> Lizard of The Black Lotus on the keys:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello there!
»»»»»»»»»»»»
My name is Magnar Harestad and I'm responsible for the music in this
directory. I've been composing music for about 7 years, and have been
a scene-member in many different wellknown groups. (Andromeda, Lemon.
and Spaceballs to mention a couple!) However, at the moment I'm a member
of the famous crew called : The Black Lotus.
In half of my lifetime I've been using computers to make music to a lot of
different productions on several platforms. Like PC, Amiga, C-64 and even
the old Vic-20. Productions I've been involved in are typical Demos/Intros,
Disk-Mags, Music-Disks and several low-budget Games. For the moment,
I'm working on music for 1 game, 2 different music-disks/Wild-Demo-competi-
tion entries and an intro. These tunes will ofcourse be spread under my more
known handle, Lizard. Beside making music on this computer, I do a lot of
different stuff. I'm coding lots of BBS-utilities and Commodities for the
Amiga-OS, and beside that and making music, I'm drawing a lot in Deluxe
Paint. This is more for fun, and I'm not that good in drawing.
I'm also doing a lot of raytracing-stuff and fractal calculating on the
computer.
Beside my computer activity, I works in one of the biggest computer-company
here in Norway as a network/support-technician. I also play in different
"real-music" bands. My part in those bands is ofcourse to play different
keyboards! E.g. Korg DSS-1, Roland U20, Kawai K4, Yamaha DX7, Yamaha TG-77,
Casio MT-240 and a lot of others! And while we're talking about equipment,
my computer is at the moment only an old Amiga 1200 with 2 Harddrives,
external floppydrive, 1942 monitor, HP-DJ660C, Overdrive external IDE
HD-controller, USRobotics Courier 33.6kb modem and even a mouse. :) ...
I also have an Alcotini (black box) sampler and I own an old bugged
MIDI-interface.
Well enough bragging. I think of my computer equipment as old-fashion,
and one of my harddisks makes even more noise that a plain-engine!
(I use HDsleep on it! :)
So... I'm about to exchange the computer with a Amiga 4000/060 50MHz soon.
But let's not talk all day about technical stuff... I'll move on,
and here is the hidden facts and truths about the following songs
by Lizard/The Black Lotus!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
About : "Alone in with you"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Was supposed to be on the music-disk "Mirror". But there wasn't enough space
to include it. So... It has just been collecting dust after that! Made back
in 1992. There are several good things in this tune I think, however
the pan-flute is a bit out of tune I think somewhere.I guess my old speakers
was a bit to old to give a correct sounds-picture to let the human-ear judge
if there was anything wrong with the sounds. Also the piano-part in the end
is a bit far out.
About : "Amazona-lady"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
I got hold of all these Sound-Effect-CD's from the base-player in our band,
and I tried to make a tune using a lot of SFX's mixed with the ordinary
instruments! The result could have been A LOT better, but... I think the
tune has a great shakuhachi-flute sliding together with the 'excellent'
"Dance"-speech! :-)
About : "Ancient days"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This tune was made for a intro by a unknow group here in Norway, which
became PMC. The tune was somehow released in a intro back in 1991, but
I think only 10 people ever saw it! (Bad spreading!). The tune consists
of 2 parts. Personally I like the second one best, because of the timbal-
playing! :-)
About : "Andromeda-intro#1"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This tune is rather sad one. Position 9-11 is probably the only worth
mentioning. The rest of the tune sounds like most all Amiga-tunes from
1992-93 would sound like. Typical diskmag style, with nothing special
meaning or message to the audience.
About : "Andromeda-intro#2"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Hmm... This on was made in a HURRY! I got a call from Blazer the same day
I had to compose it! Luckily I managed to get it finished in time! The point
with this tune was to try to change the base, drums, and chords for each new
pattern. This makes the tune one of the better one made by me back in 1993.
The samples could have been a bit better, but... Listen to the BIG ending
for some quick and dirty donkey-funk-base playing!
(BTW. Beware of Orc-hits! :)
About : "Back dashing"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This tune is a small tune made for a Anarchy intro by Blazer. It was
composed in the year of 1993, and is built up on the idea of a guitar tune.
