  45. WB, etc. Just borrowing his proteges for a lillte bit. Only the story was 
  46. hatched from my very  own brain.
  47. Summary: Buffy gets amnesia, while Spike tries to use it to dispose 
  48. of the Slayer.

  50. ~PART 7~
  51.  
  52. When the gang arrived at the wharehouse through the back entrance,
  53. seeing as how the front door had a guard, they slipped quietly into the 
  54. shadows as not to be seen or heard by Spike. Buffy was chained on the 
  55. far wall while Spike loomed over her with his demon face on. They 
  56. listened intently to what was being said.
  57.          "No ones going to save you this time, Slayer." Spike taunted. 
  58. "You've cheated destiny long enough. I think it's about time I put you 
  59. out of your misery."
  60.          "My misery? You're the one with birth defects. If I looked like 
  61. you do I'd kill myself." Buffy quiped.
  62.          "Tut tut. You'll bruise my ego." Spike tsked. "I bet you don't say 
  63. that to Angelus." Spike resumed. 
  64.          "Who?" Buffy seemed confused once again.
  65.           "Oh, It's Angel now. I forgot." Spike corrected himself.
  66.           "You know Angel?" Buffy asked.
  67.           "Quite well, and he looks just like I do right now. He just hasn't 
  68. showed you."
  69.          "You lie." Buffy screamed. "He's sweet and beautiful and caring."
  70.          "And a demon, might I add." Spike spoke matter-of-factly.
  71.          From their hidden spots on the other side of the wharehouse the 
  72. gang silently watched.
  73.         "What is he doing?" Xander questioned.
  74.         "He likes toying with her. Playing with her emotions." 
  75. Angel informed.
  76.         They were distracted from saying anything else when two 
  77. vampires unchained Buffy's wrists and brought her to stand in the 
  78. center of the room. Buffy struggled and tried to break free of their 
  79. grasps, but to no effort.
  80.         "I'm tired of this conversation. It looks like your friends aren't 
  81. coming for you, so I'll get on with the killing." Spike bared his teeth.
  82.          He grabbed Buffy's arms pinning the two vamps with a stare 
  83. making them retreat in fear.
  84.          "Goodbye, Slayer. Been nice fighting with you." were Spike's
  85.  last words. He tilted her head to the side and slowly lowered his 
  86. fangs to her neck.
  87.          Buffy's life suddenly flashed before her eyes. The Harvest, killing 
  88. the master, dieing at his hands, training with Giles in the library, the 
  89. last fight in the cemetary. It was all coming back to her. She finally 
  90. knew who she was & what she had to do.
  91.          Spike was inches from her neck when he heard yelling from 
  92. behind him.
  93.          "NO!" screamed Angel. His demon face showing in the light as
  94.  he ran towards him.
  95.          Buffy didn't hesitate to take the interruption to her advantage. 
  96. When Spike looked away she kneed him hard in the groin. Falling to 
  97. the floor in pain, Buffy kicked him in the face sending him flying onto his 
  98. back.
  99.          "Guess who's back, Spikey?" Now it was Buffy doing the taunting. 
  100. He got up from the floor and he and Buffy became engaged in a fight.
  101.          The gang was so busy fighting their own vamps that they didn't 
  102. know Buffy regained her memory. Willow and Xander were holding back
  103.  the vampire that was guarding the front door, while Giles staked it. 
  104. Angel was taking on the two vamps that brought Buffy foward, which
  105.  he promptly discarded in his attempts to reach her. But Buffy was 
  106. successfully holding her own. She had a piece of wood she broke off 
  107. from a crate in her hand, and was about to plunge it downward into 
  108. Spike's unbeating heart when he rolled out of the way. Spike jumped 
  109. to his feet and ran towards the door.
  110.          "This isn't over Slayer. You haven't seen the last of me." he yelled
  111.  and ran out the door.
  112.          "I'm looking foward to it, scaredy cat." she yelled back.
  113.           Buffy turned towards her friends.
  114.           "Buffy?" Willow asked unsure of what to think.
  115.           "That's me Wil. Buffy the Slayer, back from vacation." Buffy 
  116. replied happily. She never thought she'd be so happy to be the Slayer
  117.  in all her life. 
  118.           A huge smile spread acoss Willow's face and she enfolded her 
  119. friend in a hug and then Xander joined in. When they separated Buffy 
  120. turned to Angel and kissed him fully on the lips and hugged him to her 
  121. tightly.
  122.          "I'm so glad you're ok." Angel whispered in her ear.
  123.          "So am I." she whispered back. She released him and took 
  124. his hand.
  125.          "So Giles, unless you want to prod me on details, I'd like to 
  126. go home. I feel icky and want to take a shower and possibly get
  127.  some sleep." Buffy remained hopeful.
  128.          "Details can wait until tomorrow." Giles assured her. "I'm just 
  129. glad you're back."
  130.          Giles and Buffy shared one of those slayer/watcher smiles, and 
  131. the whole gang headed towards their homes. Happy to have their Slayer 
  132. back safe and sound.

