  1.                       HOW THE MENUS WORK

  5.     1. Press the Alt key followed by the first letter of the menu you
  6.        want.  For example, to display the Print Menu, press Alt-P; to
  7.        display the Display Menu, press Alt-D.

  9.     2. Press the F10 key.  This will display the File Menu.  You can
  10.        choose an option from the File Menu in two ways:

  12.        a) You can point to the option you want with the up and down
  13.           arrow keys and then press Enter.
  14.        b) You can press the first letter of the option you want.
  15.  
  16.        To use menus other than the File Menu, press the left and right
  17.        arrow keys to move to a different menu.  This is also a good way
  18.        to familiarize yourself with all the different menu choices
  19.        available.

  21.                                   Remember:
  22.            YOU CAN ALWAYS PRESS THE ESC KEY TO CANCEL WHAT YOU ARE
  23.                               CURRENTLY DOING.
  24.        If you are in a menu, pressing the Esc key will cancel that
  25.        menu.

  27.     3. Press the appropriate shortcut keystroke and bypass the menus
  28.        entirely.  A single keystroke, enclosed within parentheses, is
  29.        listed to the right of many menu options; press this to choose
  30.        the corresponding option.  For example, to the right of the
  31.        first option on the Edit Menu, Find String, you'll see (^F).
  32.        This means that you can press ^F (Ctrl-F) to immediately execute
  33.        the Find String option without using the menus at all.

  35.        This method is designed for advanced users who want to speed up
  36.        the operation of PC-OUTLINE.  You will notice that every menu
  37.        option does not have a shortcut keystroke listed.  This is
  38.        because there is a limited number of shortcut keystroke
  39.        combinations available.  If you want some menu options to have
  40.        shortcut keystrokes that don't already have them, or if you want
  41.        to change some of the existing shortcuts, you can define your
  42.        own shortcut keystrokes with the Key Definition option on the
  43.        Advanced Menu.  There is more about this option in the printed
  44.        manual.