Also inspired by Eric Clapton somewhere out there! (This tune should be
played within ProTracker on the Amiga for special visual effects at the end
of the tune! - No guarantiees whatsoever what those commands will do on
PC-trackers! :)
About : "Cebit origo!!!"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
A old tune made before the summer 1992. Never been used before. It was
actually made as a experiment. I'd just bought my Yamaha TG-77, and I was
testing out a lot of different sounds. a lot of drums grooves makes it to
the perfect disco-tune - my only one!
About : "Claws'n fingers"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
O'dear! This is the LOWEST tune I've ever made! But I had A LOT OF FUN
making it! It was made to a great friend of mine, Glenn Ivar Jacobsen,
which is a drum-player in a band called '5-eggs'! (Which is quite famouse
here in Norway :-D )
However, he asked me if I could come up with a new way of using the tom-toms
on. And how he could use them in different "reallife"-songs. I made these
AWEFUL tom-playings JUST for him. Actually, the whole tune is for his ears
only! (And some other brain-dead people from my upper-secondary-school
class, people like Thor Eivind Tveit to mention one, which also loved this
tune.. WHY?!? I still can't figure it out!)
About : "Come little child!"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
He-he! I had a lot of fun making this one! I had just seen a thriller-movie
called "The Partyline". Bad film, but there was this SICK and childish tune
when the murder entered his dead mums room and started to remember his
childhood. So I got quite inspired to make this kind of wierd-half-spooky
tune. Allthough, the violin idea is quite sweet, eh?!?! :)
About : "Cosmic Makeup"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Another of my small-tunes. This have lots of vocoder-samples in it. Fast
rhythm and lots of action. I think the piano-chords are a bit out of order.
Doesn't really fit, but I guess lots of dance-tunes use pianochords, so..
I guess I got carried along with the rest. Never been used, and was made
back in the begining of 1993.
About : "Damn motherfucker"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This little 'chippy' was made for Messiahs of Banana Design. He was supposed
to release it in a pack-menu stuff. Not that serious, but I kind of liked
the bass-sound! So... I just had to make a tune under 30kbytes with it!
HARD! Guess it never got used, tho... Made back in the begining of 1994.
About : "Dumb-Def-Jam"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
I started on this tune back in 1994. However, it's still incompleted, but
I guess the tune will never be finished, so I decided to included anyway.
The song is buildt upon a very rought-dance-groove, and also use the typical
moog-base sound. Lots of drum-sequences and some new ways of breaking the
tune into several parts. Hope you like it, even though it's just a few
seconds long.
About : "Eat my shit"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This tune was made to a Happy-Birthday intro I coded to my friend,
Thor Eivind Tveit, which was one of my best classmate in my time on
Upper-secondary school. I think he was about to be 22 years old, and I made
this fractal-stuff which I was supposed to give to him on his birthday,
but... I never managed to code it finish in time, so I guess I only gave him
the tune. - Which is really nothing to listening to on its own...
But the intro was full of effects timed together with the primitive-sound of
the tune, and that made the result quite different. So... The moral is :
There is more beyond the tune rather than what could be heard. :)
About : "Facet bathing Naked?!?!?"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Made this one right after I joined Lemon. back in 1993! Hmm.. Great sitar,
eh?!?! Just try to imagine Facet/TBL in a tub with his Rubberduck...
Can't you imagine this thrusty sitar singing out his state of mind? :)
About : "For Blazer.1"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Yet a tune for a intro by Blazer. I don't know if it got released.
(A bit inspired by the album from 'Enigma'!) I think it was made back
in the end of 1993. Casting mystical magic and dark shadows of what you
might call a melody.
About : "Fruity waters"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This song was supposed to be used in a AGA-demo from Spaceballs.
With raytraced animations by Ramjet/Spaceballs. A really nice "movie"...
The song was composed without any equipment at a internal SPB-meeting here
in Norway. I rearranged parts of the tune, and added the heavy-guitar-end
parts right after the meeting. Just to make the tune a little bit longer.
A typical Amiga-way-to-compose-a-tune?!? YEZ!!! The water sounds in the
start of the tune was included to the tune due to the water in the logo-
animation at the start of the demo. (Which by the way never got finished,
leading to yet another unreleased tune.)
About : "Fusion Jazz"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This tune is a old-jazzy-song I made back in the early beging of 1992.
It contains lots of primitive samples, and not that many good technical
stunts. However, I think the base line from position 8-> is quite funky-
juicy-jazzy... So.. Don't mind the start and the end of this tune..
