  1. Setting up Windows 98/Me (and Windows 95 with IE 4+) for Zipcon

  4. Go into My Computer / Control Panel / Internet Options
  5.  
  6. Now click on the Connections tab at the top.
  7.  
  8. Click on the Setup or Connect button near the top, this
  9. will launch the Internet Connection Wizard.
  10.  
  11. You'll see either this:
  12.  
  13.    Choose "I have an existing Internet Account through my phone line..."
  14.    Click Next
  15.    Choose "Select this option if you are accessing the Internet
  16.        using an Internet service provider or a local area network (LAN)"
  17.    Click Next

  20. Or you'll see:
  21.  
  22.    "I want to set up my internet connection manually"
  23.    Click Next
  24.  
  25.  
  26. Choose "Connect using a phone line and modem."
  27. Click Next
  28.  
  29. Choose "Create a new dial-up connection."
  30. Click Next

  32. Enter your own area code in the area code box, then for "Telephone
  33. number:" enter 206-576-7500 (all 10 digits, dashes are optional).
  34. Click Next

  36. Type in your User name and password.  Your user name is also called
  37. your login name in some documents.  It is all lowercase.
  38. Click Next
  39.  
  40. Select "No" if it asked "Do you want to change the advanced settings
  41. for this connection?"
  42. Click Next

  44. For "Connection Name" put in "Zipcon"
  45. Click Next
  46.  
  47. Choose "Yes" for "Do you want to set up an Internet mail account now?"
  48. Click Next

  50. Choose "Create a new Internet mail account"
  51.  
  52. For display name, fill in your real name, for instance:
  53.     John Doe
  54. Click Next
  55.  
  56. Your email address is your username followed by @zipcon.com, for instance:
  57.     johnd@zipcon.com
  58. You can also use @zipcon.net ( for example johnd@zipcon.net )
  59. Click Next

  61. Choose My incoming mail server is a "POP3" server.
  62. The Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server AND the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server
  63. are "mail.zipcon.net"
  64. Click Next
  65.  
  66. Choose "Log on using" and fill in your username (also called login name)
  67. in the "POP account name" box (this is all lowercase without the @zipcon.net
  68. at the end, for instance 'johnd'.  Put your password in the "Password" box.
  69. Please be sure not to check the box in the "SPA".
  70. Click Next

  72. For the "Internet mail account name" leave mail.zipcon.net there.
  73. Click Next

  75. Choose "Yes" for "Do you want to set up an Internet news account now?"
  76. Click Next

  78. For "Display name" fill in your real name, for instance:

  81. Click Next

  83. Your email address is your username followed by @zipcon.com, for instance:
  84.     johnd@zipcon.com
  85. You can also use @zipcon.net ( for example johnd@zipcon.net )
  86. Click Next

  88. The "News (NNTP) server" is "news.zipcon.net"
  89. Do not check the box "My news server requires me to log on"
  90. Click Next

  92. Leave "news.zipcon.net" in the "Internet news account name" field.
  93. Click Next
  94.  
  95. Choose "No" to "Do you want to set up your Internet directory service
  96. account.
  97. Click Next
  98.  
  99. Click Finish.

  101. Done!!!     You are now ready to connect to Zipcon.  Just double click on
  102. Internet Explorer to browse the web, and double click on Outlook Express
