrived."
  239.     "Yeah, well, I got her first didn't I?"
  240.     "True."  Spike walked over to the side of the bed and sat down.
  241.     "You want to tell me what's going on?"
  242.     "Well, basically here is what happened: Dru thought I killed 
  243. you so she killed my friends, turned me into a vampire and made me 
  244. kill everyone I ever knew. 
  245.     "Really?" Spike's voice was filled with pride.  "So, how do I get Dru 
  246. back?"
  247.     "You can't."    
  248.     "What do you mean?"
  249.     "The ritual requires the one that loves them. I don't love Angel 
  250. anymore.  After becoming a vampire, I lost interest in him, and fell 
  251. for Xander."
  252.     "You and that...that reject?"
  253.     "He's not such a reject anymore. He's done some serious damage. 
  254. Even killed Kendra."
  255.     "Dru should have made you all vampires a long time ago," Spike said 
  256. with a chuckle. 
  257.     "A long time ago, Dru was barely capable of walking let alone killing 
  258. the slayer. A slayer you couldn't kill yourself if I remember correctly."
  259. Buffy 
  260. smiled sarcastically at him.  "Have you ever thought of killing Angel?"
  261.     "Of course I have." Spike stood up and turned his back to Buffy. 
  262. "Dru would never love me the same though."
  263.     "Your love for eachother is repulsive!" Buffy voice was loud and harsh.
  264. Buffy couldn't believe that another vampire could have such feelings. 
  265.     "Do you have a problem with that?"
  266.     "As a matter of fact..." Buffy stopped, not wanting to start something 
  267. with him. "Look, we've got much bigger problems right now. Angel will be 
  268. here any minute."
  269.     "Actually, Angel is already here." Angel slowly stepped out of the 
  270. shadows of the room.  Spike turned suddenly to face the dark figure. 
  271.     "Buffy, Buffy, Buffy, what would Xander say if he could see you now..."
  272.     "Why did you come here?" Buffy's voice was deep and full of anger.
  273.     "Well, I think we both know the answer to that one." Angel walked slowly
  274. around the bed and approached Spike.
  275.     "Hiya Spike. How could you let us think you were dead all these years?"
  276.     "Wasn't too difficult." Spike seemed happy to have eluded all of them.
  277.     "Well, we'll make it for real this time."
  278.