Listen to the middle! :)
About : "Get on the move"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Well... I think the first 2 pattern's doesn't sound too bad... However,
the base sound is a typical Maniacs of Noise sample which everyone seemed
to fall in love to back in 1992, the same year I composed this tune.
It was supposed to be used as a loadertune for a demo, but never got used.
Now, I look back on it and feel a bit ashamed about using that base-sample,
I should have done my own sampling, that's for sure! - But I guess people
got used to rip off others samples back then if they lacked good sounds
of their own.
About : "Glenn Forskjolt-Mix"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Recorded back in 1993. Again Glenn Ivar Jacobsen stands for most of the
vocals, and most of the vocal-effects+tracking is done by myself.
Again, only a microphone was used to generate all the sounds.
No synthezisers whatsoever was used during the record-session.
(It should be uneccessary to tell you that this was ONLY made for fun,
and not for any productions. :)
About : "Gospel Ekstase"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Hallelluja alle sammen! And praise the lord! - This one was made together
with my dear friend Glenn Ivar Jacobsen. All the samples that's used in this
tune is done with a MICROPHONE ONLY! Beat that! It actually became a HIT at
a local disco in Porsgrunn, Norway! (Imagine people dancing to that!
I can't!) It also got used in a "The Pornos" intro made by Blazer at TG93.
With a animation of a cook making bread or something wierd like that.
Really funny. Glenn and I stands for the sounds and the vocals used
in the tune.
About : "Guitar Funk!"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Wow! - A really funky guitar-based tune. It's defently not finished, but..
I added it to this colection afterall since I probably will never finish it.
I think it have a fair cool arrangement in the begining, but the piano-part
is a bit to ordinary. However, I think I tried to catch the moment in a
racing-kind-of-game when I started to compose on it back in 1993.
Something like Out-Run? :)
About : "Hallow Experience"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Hum.. One of my latest tune! I came over a sqr.bass-sound on my Kawai K4,
and it reminded me about the song called "Big time sensuality" on the CD
"Debute" by Bjoerk. I got inspired, and tried to make a VERY special tune.
Consist of a lot of Dance-rhythms and other cheap effects, but...
I am really pleased with the result! It's not daily routine to make
a Dance-tune, and trying to make it ordinary and special/original at the
same time. If you hate techno/dance/ambient, I hope you do like this tune!!!
I know that it's hard to accept techno/dance tunes when you disaprove with
it from the start, but... Ain't this a bit different from the rest?!!?
I sure hope so, if not... Then I've failed! :-)
About : "Happy movement"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This one I am pretty good satisfied with. My thought was to make a tune
which actually 'sounded' like a ordinary band, containing players on drums,
bass, guitar and keyboards, rehearsing all together. To make the sound more
"live", I tried to put some mistakes and faults into the tune. In my opinion
I think this sounds like a 1 year old group finally trying to make a song of
their own! And I just love it!!! ENJOY IT!!!
About : "Harmony and Glory"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
I made this tune in the begining of 1992. I remember that I took it with me
to the Horizon party early in february or so back then. Maybe I completed it
even before the x-mas, but I really can't remember. Anyway, the tune consist
of very dominating drum-rhythm together with "powerful" pianochords. I think
the tune have a decent main-melody, but the technical aspect of the tune is
rather poor. Lots of errors in way of handling speed, volume and other
tracker-effects. Despite that, I consider the tune as well-composed within
the limitations that bound me during the time I composed it... I only had
one synth, the Kawai K4, and I didn't have a real sequencer so the drum-beat
was actually played MANUALLY on the keyboard while sampling it to my dear
Amiga 500 which I own at that time.
About : "Harry"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Well, I made this tune to a friend of mine who wanted a small tune to a
PC-intro. I think it got released at TP5, or so... However, the tune is
really made in a hurry, so.. It's nothing new or special. I kind of like
the slow-floating intro of the tune, tho.. But the end part is too typical
I guess. However, a small tune made for only one purpose : A even smaller
intro.
About : "Hawaii"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Erm.. This was supposed to be a convertion of a C-64 tune by Jens Christian
Huuse. However, the tune got completely different even from the start! -
So... I consider this as a failure of a work I started on back in the
begining of 1992. Position 7 and out through the ref. isn't that bad,
I think. But the lead instrument is really just to misplaced. I've always
had a dear relationship to leads like pan-flutes, piccadelli-flutes or other
flute/blow instruments. However, I think a fat synth-lead would fit this
tune much better, even if the "mystical" sounds would have disappeared
from it then. A incompleted and loooong forgotten tune.
