this is turning out to be like THE best weekend Ever.Ok so I went to the
Mall on Friday and walked into Wallden Books and there in front of me
were the 2 new BtVS books: Return to Chaos and Child of the Hunt. then I
went to Barnes and Noble and found the Buffy Mag. ANd the Buffy X-Posed
book.THEN, when I went to go see I Still Know... there was a "Cruel
Intentions" PreVue. AHHH I love this. But only 1 complaint, there is a
pic in the Buffy X-posed book that is supposed to be Juliet Landau but it
is Jessica Beil!! you people should see it. there is NO resemblance what
soever. God.

Well... I got back about a half an hour ago. I was the 10th person in line to
see David in the Dallas Galleria's Original Levi's Store. He was gonna come
out at noon, so I got there a little before 9. It was grrrreat! He was
really nice when he signed my magazine (first Buffy edition. I still can't
find the 2nd one anywhere!) I met some really nice people in line. I met 2
freshmen who were super sweet, one nice lady who said she was on this list
(HI!!!) and another lady who insisted she was only there to get David's
autograph for her 4 year old son (yeah, right!). It was really great. I'm
going to scan in the magazine cover and pictures later on, and if I have any
good pictures I'll be sure to offer them out!!! Later on I went back to see
if I could sneak a peak through the window display, and I could. Once every 6
or 7 minutes, one of the workers would shift feet and I'd get another peak ot
him. Then, some people were saying ASH was in there!!! I tried and tried to
look around, but I really think they were lying. Why would he go there?
Anyways... any one else go? I'd like to hear your stories!
Jess
PS-
Oh yeah... when he was signing my magezine he asked me how I was, then drew a
little to seth green (on the cover) and he said "We all love Seth." Just

From: Marusky@aol.com
Subject: Re: BUFFY: Bashing anyone who's not Angel
I'm gonna throw my two cents in just because I want to. I love the Buffy-Angel
relationship (Note: I did not say Angel himself- I'll deal with that in just a
little bit). I'm a reader of Laurell K. Hamilton (rooting for Richard all the
way), Alice Alfonso, and other supernatural romances. I'm gonna try to explain
the appeal. I love the classic slayer(human)-vampire relationship because of
the impossible that ends up being possible. From the first episode I saw, I
knew he was going to be a vampire and looked forward to it.
First, Angel himself. The best reason I have for liking him is that he was a
base for Buffy. He was there for her (I'm talking the REAL Angel here not
Angelus, please don't argue with me. Angelus=demon, case closed for me), he
was what she needed when she needed it. Plus, he is serious fantasy material-
dark, brooding (unfortunately to the point of excess), and gorgeous. Just to
be fair, I hate the utter angst and the self-denial issues he has. They are
getting old.
As both a reader and an author of supernatural fiction and romance, I love
this plot for its possibilities. The characters (all of them but especially
Angel and Buffy) have great potential that Joss can always draw upon and
usually does.
However, I am getting a little sick of the angst. After the angst, as a
general plot device, there are only a few choices 1) give up on the
relationship (tissue warning, but an okay decision) 2) go ahead with the
relationship to hell with the consequences (not so good, ineffective and
unrealistic if simply used as a conclusion with no continuation) 3) the human
becomes a vampire (depends on the author- ie: Maive Tremaine and Calder
Holbrooke, can't remember the author, that worked) Angel and Buffy need
resolution. As a romantic, I would be all for them staying together, but it
must be dealt with very carefully.
Just because I like Buffy and Angel does not mean I hate Xander. Every issue
has two sides and I can see his too. He is doing what he thinks is best,
whether that's protecting Buffy (the whole lie in Becoming) or hating Angel
(Xander sees him as an emotional and physical threat). Of course, what he does
isn't always right and he can be very self-absorbed, but the intentions are
good.
There's no one on this show I hate (if anything I simply love to hate them-
Snyder). This show is so like the real world that everyone is complex and no
one can be pigeon-holed. There are things I like about all of them and things
I don't like. Nothing is that simple. But on a totally shallow point, more
Buffy and Angel and I'm not ashamed!
Thanks for letting me babble,
Marusky :)

> never existed (because she failed to save her from near death). Her

did anyone else read this and instantly think of it's a wonderful life, like i
did? except it's like the flipside. instead of wishing she were never born,
like james stewart did, cordy wishes buffy had never been born. i am assuming
then that this ep will air around the christmas holiday?
also wondering if, like stewart did about his own life in it's a wonderful
life, cordy may start appreciating buffy more? could this mean we will see a
kinder, gentler cordy after this? if this does prove to be the case, i keep
fingers crossed that willow and cordy at least exchange some hair pulling
before then.

Subject: BUFFY: Buffy Bests in December "Teen"
For those who don't already know, the December issue of
"Teen" magazine has a number of Buffy mentions in its
"Entertainment Yearbook" awards:
"Best TV Love Scene" to Angel and Buffy, "Best Bad Boy"
to David, "Funniest Babe" to Seth. Plus, Sarah's & Nick's
favorite all-time movies, and a humorous quote from Seth
on how he responds when people ask him what Sarah is
really like.
However, you Dawson's Creek bashers should be forewarned
that they awarded DC the "Best TV Show" title (and funee
is laughing all the way to the catsup store).

There are no plans at all for Sarah to make an appearance on Dawson's Creek.
Where do all these rumors keep coming from? I hope they're not all coming
from that comment she made last year about wanting to be on the show in a
coma. SMG can't crossover to DC anyway, it wouldn't work because the
viewer's of DC associate her too much with Buffy. She has about as much
chance of being on DC as a Buffy/Xena crossover.

The difference between Cruel Intentions and Basic Instinct, is that BI had a
great director, while CI was directed by Roger Kumble, most notable for
absolutely nothing. If you've seen National Lampoon's Senior Trip, you probably
know why. I imagine he went purely for shock value in Cruel Intentions, and it
doesn't work too well.

But that's not the analogy that ANGEL would use. His attitude
toward Drusilla in "Lie to Me" is not that she's someone else who
is now driving the car of a woman who someone used Angel's car
to kill. His attitude is that SHE is the victim of what HE did.
