- -Ireland 1775-
A young girl at the age of 15 waved goodbye to her family as
the carriage took off down the dirt road.
The young girls name is Caitlin and she's very gifted with the
art of magic. Her mother and father saw it fit that she study to train
and hone her powers. They kept it secret not wanting to stir up trouble
and told those who asked that she was going away to school in London.
That's where her tutor will be awaiting her arrival.
She had a very average family. A mother, a father, and two older
brothers. Patrick and Angelus. Out of all her family members, her
brother Angelus was the only one who understood her. Perhaps,
because they were so much alike. They not only looked alike,
they thought alike. Both Caitlin and Angelus wanted to be different.
They wanted to be able to think what they wanted to and to make t
heir own decisions. Who to marry, when to marry, who to speak to,
what to do. Caitlin and her brother never realized how easy they had
it until it was to late

- -4 years later, Ireland 1779-
When Caitlin returned home from her studies, what greeted her was
not what she expected. When the carriage stopped in front of her
home she got out, and what had greeted her was not what she
expected.
When she walked into the house, she saw the most horrific thing
she could ever have imagined. The dead bodies of her family were
strewn about the house. The blood was drained from their bodies;
their eyes wide open in terror. Caitlin immediately knew that a vampire
had killed her family, and her suspicions were confirmed when she saw
the tell-tale bite marks on each of their necks. Her mentor had warned
her about the creatures of the dark. How merciless they were, and how
they thrived on pain and torture. But nothing could have prepared her
for this, not in a million years would she think it could happen to her.
She ran away from the house as fast as she could, letting tears blur
her vision. She stopped at the edge of a cliff overlooking the town. She
contemplated jumping, there was nothing left to live for, but something
held her back. Revenge. She would not rest until she killed whoever did
this. It never once entered her mind at the time why she did not see
Angelus among the bodies.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
As dusk approached Caitlin sat in a pastuer, armed with a stake and a
cross. Knowing full well the demon would come looking for a meal. She
also knew that even if she lost the fight this time, in the end she would
overcome. After all she did have an eternity ahead of her. When her
mentor gave her some spell books, he didn't expect her to actually
cast the spells. They were to study from, and become accustomed
to the concept of them, but she went beyond her teachings and cast
a very old, and powerful spell. One that granted her immortality.
"Caitlin," she heard a dear voice call from behind her, "is that you?"
Angelus asked.
Caitlin jumped to her feet and hugged him to her.
"Angel, thank God you're alright. They're all dead, it killed them,"
she sobbed into his coat.
"Shh, it's alright," he cooed while stroking her her "I'll take care of you."
Caitlin suddenly got a funny feeling. Realization struck her. She didn't
hear a heartbeat underneath her ear, no heaving of his chest with
every breath, and the tone of his voice sounded almost as if it was
mocking her. She looked up into her former brother's face to see that
of a demon's.
"No!" she screamed. "Not Angel, not him."
"Sorry witch, Angel's dead and you're about to join him," Angelus
sneered. "And please call me Angelus."
Caitlin was to stunned to move or even fight back, so when the vampire
sunk his fangs into her neck she slowly let darkness claim her. It was
time to tell if her spell worked.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
She blinked her eyes to accustom herself to the bright rays of the sun.
She had one heck of a headache and every bone in her body ached.
"Well at least my spell worked, or I'd wouldn't be here now," she
murmured to herself.
Caitlin looked up into the sky and silently vowed to avenge her family
and bring her brother back.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
- -The Present, Sunnydale CA, 1998-
Caitlin walked out of Sunnydale airport into the late afternoon sun.
"So this is the Hellmouth," she muttered to herself. "Let the fun begin."

"I really don't want you guys to come hunting with me," Buffy started
"We just want to know you're safe," Willow assured.
"Safety in numbers," Xander reiterated.
Xander, Cordelia, and Willow had once again decided to go with Buffy
on her hunt, much to her objections. It was a pretty slow night. Two
vamps and no surprise threats from Angelus.
"So are you finished yet?" Cordelia spoke up.
Ever since she and Xander got their so-called relationship out into the
open, she felt as if a weight had been lifted off of her shoulders. She'd
never admit it outloud, but she enjoyed being part of the group. And
was thankful to them for accepting her when she wouldn't accept them.
