Toolbook Animation
==================
I have put an example toolbook file on the server. If you have
Toolbook you can pull it apart and see how it works. If you
have Video for Windows you can use it to make a movie.
Getting the Files
=================
G-PROT.TBK is the animation file itself.
CATCHDIB.DLL is a little bit of code in a DLL which allows you to
easily save a snapshot of the Toolbook Window (or any other window
for that matter) as a device independant bitmap file.
Both are binary so remember to switch on binary mode.
Running
=======
Page 2 has the animation. It works on two principles - hiding and
showing named Toolbook objects and moving objects along the vertices
of a hidden Toolbook angled line. Press the Animate button.
There is considerable flicker which could have been eliminated by
freezing/unfreezing the toolbook window. However there is no need to
worry about this if the intention is to create a Vid4Win file because
only still images are saved into bitmap files.
Creating A Vid4Win file
=======================
Press the Set File Name button. Enter a base file name E.g. "test".
Now press the animate button. The animation will run slowly because
it is saving images as it goes along - you should see hard disc
activity. At the end you'll find a number of files on your disc:
test0.dib, test1.dib ........ test30.dib....... etc.
These can be loaded directly into Vid4Win or (theoretically so far)
converted into some Mac format and made into a Quicktime movie!!!!
BioNet members only
===================
For a limited period only - special offer. Send me your Toolbook
file (not the bitmaps) and I'll convert into a Vid4Win file. Then
you can show your head of dept. and buy your own Vid4Win!!