  158. "So when last night did you memory come back?" Willow asked as 
  159. the trio sat in the library on their free period.
  160.           "Right when Spike was about to sink his fangs into my neck. 
  161. My life like flashed before my eyes." Buffy answered.
  162.            "It seems as though your slayer senses reactivated itself when 
  163. your life was put in danger." Giles informed.
  164.            "Well whatever happened, I'm glad it did. I couldn't stand being
  165.  in the dark anymore." Buffy stated.
  166.            "Buffy and the dark. Two words I can't even imagine putting in 
  167. the same sentence." Xander joked.
  168.            "Ha Ha very funny." Buffy quiped.
  169.            "I know. I'm a laugh a minute." Xander informed.
  170.            "Whatever you say, Xander." Willow assured.
  171.            "So, ladies are we bronzing it tonight? We can have a crazed 
  172. dance party." Xander asked.
  173.            "Absolutely. Angel said he might show." Buffy confirmed.
  174.            "Oh, come on Buffy, the guys is older then dirt." Xander
  175.  interjected.
  176.            "Yeah, but he sure looks good for someone whose older 
  177. then dirt." Willow defended.
  178.            "Thank you, Wil." Buffy said.
  179.             Before Xander could retaliate the bell rang ending their free
  180. time.
  181.             "You kids better get to class." Giles informed. "Before Snyder 
  182. gives you all detention."
  183.             "Auugh. I'm seriously thinking about staking Snyder anyway." 
  184. Buffy commented.
  185.             "All in favor say aye." Xander motioned and raised his hand 
  186. as did Willow.
  187.             "Go to class, all of you." Giles commanded and went back
  188.  into his office.
  189.             "Fine. Maybe I can catch some z's during history." 
  190. Buffy stated.
  191.             "She's back." Willow and Xander replied in unison.
  192.             Giles could hear the three laughing as they exited the library. 
  193. Shaking his head and chuckling he whispered to himself, "at least 
  194. things are back to normal. Or as normal as things can get on 
  195. the Hellmouth."
  196.  He went bout skimming the card catalogue being a dutiful librarian 
  197.  
  198.  
  199. ***************
  200.  
  201.         The band playing in the Bronze was loud as usual, but not 
  202. all that bad. Xander seemed to be enjoying himself, while he showed 
  203. off his unique style of dancing. The girls couldn't help but laugh at him.
  204.         "So how are you feeling?" Willow started.
  205.         "Much better." Buffy confirmed. "I wanted to thank you guys for 
  206. sticking by me through this. It means alot to me."
  207.         "Hey, that's what friends are for. Besides you would've done the 
  208. same for us." Willow applied.
  209.         "Without a doubt." Buffy assured.
  210.          The two girls shared a knowing smile conveying much more 
  211. then words could.
  212.          "Hey." Angel greeted.
  213.          Both girls jumped startled not realizing him appear.
  214.          "Sorry." Angel apologized with a slight chuckle.
  215.          "I really wish you wouldn't do that." Buffy commented.
  216.          "I think I'll get something to drink." Willow offered herself an 
  217. escape. She vacated her stool and headed towards the drink counter
  218.  with a pleased smile on her face. Angel and Buffy watched her go and 
  219. smiled at each other.
  220.          "So I see you are feeling better." Angel stated.
  221.          "Much better." Buffy assured him.
  222.          "Good, then can I have this dance?" he asked as a slow song 
  223. started playing.
  224.          "Sure." Buffy replied and took his outstreched hand. Buffy was
  225.  surprised at how casually he had asked her, but she melted into his 
  226. embrace as he slowly rocked her to the music.
  227.          "I told you this felt right." Buffy broke the silence.
  228.          "So do you need more time to think things over." Angel asked.
  229.          "Not anymore." Buffy whispered as she stood on her toes to 
  230. reach his lips. Very gently she pressed them to his as his arms 
  231. encircled her. 
  232.          When they separated Angel smiled down at her as she laid her
  233.  head on his chest. He kissed her on the head lightly as they continued 
  234. to lose themselves in their own little world, where nothing seemed to 
  235. exist but each other.

