With that you are able to change the order of program names in the status list afterwards. Status Change name... Herewith you can change the name of each pro- gram afterwards. Status Delete name... If a program was uninstalled by hand it can be taken off the list by that. Programs Installation... or Start the control of installation. If the wanted program has not been installed yet, START the control of installation now. After input of the program name and of the drive on which the program shall be installed, CleanIt works in the following way: - Scanning the directory structure - Scanning the files which are in the follow- ing directories: - Main directory - Windows directory - Windows system directory - Scanning the system files - CONFIG.SYS - AUTOEXEC.BAT - SYSTEM.INI - WIN.INI If the control of installation had been star- ted and the wanted program has been installed, FINISH the control of installation. % CleanIt works in the following way: - Scanning the directory structure - Comparing with the old directory structure - Scanning the files which are in the follow- ing directories: - Main directory - Windows directory - Windows system directory - Comparing with the old files of these di- rectories - Scanning the system files - CONFIG.SYS - AUTOEXEC.BAT - SYSTEM.INI - WIN.INI - Comparing with the old system files The program you want to install has to be named at your choice with 50 characters maxi- mum. 0 Furthermore the drive is to be destinated on which the program shall be installed. If it is another drive than the one of Windows, never- theless the directory structure of the Windows drive will be scanned because some of the pro- grams will at anyway install directories and files on this drive. Programs Uninstallation... or Start the uninstallation. CleanIt works in the following way: - If in OPTIONS/UNINSTALLATION.../UNDO UNIN- STALLATION the option POSSIBLE is activa- ted, first all files of the program you want to delete will with the help of the packer LHA 2.55b compressed and stored in 1-2 files. Directory structure, position of the files and contents of the system files SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI are at the same time recorded. - All directories and files of the program will be deleted. - All entries in the system files SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI will be cleared. Notice: , - The DOS system files CONFIG.SYS and AUTO- EXEC.BAT will not be adjusted automatically because this could lead to the impossibili- ty to boot the computer. Use the log file (to find in STATUS/STATUS...) to adjust them by hand. - On the other hand in the Windows system files SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI will ALL alte- rations be undone (and not only those found beneath a title in angular parentheses). Exception: In the WIN.INI below the title [WINDOWS] the line which begins with LOAD= will not be changed. Programs Restore INI files If in OPTIONS/UNINSTALLATION.../UNDO UNINSTAL- LATION the option POSSIBLE was activated du- ring the last uninstallation and thus a backup of the program was made then it is with this choice possible to restore (only) the Windows system files SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI in the DI- RECTORY OF CLEANIT. Programs Restore program If in OPTIONS/UNINSTALLATION.../UNDO UNINSTAL- LATION the option POSSIBLE was activated du- ring the last uninstallation and thus a backup of the program was made then it is with this choice possible to restore the Windows system files SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI and the unin- stalled program at the SAME PLACE as before. Programs Delete program finally If during the last uninstallation a backup was made it will be deleted and the capacity of the hard disk extended. Files Open Allows editing the four system files 8 - CONFIG.SYS - AUTOEXEC.BAT - SYSTEM.INI - WIN.INI Furthermore you are able to look in and edit the installation protocol created by CleanIt for each program as well as the uninstallation protocol. Files Open CONFIG.SYS or Alt+C Shows the system file CONFIG.SYS and allows its editing. Files Open AUTOEXEC.BAT or Alt+A Shows the system file AUTOEXEC.BAT and allows its editing. Files Open SYSTEM.INI or Alt+S Shows the system file SYSTEM.INI and allows its editing. Files Open WIN.INI or Alt+W Shows the system file WIN.INI and allows its its editing. Files Open Installation protocol... Allows reading and editing of the protocol file created for each program. Files Open Restore protocol In case of a fatal alteration which leads to the impossibility of reading the protocol file, the original file can be restored. Files Open Uninstallation protocol Indicates the uninstallation protocol in which you will find the directories and files that were deleted and the entries cleared in the windows system files SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI. Here you have the possibility to choose the speed of the program. Speed O - normal: The speed of the program enables you to follow its run. - fast: The program has its maximum speed. Options Uninstallation... Here you have the possibility to undo the un- installation. Undo uninstallation Uninstallation of Windows programs can be full of problems. For example you install one with all its runtime libraries (*.DLL). If you then install one more Windows program it might have access to the same runtime libra- ries. If the first program will be deleted, the second program crashes because it does not find these files. With this option you can avoid that. - possible: During the uninstallation all files of the program you want to delete will with the help of the packer LHA 2.55b compressed and stored in 1-2 files. There- fore CleanIt is to be started, PROGRAMS/INSTALLATION... (or F3) to be chosen and the control of installation to be STARTed. After that you have to exit CleanIt (if you use Windows this is not necessary) and to in- stall the wanted program. At last CleanIt has to be started again, PROGRAMS/INSTALLATION... (or F3) to be chosen and the control of in- stallation to be FINISHed. ] Each program registered by CleanIt can be de- leted by PROGRAMS/UNINSTALLATION... (or F4). If in OPTIONS/UNINSTALLATION.../UNDO UNINSTAL- LATION the option POSSIBLE is activated, you can restore either ONLY the Windows system files SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI by PROGRAMS/RE- STORE INI FILES or ALSO the last uninstalled program by PROGRAMS/RESTORE PROGRAM. w If during the last uninstallation a backup was made, it is possible to delete it by PROGRAMS/ DELETE PROGRAM FINALLY. With OPTIONS/SPEED... you have the possibi- lity to choose the speed of the program and with OPTIONS/UNINSTALLATION... to undo the un- installation. ( STATUS INDICATION AND EDITING In STATUS/STATUS... (or F2) the following in- formations are indicated for each program in- stalled: - New directories - New files outside of these directories - Alterations in - CONFIG.SYS - AUTOEXEC.BAT - SYSTEM.INI - WIN.INI With PROGRAMS/CHANGE ORDER... you are able to change the order of program names in the sta- tus list afterwards.
