  25. F.  Comments:  This message is for users of the NOAA/SEC Space
  26. Weather Operations sunspot region numbers. As you
  27. may have noticed, region number 10000 was assigned
  28. on June 14. Space Weather operations is going
  29. through the sequence of Region numbers as 9998,
  30. 9999, 0000, 0001, and so on. SEC's product text
  31. discussions of the active regions will ignore the
  32. leading zeroes (for example, we will say 'Region
  33. number 5' rather than Region number '0005'). However,
  34. the Geoalert product, the Region Report product, as
  35. well as the USAF and ISES data exchange codes will
  36. preserve the 4 digit format. The necessity of using
  37. four digits is for operational purposes only. For
  38. historical purposes all regions beyond Region 9999
  39. will be understood to be in a series of region numbers
  40. 10000 and higher.