  265. Disclaimers: Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and all characters therein belong 
  266. to Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy and The WB.  JΣzen (pronounced Jay-sten or 
  267. Jay-zen) is my own creation.
  268. Author's note:  This idea came to me long when Buffy first began.  
  269. Needless to say, I was very angry at Joss when the Angel episode aired 
  270. and my idea for a good vampire went down the tubes.
  271. But I got over that and since then the idea has... evolved.  Also.  I 
  272. have not finished this yet.
  273. Summary so far:  JΣzen and Buffy (still talking) were rudely interrupted 
  274. by Angelus.

  276.  
  277.                      INNER DEMONS  Part 12
  278.  
  279.     "Oh, you're good, JΣzen," Angelus said.  "However did you get her to 
  280. trust you?"
  281.     "I told her the truth," JΣzen answered.  "Same as you did."
  282.     "Really?" came the reply.  "So, tell me, how long were you going to 
  283. lead her on until you put the bite on her?"
  284.     ôHow long were you planing on following us before you showed your sorry 
  285. face?ö came the reply.
  286.     ôWhat?ö Buffy asked, but she was silenced by JΣzenÆs hand.
  287.     "I have no intention of 'putting the bite' on her," JΣzen finally said.
  288.     "You don't expect me to believe that?" Angelus asked in a disbelieving 
  289. tone.
  290.     "I don't expect you to do anything," JΣzen replied.  ôExcept, maybe, 
  291. leave.ö
  292.     "I can't believe I'm hearing this," Angelus laughed.  "JΣzen!  The 
  293. Great monster!  The legendary slaughterer of thousands has gone soft?ö
  294.     ôI would hardly say IÆve gone soft,ö JΣzen simply said.  "More, I would 
  295. say that *I've* gotten stronger.  But you wouldn't know anything about 
  296. that, would you?"
  297.     Angelus was taken aback.  They stared each other down for several 
  298. minutes.  All the while, Buffy was stuck in the middle of the two 
  299. vampires, unsure whether to get out of the line of fire or keep them 
  300. separated (which she doubted she could do anyway).
  301.     "Do you remember the night Spike and I ran into you?" Angelus finally 
  302. asked.
  303.     "Yes," JΣzen answered after a moment's thought.  "As I recall, I nearly 
  304. ripped you both to pieces."
  305.     "We wanted to join you," was the soft reply.
  306.     "Like I said," JΣzen repeated, "I nearly ripped you both to pieces.  
  307. Who's idea was that anyway?  Your's or the insolent Balg's*?"
  308.     "Watch it," Angelus warned.
  309.     "Or what?" came the indignat response, "you'll kill me?  Or will you 
  310. just go back to torturing the girl here?"
  311.     "Oh, I have plans for *her*," Angelus retorted, shifting his gaze to 
  312. Buffy.  "Right now, I have other people to take care of."
  313.     "Use your head, Angelus," JΣzen raised his voice, "if you still can.  
  314. If you think you can play your little games with her and expect the 
  315. usual results, your as stupid as those welps of yours!"  He calmed down 
  316. and stared coldly at the younger vampire.  "As for me, just try it and 
  317. I'll do what I *should* have done 160 years ago."
  318.     ôI donÆt think you have it in you,ö Angelus scoffed.
  319.     ôAnd I think something in you *wants* to die,ö was the counter.
  320.     ôLetÆs settle it then,ö Angelus growled as he put on his game face.
  321.     "Let's."

