  73.  "Hello," a perky Buffy called out as she entered the library with 
  74. Willow and Xander the next morning.
  75.  
  76. "You are certainly happy this morning," Giles noticed.
  77.  
  78. "Well I got a good night's sleep, the first in weeks," Buffy announced.
  79.  
  80. "Good for you," Giles praised.
  81.  
  82. "So why are we here on a sunday, G-man," Xander asked 
  83. slightly annoyed at being woken up so early on a weekend.
  84.  
  85. "I told you not to call me that," Giles reprimanded. "And 
  86. Caitlin asked us to meet her in the library at noon," he 
  87. informed them.
  88.  
  89. "Is something wrong?" Willow asked.
  90.  
  91. "She didn't say, but..." 
  92.  
  93. Giles was cut off by the library doors opening and Caitlin 
  94. walking through them.
  95.  
  96. "Hi guys! Sorry I'm late, Angel was being overprotective," 
  97. Caitlin smiled slightly.
  98.  
  99. "Why?" Willow seemed confused.
  100.  
  101. " Because I'm leaving," she announced.
  102.  
  103. "Leaving, already?" Buffy questioned.
  104.  
  105. "Yeah, I have places to go, things to do, a cure to find. 
  106. You know the usual. I just wanted to say goodbye, and 
  107. to thank you for all your help."

  109. "When do you leave?" Giles asked.
  110.  
  111. "My plane leaves at 1:30, which means I need to be 
  112. getting on my way."
  113.  
  114. "We'll miss you," Willow informed. 
  115.  
  116. "Oh, don't worry, I had to pinky swear my brother that I 
  117. would write, and call, and visit, frequently," Caitlin laughed.
  118.  
  119. "Can we drive you to the airport?" Giles offered.
  120.  
  121. "No, I'll go myself. I hate tearful goodbyes," Caitlin answered.
  122.  
  123. After Caitlin hugged everyone, and said her goodbyes, she 
  124. turned towards the doors to leave she stopped and turned 
  125. towards the group once again. "You'll take care of him for me?" 
  126. she asked hopefully.
  127.  
  128. They all nodded in agreement. "He's so lucky to have found 
  129. friends like you," were her last words before exiting the library.
  130.  
  131. "Well, I have to get going," Buffy said.
  132.  
  133. "Where?" Giles, Willow, and Xander said in unison.
  134.  
  135. Buffy smiled and answered, "I'm going to see Angel. If he 
  136. won't come see me, I'll go see him."
  137.  
  138. "Buffy, I don't think that's such a good idea," Giles argued.
  139.  
  140. "This is just something I have to do. I need to know where 
  141. I stand with him,I don't expect you to understand," Buffy 
  142. finished, and then left the library as well.
  143.  
  144. "I hope she's doing the right thing," Willow said softly.

  147. Buffy took deep breaths before knocking on Angel's door. 
  148.  
  149. "I can't do this," she whispered to herself. "Yes, I can. Get 
  150. a hold of yourself, Buffy," she scolded.
  151.  
  152. She took one more deep breath and knocked loudly on the 
  153. door. After a moment or two she heard feet shuffling towards 
  154. the door. It opened to reveal Angel wearing a thin white t-shirt, 
  155. black sweatpants, and looking very sleepy. As soon as he 
  156. saw who was at the door, his eyes widened in disbelief.
  157.  
  158. "Buffy," he breathed.
  159.  
  160. "Hi," she answered shyly. "I hope I'm not bothering you, but 
  161. I'm... we really need to talk, I-I wanted to see how you were, 
  162. can I come in?" she rambled.
  163.  
  164. "Sure," he answered and ushered her in and shut the door.
  165.  
  166. Buffy glanced around the apartment, expecting it to look 
  167. different, but it comforted her knowing that it was exactly 
  168. the same as the last time she was here.
  169.  
  170. Angel watched Buffy as she glanced around the room, 
  171. before turning towards him once again. He waited for her 
  172. to speak.
  173.  
  174. "So...how are you doing?" she broke the silence.
  175.  
  176. "I'm getting by, I guess," he answered. "You?"
  177.  
  178. "I actually slept the whole night without a nightmare," she 
  179. smiled at him.
  180.  
  181. He smiled in return and looked towards the ground. "I know," 
  182. he said sheepishly.
  183.  
  184. "I had a feeling you did," she replied.
  185.  
  186. "Look Buffy, I..."
  187.  
  188. "Stop!" she said sternly. "I don't want to hear apologies 
  189. or excuses. You have nothing to be sorry for." 
  190.  
  191. "I hurt you, I hurt all of them, how can you say that?" he 
  192. asked surprised.
  193.  
  194. "Because it's true. It wasn't you, why can't you understand that?" 
  195.  
  196. "I wish I could," Angel whispered. "Why are you really here, Buffy?"
  197.  
  198. "I-I..I wanted to see you," she confessed. 
  199.  
  200. "God, I'm so sor......"
  201.  
  202. He was cut off by Buffy closing the distance between them 
  203. and pressing her lips firmly against his. If he wasn't going to 
  204. take the first step, she was going to take it instead. She loved 
  205. him far to much to let him get lost in his guilt, aside from the fact 
  206. that she wanted to be in his arms again, to revel in the fact 
  207. that her Angel came back to her. She just wanted things to 
  208. be like they were before.
  209.  
  210. Angel was taken by surprise when Buffy kissed him, he 
  211. hesitated at first then gave into her, he pulled her closer 
  212. to him and deepened the kiss. It felt so good having her 
  213. in his arms again he couldn't hold back. To know that she 
  214. still wanted him even after everything that had happened, 
  215. overwhelmed his senses. When he knew she needed air 
  216. he slowly pulled away from her.
  217.  
  218. Buffy kept her eyes closed and took in the feel and scent 
  219. of him, then slowly opened her eyes and leaned her forehead 
  220. against his. "I love you," she whispered.
  221.  
  222. "I never stopped loving you," was his answer.
  223.  
  224. "Hold me," she pleaded.
  225.  
  226. He wrapped his arms around her instantly and held her 
  227. tightly in his embrace, while she layed her head over his 
  228. heart, and entwined her arms around his neck. 
  229.  
  230. "Are we okay?" Angel asked quietly.
  231.  
  232. "You still want there to be an us?" Buffy asked hopefully.
  233.  
  234. He nodded and looked deep into her eyes seeing all the love 
  235. she held for him. 
  236.  
  237. She smiled and the tears she was holding back began to spill 
  238. down her cheeks. "God, I missed you so much," she sobbed. 
  239.  
  240. "I missed you," he stated, while wiping away her tears. Then 
  241. he went to stroking her hair, content in the fact that she had 
  242. forgiven him, and continued to love him.