About : "Highscore#1.gm1"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This module was supposed to be used in a low-budget game called "Hyperion".
Hmm... The coder was too lazy to include a Highscore screen, so.. The tune
has never been used! The tune was actually composed at "The Gathering'92"
here in Norway! The bad thing was the LOUD noise from over 2000 computer
freaks playing even louder and louder on their stereo-equipment to try to
play loudest! Quite hopeless, but... I managed to compose something in the
noise! And this is the result! Inspired by Jason's drum-samples!
About : "Hip-Chip"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
A nice chippi?!? I think it is quite funky, anyway. All samples are from my
Yamaha TG-77! (Even the waves!) It got used in a intro by Jobbo/Spaceballs
which won the 64kb (40kb) intro-competition at TG95. Composed back in 1993.
About : "Humble down the road"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Hehehe... This tune is funny! - I made it right after I had watched a
kitchen-program on the norwegian channel NRK. Ingrid Espeli was just
finished with her food-explainings when this "swing"-kind-of-tune got played
in the background. So.. I got in the mood, runned upstairs and started
composing... Several hours afterward, this was the result! - Really crazy
stuff... Kind of like some of the more Jazzy-parts within the tune tho.
Also the vibes-part is kind of juicy. Actually, listening to the tune you
would find out that it only consists of lots of different "in-the-moment"
inspirations written down in a hurry, so.. There is really no sence with it.
Not made for anything special, and I think that alone make it special! :)
About : "Introtune#3"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Kind of reminds you of the C64, eh?!? That was my aim, anyway. I tried to
compose precisely the same way I used to compose on the C64, and it became
like this! Not a great tune, and looking back on it now seems terrible, but
I guess the melody of the tune speaks for itself. The rest is only there as
a fillin. Made in the begining of the year 1992.
About : "It's so Cool"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
I guess this tune also bears another name, like "Agony Scream" as I was
forced to rename it to on the musicdisk "Mirror". The tune have several
parts within, and is one of my more successful tunes I think. Besides the
flute-soloes in the funk-part, I consider this tune as one of my best
arrangements. Also the drum-rhythms is carefully thought through before
compiled together. Was made back in 1993 I think it was.
About : "Jeek Elemental"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This tune was made to a intro from Megastyle!, AmiExpress utility
Developments. The tune is only 20kb packed with ThePlayer6.1a,
and that's why the sounds are a bit "shorten" down. In my own opinion
the tune is quite well-composed consider the limitations.
The tune was made during the mid-winter 1995.
About : "Lemon'e Trippies"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This tune was used in R.A.W. issue #6. I kind of like the organ playing in
the start of the tune, but I guess it could have been improved several
places. The tune was made in 1993, and also bears the name "To R.a.w.#3.2",
which I almost always mix it up with another tune (Playing Rought).
Background music, but I tried to variate it a bit to avoid repeating the
tune too fast and bore the audience. Anyway, I'm satisfied with most of
the tune consider the small file-size. (It was made under the condition
that it HAD to be under 120KB powerpacked!)
About : "Loading-tune"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Yet another tune below 100kb. I made this loader-tune for a game by Anders
Dybdal which currently works for the norwegian software house, Funcom Prods.
This was back in 1992 for sure. It was a vector-type of game simular to the
old game called "Virus" and got released by Black Legend Software.
Still haven't got the payment from my work on that game, tho.
Just for legal matters, I can ensure that this tune was not used in
the game due to "time-pressure" (more like Anders lazyness) avoided
it to get included.
About : "Magic Slayer"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Made back in 1992/93. Typical amiga-stylish pop/disco type of composing
a tune. However I think some of the base-lines and ideas in the tunes are
quite original compared to others tunes made back in the same time-zone.
Mixing hihat+piano-lead was quite original I think? :) Also the way of
sliding on the chords, and use of rim in the rhythms. Well...