"Yes, I just have to check in with Giles," Bufy answered. "He wants
me to check in after every hunt. Ever since..." she trailed off.
The group nodded their heads solemnly.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Further up ahead Caitlin was making her way to the library when a
dinner seeking vamp decided to attack her. Not wasting any time
she quickly dispatched the vampire with a quick burst of fire from
her finger tips. Caitlin was so caught up in making her way to the
Watcher, a one Rupert Giles, she was oblivious to the small group
of onlookers including the Slayer.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"Oh, my God. Did you see that?" Bufy asked wide jawed.
"Uh, huh," Willow squeked.
"Another super chic? Think she'll go out with me?" Xander asked.
Cordelia elbowed him hard and gave him one of her famous glares.
"Just wondering," Xander shrugged.
"I think Giles needs to know about this," Buffy supplied and took off
towards the library.
The rest followed close behind.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
In a warehouse on the bad side of town Spike was scolding Angelus
once again.
"What are you witing for? New Year's 3022," Spike practically yelled.
"Patience is a virtue," Angelus retorted. "It's no fun if you rush things."
"It would be fun if she was dead," Spike snapped back.
"How are you going to have fun? Pop wheelies in your chair?"
Angelus chuckled.
"Your going to be sorry when I get out of this chair," Spike conceded.
"I'm counting the years," Angelus wasn't fazed by Spike's threat.
"Spike darling. Leave well enough alone. Angel knows what he's doing."
Drusilla assured him. "Isn't that right my Angel?"
"You got it baby," he answered.
All of a sudden Drusilla started moaning and holding her head.
"Dru, baby. What is it?" Spike asked worriedly.
"Someone's come. Someone new and powerful. Come to change it all,"
she whined.

In the library Giles was reading through some spell books, searching
for a spell to restore a person's soul. Ever since Angel had changed
over, things had gotten worse. Buffy was in deep denial, believing the
outcome of the past few weeks was her fault, and longing for Angel to
come back. Willow and Xander tried to be strong for her, but were
truly afraid of what Angelus might do given his past, and of course,
no one was speaking with Ms. Calendar.
"Rupert," came a soft voice fom his office doorway.
He turned his head to see who was there
"Jenny, what ah, what can I do for you?" he asked.
"I figured you would be here. Can we talk?" she asked hopefully.
"I'm a-a little busy right now and frankly I don't want to have this
conversation just yet," he replied hotly.
"Well then just listen to what I have to say. Ok?" she almost begged.
Giles hesitated, but then nodded in response.
"You have every right to hate me. I wasn't honest with you. Even
after being in the loop," she paused and took a deep breath. "But
you have to believe me when I say I didn't know this was going to
happen, or I swear I would've told you," she stopped and waited for
some type of response. Even a "get out" would do better then the
silence she was recieving. When he finally spoke she sucked in a
ragged breath.
"I don't hate you. I could never hate you. It just hurts that you didn't
believe you could trust me, us, with your secret. Even after we told
you all of ours," Giles made aware. "Angel's saved all our lives at
some point and now he threatens that very same existance. I
considerd him a friend a valuable ally. I can't help thinking that if
you didn't hold back such vital information, things would've tuned
out differently," he stopped.
"I know," Jenny whispered.
"And I'm not the one you should be apologizing to. It's Buffy. She
is the one who's hurting the most," Giles added.
"I've tried, but she won't speak to me," Jenny supplied.
"Do you blame her?" Giles stated more then asked.
"No," she answered smally.
"Hello," a new voice rang out. "Is anybody here?"
"Yes, what can I do for you?" Giles greeted while stepping out
of his office with Jenny in tow.
There stood a tall girl about 18 or 19 with long thick brownish-black
hair. Dark brown eyes and a creamy complexion. Her chiseled features
highlighted her prominant cheekbones. She wore a black leather jacket,
charcoal gray pants, and a black form fitting shirt with exposed a small
amount of her muscled midriff.
"You wouldn't by any chance be Rupert Giles?" the girl asked.
"Yes," Giles answered looking perplexed.
"The Watcher, Rupert Giles?" she asked to be sure.
