  52. If the control of installation  had been star- ted and the wanted program has been installed, FINISH the control of installation. %
  53. CleanIt works in the following way:

  69. The program  you  want  to install  has  to be named at your choice  with 50 characters maxi- mum. 0
  70. Furthermore  the drive is to be destinated  on which the program shall be installed. If it is another drive than the one of Windows,  never- theless the directory structure of the Windows drive will be scanned because some of the pro- grams will at anyway  install directories  and files on this drive.

  74. Start the uninstallation. 
  75. CleanIt works in the following way: 
  76.  - If in  OPTIONS/UNINSTALLATION.../UNDO UNIN-
  77.    STALLATION  the option  POSSIBLE is activa-
  78.    ted,  first  all files  of the program  you
  79.    want  to delete  will with the help  of the
  80.    packer  LHA 2.55b compressed  and stored in
  81.    1-2 files. Directory structure, position of
  82.    the files  and contents of the system files
  83.    SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI are at the same time
  84.    recorded.
  85.  - All directories  and  files  of the program
  86.    will be deleted.
  87.  - All entries in the system files  SYSTEM.INI
  88.    and WIN.INI will be cleared.
  89. Notice: ,
  90.  - The DOS system files  CONFIG.SYS and  AUTO-
  91.    EXEC.BAT will not be adjusted automatically
  92.    because this could lead to the impossibili-
  93.    ty to boot  the computer.  Use the log file
  94.    (to find  in  STATUS/STATUS...)  to  adjust
  95.    them by hand.
  96.  - On the  other  hand  in the  Windows system
  97.    files SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI will ALL alte-
  98.    rations be undone (and not only those found
  99.    beneath a title in angular parentheses).
  100.    Exception:  In the WIN.INI  below the title
  101.    [WINDOWS] the line  which begins with LOAD=
  102.    will not be changed.

  105. If in OPTIONS/UNINSTALLATION.../UNDO UNINSTAL- LATION  the option  POSSIBLE was activated du- ring the last uninstallation and thus a backup of the program was made  then it is  with this choice possible to restore  (only) the Windows system files SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI in the DI- RECTORY OF CLEANIT.

If in OPTIONS/UNINSTALLATION.../UNDO UNINSTAL- LATION  the option  POSSIBLE was activated du- ring the last uninstallation and thus a backup of the program was made  then it is  with this choice possible to restore  the Windows system files  SYSTEM.INI  and  WIN.INI  and the unin- stalled program at the SAME PLACE as before.

  258. Here you have the possibility  to undo the un- installation. 
  259. Undo uninstallation 
  260.  Uninstallation  of  Windows  programs  can be
  261.  full of problems. For example you install one
  262.  with all its  runtime libraries  (*.DLL).  If
  263.  you then install  one more Windows program it
  264.  might have access  to the same runtime libra-
  265.  ries.  If the first program  will be deleted,
  266.  the  second program  crashes  because it does
  267.  not find  these files.  With this option  you
  268.  can avoid that.
  269.  - possible: During  the  uninstallation   all
  270.              files of the program  you want to
  271.              delete  will with the help of the
  272.              packer  LHA 2.55b compressed  and
  273.              stored  in 1-2  files.  Directory
  274.              structure,  position of the files
  275.              and  contents of the system files
  276.              SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI are at the
  277.              same time recorded.  Happens that
  278.              what is described above  the pro-
  279.              gram can be reinstalled.  Use the
  280.              log file  (to find in STATUS/STA-
  281.              TUS...) to delete it by hand.
  282.              Notice:  The backup  is automati-
  283.              cally deleted  as soon as another
  284.              program will be (un)installed.
  285.  - impossible: Ignores  this  security measure
  286.                and  with that  accelerates the
  287.                uninstallation considerably.
  288.                 GENERAL  HINTS
  289.       FOR  THE OPERATION OF THE PROGRAM:

  296. You can use  CleanIt  as well as in  DOS as in WINDOWS. &
  297.          INSTALLATION/UNINSTALLATION
  298. A program  can only be uninstalled  if CleanIt has controlled its installation before. There- fore  CleanIt is to be started, PROGRAMS/INSTALLATION...  (or F3) to be chosen and the control of installation to be STARTed. After that  you have to exit  CleanIt  (if you use Windows this is not necessary)  and to in- stall the wanted program. At last  CleanIt has to be started again,  PROGRAMS/INSTALLATION... (or F3)  to be chosen  and the control  of in- stallation to be FINISHed. ]
  299. Each program  registered by CleanIt can be de- leted by PROGRAMS/UNINSTALLATION... (or F4). 
  300. If in OPTIONS/UNINSTALLATION.../UNDO UNINSTAL- LATION  the option POSSIBLE is activated,  you can restore  either  ONLY  the  Windows system files  SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI  by PROGRAMS/RE- STORE INI FILES  or ALSO  the last uninstalled program by PROGRAMS/RESTORE PROGRAM. w
  301. If during the last uninstallation a backup was made, it is possible to delete it by PROGRAMS/ DELETE PROGRAM FINALLY. 
  302. With  OPTIONS/SPEED... you have the possibi- lity  to choose  the speed of the program  and with OPTIONS/UNINSTALLATION... to undo the un- installation. (

  304. In STATUS/STATUS... (or F2)  the following in- formations are indicated  for each program in- stalled:

  316. /INSTALLATION PROTOCOL... it is possible  to read  and edit  the protocol file created  for each program.  In case of a fatal alteration which leads to the impossibility of reading  the protocol file,  the original file can be restored with FILES/OPEN 
  317. /RESTORE PRO- TOCOL. 
  318. In  FILES/OPEN 
  319. /UNINSTALLATION  PROTOCOL  you are able to look into the protocol file  which is created by each uninstallation. .