  359. Xander and Cordelia entered the dark confines of the library.  Giles and 
  360. Jenny huddled at a table full of weapons, sharpening stakes and putting 
  361. together a new crossbow, while trying to repair the broken one.  Willow 
  362. sat in a corner, going through books.  Giles noticed that they werenÆt 
  363. alone.  He looked up and saw the them standing there.  ôThank God you 
  364. have finally arrived.  ItÆs about bloody time.ö  He said, rushing over 
  365. to them.
  366.  
  367. ôGiles,  you called us *five* minutes ago.ö  Xander said.
  368.  
  369. ôTime is of the essence.  You donÆt understand what is going on.ö he 
  370. immediately went into the details of their situation.
  371.  
  372. ôThis is really serious.ö  Cordelia spoke, after Giles finished.  
  373.  
  374. ôYes, it is.  We have to...ö
  375.  
  376. ôI GOT IT!ö  The Watcher was interrupted by a loud voice.  ôI FOUND 
  377. SOMETHING!ö

  379. Everyone in the room looked at Willow, who jumped up with glee at her 
  380. newly found information.  
  381.  
  382. ôYou found what?ö Xander asked.
  383.  
  384. ôWell, you know how you told me that Hope was so strong and Buffy felt 
  385. so weird around her?ö  Giles nodded earnestly.  ôWell, I think I might 
  386. have found an explanation.  Listen to this:  There is only one slayer in 
  387. each generation.  She is the chosen one who has the skill and ability to 
  388. fight and destroy the demons that walk the earth.  However, if her power 
  389. is not strong enough, she may obtain guidance or help.  A slayer from 
  390. the past may reach out to her by bestowing her power on to a girl of the 
  391. age of 16.  It is customary that she be of blood relation.  The source 
  392. of the power may come in a special origin, presumably in an item that 
  393. was greatly significant to the slayer.ö

  425. ôBuffy?  Buffy?  Are you there?ö
  426.  
  427. Buffy slowly opened her eyes to the sound of the soft voice calling her 
  428. name.  Her vision was blurry, and took a moment to focus.  She looked at 
  429. her surroundings.  ôWhere am I?ö
  430.  
  431. ôYouÆre in your subconscious.ö  the soothing voice said.
  432.  
  433. Buffy staggered to her feet.  She felt as if she were floating on a 
  434. cloud.  She was in a garden of wild flowers, endless fields of them, all 
  435. around her.  She spun around to see an angelic-like  girl standing in 
  436. front of her.  ôWho are you?ö  She asked suspiciously.
  437.  
  438. ôYou know who I am.ö  the girl said.  Buffy looked into her familiar 
  439. eyes.  ôHope?ö
  440.  
  441. ôNo, my dear.  Not Hope.  But someone very close, yet distant to her and 
  442. you.  Buffy, you and I share a connection.  I am Mira, the Vampire 
  443. Slayer.
  444.  
  445. ôNo way.  YouÆre dead, very dead.  For a couple hundred years now.ö  
  446. Buffy said uneasily.
  447.  
  448. The girl gave a small laugh.  ôYes, I am dead, but IÆm coming to you in 
  449. a dream.  DonÆt be frightened.ö
  450.  
  451. ôWell, what do you want?ö 
  452.  
  453. ôTo tell you something very important.  It is about Angel.ö
  454.  
  455. Buffy felt a small lump in her throat.  ôIs he dead?ö  she uttered.
  456.  
  457. She smiled.  ôNo dear, he is alive, but in grave danger.  You must 
  458. rescue him as soon as possible.  Or else he will no longer be your 
  459. Angel.ö
  460.  
  461. ôWait a minute, why are you telling me this?  He killed you and your 
  462. family, what makes you want to help him?ö  Buffy asked.
  463.  
  464. ôYour wrong.  He didnÆt to all those horrible things.  Not Angel, but 
  465. Angelus, the demon within him.  When you become a vampire, your soul 
  466. flees to safety, and is forced to watch the demon take over your body, 
  467. destroying everything dear to you.  Angel has been forgiven.  He has 
  468. redeemed himself by becoming good.  He no longer feeds on humans, and 
  469. has joined you in your fight against the forces of darkness.ö
  470.  
  471. Buffy didnÆt know what to say.  ôWill he become the new Master when the 
  472. sun goes down?ö
  473.  
  474. Mira nodded.  ôThat is why you must hurry.ö
  475.  
  476. ôBut how do I save him?  Spike and Drusilla have him captured, and he 
  477. canÆt go outside or the sun will kill him!ö  Buffy said exasperated.  ôI 
  478. canÆt lose him.  I love him.ö
  479.  
  480. ôI know.  That is why he will be given a second chance.  You must give 
  481. him a token of life.  It will be the key to his humanity.  It will 
  482. protect him from harm.ö 
  483.  
  484. ôWhat?  What is the key?ö  she desperately asked.
  485.  
  486. ôYou will know when you see it.ö
  487.  
  488. ôOh god, this is all too much for me to handle.ö  
  489.  
  490. ôYou are strong, Buffy.  Believe in yourself and you can do anything.ö
  491.  
  492. ôMira, why is Hope here?  There has to be a reason.ö
  493.  
  494. ôShe is here to help you.  She will fight by your side.  She has the 
  495. power within her.ö
  496.  
  497. ôWhat power?  How does she have power like that?  She isnÆt a slayer.ö
  498.  
  499. Mira gave Buffy an angelic smile.  ôDonÆt ask so many questions.  Just 
  500. have faith in her and in yourself.  She hasnÆt realized the gift she has 
  501. been give, but she will.ö
  502.