"How did you know that?" Giles blurted out.
"My names Caitlin. Angel's my brother," she informed him.
"Dear God," Giles gasped.
"You look just like him, except in a... girl way," Jenny observed.
"The resemblance is amazing."
"But Angel told us he killed all his family," Giles said with a
questioning look.
"That's a long story. One I'm willing to tell if you'll agree to help me
help him," she bargained.
"Yes, of course. Please sit down," Giles agreed, and offered her a chair.
"Where to begin?" Caitlin asked more to herself then the others once
she was seated.

Whoa, I don't remember all the people at the prom turning to vampires. Maybe in
London you're actually ahead in the episodes! :)

"Footsteps," by Ingrid
Part Eight
******************
The racket was deafening as they got to the warehouse.
Willow heard two voices, the sound of fists making
contact, and then a loud crash. As the metal door creaked
open echoes of shouting assaulted her. Before sheÆd
blinked, a body flew across the room, and the slayer
stepped into the center floor.
"I canÆt believe you bothered to come all the way over here
to let me kill you. You could have at least saved me for the
travel expense."
She planted a swift kick to his stomach. Willow had trouble
following her lightning-fast moves, and wondered where
sheÆd learned to fight like that.
Certainly never in the library.
A stake was high in the air in an instant, and Willow crashed
into the room suddenly, a surge of emotions overtaking her.
"WAIT!" She screamed as the stake began its descent. Buffy
looked up almost simultaneously and her eyes popped open
in horror at seeing her friend as a vampire for the first time.
Angel took full advantage, popping her in the jaw fiercely. She
fell to the ground with a grunt.
"Thanks," he grinned at Willow as Buffy scrambled to her feet.
Again Willow noticed his gaunt face. The cheeks were hollow,
and his eyes sunken in. It simply made his grin all the more
revolting to look at. Anger rose within her, and with a surge of
adrenaline, she rushed at Angelus before he could make his
next attack. She slammed him against the wall with a strength
sheÆd never imagined herself capable of.
"Who said I was helping you," she snarled, her face transforming.
Buffy stood watching, unable to recover from the shock. Spike
stood behind her, and neither of them made a move for each
other. Both were too amazed to be capable of any action.
They all waited for an action from Willow. "*What happened to
Dru,*" she said in a low, even growl.
Angel turned away and looked at the floor, refusing to answer.
With a shattering blow, she broke his jaw. Spike winced, Buffy
noticed, but she continued to watch her former best friend.
"WHAT HAPPENED TO DRU," she screamed at the bleeding
Angel. In a cracked and faint voice he answered her. Buffy and
Spike strained unsuccessfully to hear what the vampire was
saying.
Willow heard.
"Well, you see, It happened like this. A few months ago, we got
stuck in an alley until the sun went down."
He rested his head against the wall.
"Drusilla kept whining about her dolls, and normally I wouldnÆt
mind it, but I was having a bad dayà"
Willow leaned in closer as his voice grew even quieter. "So I
shoved her out into the street." He looked at the oblivious
Spike with the best impression of a grin he could manage.
Crimson liquid oozed from his lips.
Then he turned back to Willow, coughing briefly on his own
blood. "Oh donÆt worry," he breathed, "She didnÆt suffer for
long."
Despite his position, the snicker that followed was triumphant.
With a quick lunge, she ripped a bloody hole in his face, and
turned around. Moving with a speed rivaling BuffyÆs, she
grabbed the stake out of the slayerÆs hand, and wasted no time
in plunging it through the vampireÆs heart. A scattering of dust
tingled her skin, bringing life back into her bloody hands.
"Bastard," she whispered to the floor.
She turned around and barely smiled at Buffy as her face
reverted back to its human form.
Buffy didnÆt move. She didnÆt know what to make of the situation,
and almost jerked away when she felt the cold hands deliver the
stake to her.
Willow backed away.
"Consider it an act of good faith," she shrugged, and pulled an
incredulous Spike with her upstairs.
Buffy remained there for some time, staring at the stake in her
hands.

