  16. This diskette contains the Treasury Department's bond pricing
  17. application (CRV) which allows microcomputer users to determine current
  18. redemption values for Series I, EE, & E savings bonds and savings notes by
  19. entering denomination, issue date, and series information.  The program
  20. was designed for use with an IBM-compatible microcomputer with MS or
  21. PC-DOS, Version 2.0 or higher and at least 384K of memory.  As the
  22. program runs, you should follow the instructions given in the prompts
  23. and enter the required information.  The program will return the
  24. current redemption value for each item as well as provide a running
  25. total of the redemption values and interest accumulated for each bond
  26. pricing transaction.

  29. II. Installing and Running CRV from a Hard (Fixed) Disk
  30. =======================================================

  32. Although CRV can be run from the provided diskette, we strongly
  33. suggest that you install and run it from a hard disk drive.  CRV will
  34. respond much faster on a hard disk.

  37.    To Install CRV on a Hard Disk Drive
  38.    -----------------------------------
  39.  
  40.       1.  Insert the program diskette in a 3 1/2", 1.44 megabyte
  41.           diskette drive.
  42.  
  43.       2.  Change the default drive to the drive in which you have
  44.           inserted the diskette and type:
  45.  
  46.              install
  47.  
  48.           and press ENTER.
  49.  
  50.           For example, if the diskette is in drive A, type:

  54.           and press ENTER, then at the A:\> prompt, type:

  58.           and press ENTER.

  60.       3.  INSTALL asks the user to provide appropriate responses to a
  61.           series of questions.  After the answers have been provided,
  62.           INSTALL will copy files from the diskette to your hard disk
  63.           drive. The INSTALL program will display the file names as the
  64.           files are copied.

  66.       4.  When the installation is successfully completed, a message
  67.           will indicate that the files have been copied onto the hard
  68.           disk drive and you will hear three beeps to indicate that the
  69.           installation routine is complete.

  72.    To Run CRV from the Hard Disk
  73.    -----------------------------

  75.       1.  At the hard disk drive prompt, change to the directory where
  76.           the program files were installed. For example, if the program
  77.           files were installed using the default settings, i.e., on the
  78.           "C" drive in a directory called "CRV," at the C:\> prompt you
  79.           would type:

  83.           and press ENTER.

  85.       2.  At the C:\CRV> prompt, type:

  89.           and press ENTER to start CRV.

  91.       3.  As the program runs, follow the instructions given in the
  92.           prompts and enter the requested information. The program
  93.           offers a series of function keys, including a "HELP"
  94.           function, which are listed in a menu at the bottom of the
  95.           bond pricing screen.

  97.       4.  When you conclude a pricing transaction, exit from the
  98.           program and, at the C:\CRV> prompt, type:

  102.           and press ENTER if you wish to return to the root directory
  103.           on the hard disk.

  107. III. Running CRV from a Diskette Drive
  108. ======================================

  110.       1.  Insert the program diskette in a 3 1/2", 1.44 megabyte

  139. IV. Other Files
  140. ===============

  142. Two other text files are included on the diskette.  These files have
  143. answers to Frequently Asked Questions about CRV (CRVFAQ.TXT),  
  144. and suggestions about printing on Windows(tm) 95 and later OSs
  145. (CRVWIN95.TXT).  You can read any of these files in a text editor or
  146. word processor.  In Windows, double-clicking on one should
  147. automatically launch your text editor so that you can view it.  See
  148. the paper document included with this diskette for more complete
  149. information about these files.
