DirKing
~~~~~~~
- DirKing prints a directory listing with more information and
style, then the usual directory list commands.
- The DirKing program exists in four different languages, which
are English, German, French and Dutch.
- DirKing is reentrant, so it can be made resident.
- DirKing requires AmigaDOS v1.3 or higher.
- Has all the features of the AmigaDOS 'List' command, and most
of the 'Dir' command features. Even gives 'Info' like
information.
- DirKing's listings can be used to compile a reference to your
disk collection. So you always know immediately what your
disks contain.
Documentation
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All DirKing's function are clearly explained in a 28-page user
manual, with numerous examples.
Directory scanning
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Scanning of a specified directory (or file) or the current
directory.
- Recursive paths supported with current directory reading.
- Supports paths with patterns.
- Features 'deep level pattern matching', which allows you to
specify a pattern for each directory level.
- Make the path patterns effective on both files and
directories, files only or directories only.
- Read an entire directory, or specify how far DirKing can
descend the directory tree.
- Global directory filters are supported.
- More than 300 filters can be used to filter directory input.
- Most filters are based on the file and directory names.
Filters include read filters, pass filters, substring filters
and character range filters.
- There are also conditional date filters, allowing you to
specify a datestamp or a timestamp (or both) to filter on
dates/time.
- All filters can be made effective on both files and
directories, files only or directories only.
- Pattern matching wildcards supported are : #,?,',| and *.
Directory information
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- The following fields of a directory entry are supported :
name, diskkey, blocks used, bytes used, attributes (protection
flags), date, time and comments.
- Specify which fields to be printed and in what order.
- Define what information you want in the listing header and at
the end of the listing.
- DirKing gives more extensive information on a volume (disk)
than the AmigaDOS 'Info' command. This information can be
printed in the listing header.
- DirKing always gets the correct notation of the scanned path.
- Prints a title above the listing, to indicate what the columns
in the listing table represent.
- Define a maximum width of the listing table. Expand the
listing to the maximum width.
- Supports date replacements by 'Sunday...Saturday', 'Today',
'Yesterday', 'Tomorrow' and 'Future'.
- Print values in decimal or hexadecimal notation.
- The attributes can be printed as a binary value.
Listing formatting
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Sort listing ascending or descending; or don't sort it.
- Complex sorting is supported on all fields (from the name to
the comment). Define on which fields to sort, and in the order
you want.
- Print files first, directories first or mix files and
directories.
- Print the fields in any order you want, and in what character
style you want.
- Supports the use of AmigaDOS print control sequences.
- Generate scripts with the LFORMAT option.
- Define your own date- and time formats.
- DirKing includes predefined listing formats, date- and
timeformats which can be accessed by a simple code.
- Supports paging of the listing. Define how many lines to print
on a single page.
- Send the listing to the Shell window, the printer or any file.
Special features
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Monitor the scanning process.
- Print any message or a DiskID-string (used with disk
cataloging tools) in your listing header.
- Supports scanning of multiple directories in a row.
- Show the structure of the directory tree.