Hi Idham,
I don't know what channel you're watching if they're
going to show series 3, but I sure wish I had it! :) I
watch Sky One and we've just reached the end of the
first season - the episode where Buffy is killed and
she gets revived by Xander. Nice to welcome someone
else from England to the list, though I had thought
you'd be as far behind those in the US as I am. :) This
being a fanfic list I didn't think of introducing
myself... if there's anyone out there curious I'd be
more than willing to have a go. :) I've been here just
over a month now, Idham, and I hope yo get as much fun
from reading the great fic that comes in as I have.

Restoration ~ Part Four
She hesitated for a moment before raising her hand to knock on Angel's =
door. She knew he was there, she could feel him standing behind the door=
waiting for her arrival. His presence was in everything.
She tapped lightly. The door opened almost immediately, and she found =
herself staring up into chocolate brown eyes that housed centuries of wis=
dom and pain. Eyes she loved with all her heart.
"Hi," she murmered weakly, the sight of him taking her breath away.
He smiled, "Hi, yourself." He stepped back to allow her to enter his =
appartment. She wasn't sure what she expected as the door closed behind =
her; maybe she expected him to suddently revert back into his evil self; =
maybe she expected him to want her to sleep with him, attempting to pick =
up where they had left off; maybe she expected him to turn his back on =
her, hating her for what she had helped him to become. Whatever it was =
that she was expecting, it didn't happen.
She watched him silently, unsure as to what to say or do as Angel sudden=
ly crumpled before her eyes. He moved across the loft, sinking heavily =
onto his sofa, resting his head in his hands. Buffy sat down beside him,=
resting her hand on his back as he tried to regain his composure.
After a while he raised his eyes back to meet her gaze. How awful it =
must be for him having to live forever knowing the pain and sorrow he inf=
licted upon others, especially now that he had killed yet another friend.=
She sighed, moving closer to him, slowly moving her hand to softly stro=
ke his hair as he rested his head upon her shoulder.
He had always been the strong one in their relationship, someone for her=
to turn to when she didn't know what to do. He had helped her when thin=
gs between her mother and Ted confused her. He had held her while she cr=
ied, at last coming to terms with what she suffered at the hands of the =
Master. He had saved her life, all of their lives, more times than she =
could count. He had held her close and tenderly made love to her when =
the world seemed like it was coming to an end. Now, when it was her turn=
to hold him, her turn to impart the words of wisdom that would ease his =
agonized soul, no words would pass her lips.
Thankfully, she needed no words to help him, her mere presence eased his=
troubled heart in many ways. He had feared desperately that she would =
not show tonight. It may have been her request to see him, but given tim=
e, a step back from the suddenness of the situation, and Giles' unfavoura=
ble influence, he feared she may change her mind. Worse yet, he feared =
that if she did show, it would be to tell him his actions had been unforg=
iveable, and she no longer could bring herself to love him. Though the =
terrible truth of his evil tortured his every breath, it was the thought =
of losing Buffy that terrified him the most. Never before had he loved, =
had allowed himself to be loved like this, to lose that love now would =
be insurmountable.
He took a deep breath, his emotions calming as he slowly pulled away fro=
m her comforting embrace. "How'd it go with Giles?" he asked, quietly.
She shrugged, drawing her legs underneath herself. "Could have gone wor=
se. Could have gone better, too, but at this point I'll take what I can =
get."
"Does he know you're here?"
She nodded, "He's not leaping for joy with the thought, but he says he =
won't stop us from being together."
He paused, his fingers turning the ring on his hand nervously. "And me?=
"
She shook her head, "Trust me, you don't want to go there."
"Bad?"
"Way bad."
"As opposed to..?"
"Put it this way.. if I hadn't stopped the Master, that would be bad. =
We're way past that, probably the equivalent of at least fifteen Judges =
set loose on the world." Buffy sighed.
Angel grimaced. "Ouch."
She nodded, "So don't be surprised if you don't get an invitation to the=
next creepy city party, k?"
His hand reached out to rest upon her shoulder, "And you?"
Buffy tensed, dreading this question. Rather than answer she smiled at =
him softly and shrugged. "What do you remember about tonight?"
"What?" his face blanked at the change of topic.
"I remember some things.. I need to know what you can think of... I just=
want to put everything together."