  546. around and saw that Buffy was gone.  ôSo she did escape?  IÆm surprised.

  551. ôHmm...letÆs see.  What do I want?  To be honest, I want to kill you.  
  552. You are a traitor.  But, you being my sire and all restricts me from 
  553. doing so, I have two options:  I can torture you, or, I can make that 
  554. damn soul of yours go away and return you to your true ways.ö

  556. Angel stood up.  ôThatÆs really funny Spike.  You amuse me to no end.ö

  560. out of his pocket.  It was small, and Angel couldnÆt tell what it was.

  562. Opening his palm, he saw that it was the claddagh ring that he had given 
  563. to Buffy.

  586. ring back from Angel and walked toward the door.  When his back was 
  587. turned, Angel lunged at him, knocking him down.  Spike kicked him away, 
  588. and quickly got back up.  Angel tried to lunge at him again, but two 
  589. vamps from out in the hall ran into the room after hearing the commotion 
  590. and held him back.  Spike rubbed his sore jaw.  ôItÆs only a matter of 
  591. time.ö  He said, and walked out the door.  One of the vamps grabbed a 
  592. baseball bat and hit Angel over the head with it, knocking him 
  593. unconscious.  They left, and slammed and locked the door shut behind 
  594. them.

  625. ôBuffy!  Wake up!  Buffy?ö  Hope shook her friend slightly.  Buffy had 
  626. been passed out on the couch for ten minutes, and nothing seemed to wake 
  627. her up.

  629. ôBuffy!ö  Hope went to the bathroom and grabbed a bottle of rubbing 
  630. alcohol from beneath the sink.  She poured a little on a cotton ball and 
  631. waved it underneath her friendÆs nose.  Buffy stirred, and slowly opened 
  632. her eyes.

  634. ôMira?  DonÆt go, Mira, tell me the key, I have to help Angel.ö  Buffy 
  635. murmured.

  637. ôBuffy, ItÆs Hope, not Mira.  Remember me?ö

  639. ôHelp me, Mira.  Please donÆt go,ö  she said, and closed her eyes again.

  641. ôBuffy!  No, donÆt close your eyes.  Uugghh!  What do I do?  What do I 
  642. do?ö  She was racked with worry.  An idea flashed in her mind.  She ran 
  643. to the kitchen and searched for a phonebook.  When she found one, she 
  644. looked up a number and grabbed the phone and dialed.

  656. in with what Willow just read to us.  Is it possible that Mira sent Hope 
  657. here to help Buffy?ö

  659. Giles thought for a moment.  ôIt is very likely.  But what would her

  1007. quickly died away as he emptied her body.  When he had drank every bit
