Hello list, anybody have a comment for CSilver??
My suggest is that if is flat is possible to tune it.
Manuel.
he wrote::::
Hi there,
I got your email address from your web page. I bought a quena from a
man who said that he made it. He played it for me and showed me with
his tuner that it was in perfect pitch. Now I'm teaching myself to
play it and I'm making music out of it, but a couple of the notes are
distinctly flat. I bought a chromatic tuner and the F# (just the
thumb) and G (completely open) are definitely flat unless I completely
change how I blow. (The man who sold me the quena also gave me a copy
of a fingering chart.) All other notes are in perfect pitch. Oh, and I
was sure that this was a C instrument except all the quenas I've seen
mentioned on the web so far say 'quena in G'. I'm confused.
Is it possible that the quena I have is flawed? Or is this common to
have to change how one blows past the hole for the F# and the G? If
you wouldn't mind shedding some light on my situation, I'd be very
grateful.
Thanks,
Craig Silver

Subject: (andina) Fiesta Andina - new recording
Date: 16 Jul 1998 12:07:29 -0400 (EDT)
Hi folks,
The little band I play with has a new recording and a redesigned
homepage with Real Audio sound samples - have a look:
http://www.hub.org/~rob/fiesta_andina/
The recording is only sort of available - we're not selling it
commercially because we didn't get many cassettes made. It was
recorded in a small 8-track digital studio and we're quite happy
with it, but it's probably not what you'd call a real professional
job. Hey, but we're not professionals :-)
I'd welcome your feedback on the samples, however!

Hmmm... do you mean that in a good way or a bad way?
That is a heavily reworked version of the Jaime Guardia song of the
same name on his *amazing* "El Charango del Peru" album. We stole
one theme and built a new song out of it. We debated whether or not
we should have used that title, in fact.

OOPPPS... sorry about that. Let me take off my "teenage street hudlum" hat
off.
I enjoyed the piece very much. I'm not familiar with the original
arrangement, but yours
was quite uplifting.
