  22. Recommendation D.4 details the provisions applicable to leased 
  23. international (continental and intercontinental) sound- and 
  24. television-programme circuits and associated control circuits for 
  25. private service. The provisions of Recommendation D.4 should be 
  26. applied in conjunction with Recommendation D.1, except where 
  27. specifically stated otherwise.

  29. Sound- and television-programme circuits provided on an occasional 
  30. basis are subject to the provisions of Recommendation D.180. 
  31. Provisions governing the technical aspects and maintenance of 
  32. sound- and television-programme circuits are contained in the 
  33. J-, M-, and N- Series Recommendations.

  35. The general principles as stated in º 1 of Recommendations D.1 and 
  36. D.180, where applicable for leased international sound- and 
  37. television-programme circuits, shall serve for  Recommendation D.4. 
  38. The Administrations concerned may agree upon additional principles, if 
  39. desired.

  41. Recommendation D.4 is intended to cover the use of circuits for 
  42. sound- and television-programme transmission purposes only, unless 
  43. otherwise agreed upon by the Administrations providing the circuits.

  45. Recommendation D.4 includes an example of an international 
  46. sound-programme connection and of an international television-programme 
  47. connection involving a satellite circuit, precises the principles 
  48. applicable to duration of the lease charging and cancellation, 
  49. particularly in case of allowance for interruption. It also states 
  50. the special conditions applicable to leased sound- and/or 
  51. television-programme circuits (two-way circuits, interconnection, 
  52. offered bandwidths, use of the vertical blanking interval).
