@HEADLINE 2 = <%-2>Ventura Publisher Defines Desktop Publishing<%0>
SAN DIEGO, CA, Summer, 1990 <197> Ventura Publisher incorporates Expanded
Memory Support (<B>EMS<D>) for larger doc<->uments like books and
technical man<->uals, as well as densely packed pages such as telephone
directories and catalogs. Different modes of automatic <B>vertical
justification<D> allow users to fill a specified space with text,
a feature not previously available in desktop <->publishing.
New advanced footnoting capabilities let footnotes span multiple pages,
an essential feature for legal documents.
Ventura Publisher also provides complete WYSIWYG (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get)
generation of <B>equa<->tions<D>. Users can create complex equa<->tions
by typing simple commands. The equation is then immediately displayed
while line spac<->ing adjust automatically to accommodate the equation.
Complex <B>tables<D> can be easily generated and material may be imported
from pop<->ular spreadsheet packages like Lotus 1-2-3.
Using Ventura Publisher's <B>cross ref<->erence<D> features, any location
in a document may be marked and a location reference generated to
permit the insertion of items such as chapter number, page number
of the marker, and figure number of table number of a frame.