I don't know, it sure couldn't keep up compared with todays songs anyway. :)
About : "Mytesaltimus 2"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
I remember that I made 2 different version of this tune. The first one is
probably lost forever if not a collector has hidden it away in a dark corner
of his/her collection. I kind of enjoy the begining of this tune... Mystical
conga-drums and spooky effects... However, the drum-samples ruines some of
the feeling tho... The vocals are really terrible, but was a nice try to
sprite the tune up a bit. :) Lots of classic leads and way of composing,
resulting in a terrible song from the past. If you enjoy good oldies, then
put this one on max volume on your speakers!
About : "Not always what you think"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This is one of my merry-tunes. Finished in January 1994! Quite fast'n'funky,
and with some strange drum-breaks. However, the tune was actually started on
several months before the end-date, but I wasn't able to give it a decent
ending. So... After "The Party III" held in Denmark, 1993, I was so FED up
by lousy music-competitions, that I somehow manage 2 compose a lot of music!
(10 tunes in a week!) This is only one of the tunes I made finished - Enjoy
the result! (Btw. The tune was started on right after I had bought
my Roland-U20, and that's why it mainly only consist of sounds
from that particular synth.)
About : "Paradize of Norway!"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This one was made for the music-competition at TG92. I think I got past the
jury aswell, but... I can't remember which place it got in the end.
(Probably something like a 5th. place or so). The tune is combined of lots
of parts, and also some beautiful spots in the begining of the tune. I think
I made it right before Monkey Island 1 was released, so... I got really
spooked when I compared the tunes right afterwards. The begining of it
reminded me a bit of the title tune used in that game. However, that was not
out when I composed it. (I think someone just listened to the same Jamaica
records as I did at that time! :)
About : "Perfect setup"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This was my contribution to "The Gathering'93!" party. - The best party
ever!!! The tune got a 4th. place in the music-competition. Sadly enough...
Because if the compo had been the jurys voting, I would had got the 1st.
price! However, Vinnie deserved to win the compo anyway! The tune is quite
funky, and that's my favourite musicstyle! I'm VERY happy with the begining
of the tune, and even some other spots in it is fair okey. Inspired by a
Korg M1 bass which I sampled at "The X-mas-party II" in Denmark'92. Some of
the samples are a bit ruined tho... I over-peaked somewhere, which I found
quite cool then, but with a new expencive stereo-equipment it sounds aweful
with peaked samples!
About : "Playing rough2!"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Hmm... Another funky-dash-tune! This is one of my best tune according to
different people. I'm not quite happy, though, but who cares?!?! The tune
is made after the summer'93. Consist of mostly only TG-77 samples! It was
supposed to be entered at the music-competition at TP3. However, somebody
screwed up pretty got and the jury never got the disk containing the tune.
Anyway, the music-competition at The-Party ALWAYS suxx bigtime... I've NEVER
agreed to the jury when listening to all the music-enteriees at the party's.
(I've been on all except 1 and 5) .. But, I guess different taste in music
always makes people argue about what's the perfect song, and what isn't! :)
About : "Popcorn - Chip"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Something I started on, but never finished off. A friend of mine, ICS,
always wanted me to make a Popcorn remix version, but... I never got hold
of myself to fullfil his wish. This is only a couple of pattern's repeating
itself. However, a pretty nice snare-drum, don't you think? :)
About : "Powerplay!"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This tune was first made with MIDI, and then converted to Amiga. However,
the MIDI version was quite different! The tune just turned out to be
something quite different, mostly because I couldn't make it the same
without sampling long sequences from the synths. And then the tune would be
REALLY long in memory! (4 channels can be a BIG problem when you need to
include more voices to fullfil the sound!) There is a lot of composing-
"mistakes" to put a finger on in it, but enjoy it as it is! - The tune was
made back in 1993. And was supposed to be used in Mirrors
if I don't remember wrong.
About : "Pray, Evil one!"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This tune was made back in 1991! Really funny stuff! :) hehe.. It got lots
of organ and harpis samples just to get you into the right mood.
Cool Church-jam? :)
About : "Quiet Evening"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
THIS is what I've waited to write about... This tune was my contribution
at TG94, and didn't do to well in the competition do to several reasons.
