  7. I found this book for sale:
  8.     MELODIES POPULAIRES INDIENNES EQUATEUR, PEROUS,
  9.     BOLIVIE.  By Raoul d=27Harcourt
  10. It contains around 120 pages of music notation and is reported to
  11. be a very good reference book with many pictures of various
  12. instruments etc.  The asking price is =24225 US, too rich for me.
  13. The book seller is prepared to photocopy all 120 music pages for
  14. =241 US plus postage, alas also too much.

  37. This book printed in 1922 contains music for 40-50 songs about 120 pages =
  38. of music notation.  Harry Nudel has it for sale, advertised
  39. at =24225 US.  After negotiating with him he is willing to let it go at =
  40. =24125
  41. plus postage.  I just don=27t have that much to spare right now.  Is =
  42. anyone interested??

  44. I would love to get a copy of the music but not really interested in
  45. owning the book.

  47. Anyone willing to share the cost of purchase, you can have the book
  48. I=27ll be satisfied with copies of the music???

  65. You might be able to borrow a copy of the book for a few weeks through Interlibrary Loan at your local library.  There would probably be
  66. a fee for the service, but significantly less than the cost of buying the book, and you could copy the pages you want.
  67. I just checked the database at my university and found a citation for a book which I assume is the  same as the one you mentioned:
  68. "Melodies populaires indiennes: Equateur, Perou, Bolivie", by Marguerite Harcourt, 1923, 127 pages, "Indian dialect and French words
  69. with music for 1 voice with piano acc."
  70. which is available from several libraries in the United States.  I don't know if you would be able to borrow it on Interlibrary Loan in
  71. Australia, but I used to work in Interlibrary Loan and we occasionally got books from out of the country when they weren't available
  72. anywhere closer, so it might be worth a try.

  110. Umm well I asked at our local library and they told me that Interlibrary =
  111. loan did not allow them to borrow the actual book but they can get =
  112. photocopies at much greater than normal rate.  By past experience the cost =
  113. is such that I may as well just buy the book.

  115. I don=27t know if this is just bad advice or if Australia=27s interlibrary =
  116. system just plain stinks.  It=27s just soooo frustrating here I can=27t
  117. seem to get anything especially foreign language publications=21=21
  118.  
  119. It is only through the kindness of people on this list that I have been =
  120. able to obtain the few book I have, mind you that=27s a lot of songs
  121. but I always greedily want more, more more (grin).