Disappointment flashed across his features, but for the sake of them eac=
h he smothered it and allowed his thoughts to return to that night.
"I remember you staking me through the graveyard," he began, and like =
pieces in a puzzle, the night fell into place in their minds.
**********************
"Giles, what's got you so wigged about tonight? It's not like I've neve=
r gone on patrole before. Hello! That happens to be the single most des=
tructive factor in my social life!"
"As usual, Buffy, your depth of perception simply amazes me."
"Yeah, well, be amazed while you tell me exactly what's going on. You'r=
e more tense than normal, if that's humanly possible."
"Thank you for your concern, however I suggest you concentrate less upon=
my personal state of mind and more upon preparing for the night ahead. =
You're going up against Angel, Buffy, not the lesser strength of a newbo=
rn. You must prepare yourself completely if you expect to live."
Xander scowled, "Couldn't you have just said, Butt out, Buffy, you have =
your own job to do? Yeesh!"
Giles frowned at him, "Xander!"
The boy gulped, "Gone. 'Later, Buff. 'Luck!"
Buffy smiled distractedly at her friend's back as she finished packing =
her bag of demon killing knick-knacks.
"Buffy, get the crossbow from the weapons cage." Giles ordered, his eye=
s tracking the girl until she disappeared. In those few moments he slipp=
ed the orb into the bag and closed it tightly.
Buffy came out of the back, wrinkling her nose. "Jeez, Giles, you reall=
y need to dust back there."
"Why, is it beginning to remind you of your room?"
The girl blushed, abashed. "Hell, no. Mom dusts at least once a week."
"God forbid you should lift a finger to help."
"Maybe if someone would give me a night off here and there I wouldn't =
be too tired to help."
"Perhaps if you spent less of your free time upon wasteful recreational =
activities and more time sleeping you would not be too tired after all."
"Yeah and maybe then I'd have no friends at all, plus lose any chance =
at ever redeeming my social existance." She sighed. "But we've had this=
little talk a thousand times, and you'll probably preach it at me a thou=
sand more, so let's give it up for the night. I have a boyfriend to kill=
."
Giles shook his head. "And you say you have no social life."
Buffy stared at him in wonder for a moment, finally smiling. "Egads! =
You do have a sense of humor! Damn!"
He frowned, "What?"
"Now I owe Willow twenty dollars, and there was this sweet pair of shoes=
I was saving up for, too!"
"Go! Slay. Be smart... er.. well.. at least try hard." Giles raised =
an eyebrow as Buffy scowled.
"Enough with the jokes already! You're starting to scare me." She threw=
the bag upon her back as she headed out the door. "I'm beginning to won=
der if Rowan Atkinson hasn't invaded your body and I'm going to have to =
slay you in personal defense."
"Rowan Atkinson?"
She grinned, "Turn on your tv once in a while. You just can't miss Mr. =
Bean!"
She slammed the door shut and bolted down the hallway before the Brittis=
h librarian could throw anything at her in a rage. With their luck he'd =
miss, and Buffy would be left explaining how the chemistry lab blew up =
while she was passing its doors.
**********************
Angel shifted his position on the sofa, breaking Buffy from the flood =
of memories and experiences she was relaying.
"What?" she queried softly, losing herself in his chocolate brown eyes.
"Dawn. The sun will be up soon." His eyes were full of regret.
Buffy snapped up quickly, fear crossing her face. "Oh, God! Mom's gonn=
a kill me!"
Angel handed her her jacket and quickly planted a kiss upon her forehead=
. It warmed his heart that she didn't pull away from his touch.
"If you hurry she may not be awake. You can get in without being notice=
d."
She nodded, flashing him a brief smile before darting out the door. "Ca=
n I come back tonight to finish this?"
He nodded, "Anytime."
"Great, see ya then!"
Her voice echoed up the hall, but she had already disapeared into the =
outside world.

Dunno when you posted this cos I've kinda let my
mailbox overfill, but... but... you've stopped at part
3 <wail>. You're gonna do more soon, right? Like *real
soon? You had me hooked the moment I started reading.
Though I'll have to start thinking of a new way for my
story to go, I guess be both came up with the same kind
of idea for a spell that kills vampires - no worries, I
haven't even started the real planning yet :).