(The poor and aweful sounds-equipment used at the party to mention just
one reason!) ... Anyway, I consider this tune to be one of my far-best
tunes in my own opinion. The begining is really something different
compared to other tunes I've made, and also the sample-quality is quite good
I think, even though I'm not too satisfied. Lots of work was putted into
composing this tune. Picking/making the sounds fit, drum-sequences, lots of
realtime playing on the keyboard before tracking it.. And... A nice guitar-
sequence at then end. I had to fix some of the volume-values on the tune
after it got played on TG94, since my stereo-equipment at home didn't match
the sound-rig used at the party at all! - The whole tune sounded terrible,
and I got a bit angry at first by it. However, music-competitions at parties
aften results in bad conditions for the composers. Are you lucky, it's just
might your tune that sounds good compared to the rest, and that's the one
people will vote for. I hoped for atleast a 5th. place with this tune,
but it ended up on a 11th. place if I'm not to mistaken.
About : "Quiet Morning"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
A sequal to "Quiet Evening". Also in this tune I putted far more work into
the sounds-aspect of the tune compared to my older ones. Not to happy about
the result, but it has some positive moments I think. This tune was only
made for fun, and that's probably why there is lots of strange samples,
strange bridges and lots of not so serious stuff in it. (Like my poor
guitar playing! :) ... I do like the synth-lead used at the end of the tune,
though. I played this manually on the keyboards before I tracked it, but...
The feeling never gets the same with 4 channels! ...
About : "Rain..."
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This tune was my contribution to "The Party II" music competition. Between
over 200 modules, I got selected to the finale together with about 20 other
tunes. a lot of mistakes in playing the modules ruined the begining of the
tune, even the introduction was wrong! (They mixed up my tune with another
composer's song!) The tune contains different parts, and different music-
styles. All from ballade to more fast-funk stuff. Inspired by my recently
bought drum-machine, a Roland DR660. (Even the slap-bass is taken from it!)
About : "Read my mind..."
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This tune was supposed to be my contribution to "The X-mas'94 Party IV",
but I am glad I didn't deliver it! The music-competition was REALLY bad!
When a chiptune gets picked out instead of tunes made by Jogeir, Lizardking,
Vinnie e.g. then there has to be something SERIOUS wrong with the jury!
A total disaster! In my own opinion this is one of my best tune! Because
I tried to combinate two different musicstyles, and still have original
lead-melodies. I don't know if anyone agrees, but I'm quite happy with
the result! Made in December 1994.

Another old tune! Made in January 1992! (Quite old, eh??!) Inspired by "The
party I" demo by Razor 1911, called "Voyage!". More like a Jarre tune with
all kinds of cheap effects to make a total surround! A quite spaced tune!
This tune was actually supposed to be used in the first issue of R.A.W.

Never been used, and was made to a friend of mine in Bergen back in 1992.
It's a small "chiptune" which consist of very small samples and a very bad
lead-melody. Only the first patterns with the background-groove have
a meaning, but the rest (or even the whole tune for that matter) is really
terrible! :) Composed in 1992 right before my summertrip to Bergen where
I visited Moxy and Fairfax the time I was in Andromeda.
(Really cool trip, tho! :)

Mmm... This one was made for a diskmag I guess. Think it got used aswell.
Not my best diskmag tune, but it has it moments. I think the first pattern
is quite okey, but I kind of screws up when the up-beat starts with the
conga-stuff. However, using the tom-sample as a snare really losen things
up in the end of the tune. Made in the begining of 1994.

This nice little chiptune was mainly composed by Jason/ex.Lemon. ... When I
listened to it for the first time I got really impressed by the melody and
the chords of the tune. Also the "sounds" wasn't that sharp'n'noisy/aweful
as it usually is when people makes chip/wave-tunes. So, I fixed some of his
chord arranges and gave it back to him. Not that much, but..
however, a co-op. :)

O'Dear! This is a old one! It was actually released on the music-disk I made
together with Mr.Man and Interphace (or Lord Interface as Jan Reinert used
to call himself back then). Frankly, it was only included on the musicdisk,
which was btw. called "Mirror", to achive some variation on it... The tune
is actually one of my oldest tune, dated back to the summer of 1991.

I think this tune also was made in the end of 1991, or at the begining
of 1992. The tune consist of a very strong arrangement with quite special
samples. Also the main-melody in the tune is probably one of my best at that
time. Several people have ripped samples from this tune afterward, and even
Wotw made a simular remix of it back in 1993 I think it was. So...
I consider this one as one of my "break-through" tunes
in the demo/music-scene.
