  1. Notes from the Author

  3.     In America today, there seems to be an unwritten rule that
  4. art can be explicit or erotic, but not both.  With the help of my
  5. colleagues here at Dragon's Eye, I've tried to break that rule, and
  6. this is the result!  I hope you've enjoyed what we have created. 
  7. Here are a few notes about the stories and the people that worked on
  8. them...
  9.     |
  10.     The title of The Pearl Beyond All Price was inspired by an
  11. erotic journal published in England in the Victorian Age, titled
  12. simply 'The Pearl'.  Back then, 'pearl' was a commonly used slang
  13. term for 'clitoris'.
  14.     |
  15.     Gen Oaktree, a published novelist and computer game author,
  16. said to mention that she believes in always researching her subjects
  17. heavily before she starts writing.  Any volunteers out there?  (I
  18. really do have notes on the properties of various kinds of chocolates
  19. filed away somewhere...  When Pixel saw Gen's story, she just had to
  20. do some research of her own!)

  22.     We're going to keep quiet about what inspired our chess
  23. story.  I will mention the memorable line "I seem to remember sucking
  24. on a pawn at some point", but I'm not going to say who said that, or
  25. why...

  28.     Our Ace # Arrow adventure came from my desire to come up with
  29. some characters we could use again in future collections, and my love
  30. of James Bond movies.  Now what to write next - The Man with the
  31. Golden Cock?  Or Ace of Diamonds, Ace of Death?

  33.     Other works by the Sexotica team: 'Manda Dee recently had an
  34. 8 page comic book story published by Eros press.  It's a sexy version
  35. of Little Red Riding Hood (that wolf sure knows how to eat
  36. Grandma!), and it appears in the first issue of Big Wankin' Tales. 
  37. 'Manda's art also appears in the upcoming game Monster Bash.]

  40.     Dr. Cat (hey, that's me!) is best known for his computer game
  41. design work.  Some of his more recent efforts can be seen in Ultima
  42. Underworld II, and the Gameboy cartridge Ultima: Runes of Virtue.

  44.     Butch Haircut and Marsha Lamp had their first gig recently
  45. playing live at one of the big national computer shows.  They're
  46. still hoping for a shot at the big time if they can get a chance to
  47. open for European Sex Machine in concert...]
  48. About Dragon's Eye

  50.     We're dedicated to helping creative people find opportunities
  51. to do the kind of work they want # be happy doing it, to bringing the
  52. public the kind of top-quality entertainment they want, to leaving
  53. the world a better place than we found it, and to making a buck or
  54. two along the way.  We're trying to re-invent the idea of a
  55. "company", to create a way people can work together as
  56. friends, without the web of obligations and dependencies that make
  57. people get upset with each other at most companies.  We're trying to
  58. blur the line between work and play until nobody can tell the
  59. difference.  Wish us luck!]
  60. A few words on Safe Sex

  62.     Unlike some, we'd like to say "Viewers, please DO try these
  63. things at home!"  But be responsible.  Sex is even more fun if you
  64. take care to make sure there's nothing to worry about first!  Use
  65. birth control (unless you're attempting to conceive a child), get
  66. tested for HIV and for other STD's once a year (or more for some -
  67. you know who you are), and use condoms whenever there's any doubt.
  68. Remember, sex with a condom is lots more fun than crossword puzzles
  69. with no condom!  And Pixel wants you to live a long time so you can read