About : "To Chit-Chat #11"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This tune was made for the Chit-Chat #11. It got released in the late months
of 1993 if I'm not to mistaken. However, the tune itself was actually made
for "R.A.W - #5", but I decided to give it to Chit-Chat, and composed a new
tune for "R.A.W - #6" instead! The tune is VERY amiga-childish, and I HATE
composing this kind of music. But sadly enough, most people are more
interested in listening to such tunes, instead of a real JAZZ tune!
(He-he!) I like jazz, and I've even composed that too, but it's very
difficult to get it sound "real".
About : "To Raw Intro #1"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
Yepp, yet a ghost from the past hitting me in the face. :) .. This one was
used in a intro coded by Lord Zero (or something like that) in my time
in Offence. The tune consist of 2 parts. One intro, and the other
main-theme. The intro was designed after some text building the mood up
to a picture hiting the screen introducing the magazine. That's explaines
the big blast, I guess. :) ... Then some circles goes nuts on the screen
and a background-relaxing tune is played. (Hopefully, relaxing atleast. :)
.. Nothing special with it, ordinary diskmag stylish tune with no new
features whatsoever... Just to calm the crowed down! :)
PS. Use Vertical blank (VBL) speed on this tune, otherwise the speed will
screw up after the intro-blast! - Just a friendly advice.
<Gry>: No need to use VBL anymore, I have CIA-fixed the tune! =)

Nothing much to say about this tune... Yet one of my failures when it comes
to making "Chiptunes". The only good thing in it, I guess, is the 'lips'-
sound which I sampled from my Yamaha TG-77. But it's to noisy to listening
to. It was made to a friend of mine, Funky/?, which was supposed to use it
in a pack-menu. I never think he got it! :) ... Made back in 1992.
About : "Tune to Offence"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This is one was also made for the Offence announce-intro. It got a typical
Tip+Mantronix style over it, and I guess that's why it wasn't used. :)
The tune itself sounds terrible, but consider the low file-size I guess
it's not that bad compared to others... But then again, who would listen
to it more than 30 seconds? - That's about the maximal time you use
in a packdisk menu! :)
About : "Tune to Offence2.5"
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
This is one of the best "chip-tunes" I've ever made, in my own opinion
ofcourse! It got used in the announce-intro from Offence in the begining
of 1992! The intro was coded by Perplex, which by the way also is the
person behind the R.A.W-code. The intro, I think, was released back in the
spring of 1991... Or was it 1992? However, I think a french division of
Silents ripped the tune and reused it in one of their intros aswell...
Without even asking for permission, tho. :)

WOW! TECHNO! I can do it all?!?!? ... I know that you reading this probably
hate techno, and so DO I! But why did I ever make this ear-breaking
(=noise) then??! Well... Almost all of my friend are dance and techno
freaks, so.. The pressure was too heavy, and they forced me to this one!
I'm kind of happy with the result, keeping in mind that this was my first
and last attempt! (Also software-houses demands different music-styles... :)
- But it's far of from my recent MIDI-results in the same category.
Making good techno/ambient tunes without several channels, without reverb
and other effects available is REALLY tought!

CHIPPY! = BAD! This is probably the worst tune ever in this collection! ...
However, I know people who loves chiptunes, and even like this one. -
I sincerly just can't understand them. In my opinion most Chiptunes
nowadays are just too loud-lead-peaking-noisy-saw/sine-sounds-mixed-
together! - Resulting in a aweful mixture of agony and fear for the
audience.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you listen to any of my songs, if you should ever do such a wicked
thing, then I think you would soon notice that each tune, each work,
is it's own experiment. With that I mean that you really can't compare
any of the 60 different songs I've included on this CDROM and come up with
a match. - Or atleast, that was my goal over the years of composing. -
Always seeking new horizons, mystical places and stop repeating myself
to much like other composers tend to do. (No need to mention any names,
I guess? :) .. I think that is what makes my music different from others,
and maybe also could be easily said to be my advantage. - Always being
able to make a tune, regardless musical-style and limitations.
Okey! That's all! I hope you'll enjoy listening to the tunes. These tunes
are a result of hard work, expencive musicequipment, noisy samplers,
paying professional music-players for guitar samples, CD-sample libraries
& always having NO MONEY!
So if you should feel pity on my lousy body, and wants to donate some money
to my pore soul so I can buy some decent food, (I live for music, and I live
on music! and that is not the same as real food!) then send cheques
