WELCOME
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Hi there! This document is intended to provide you help on TRIZZ, the ulti-
mate Tetris clone. It contains tips, tricks, troubleshooting and a lot more.
If I was you, I would read it!
SHAREWARE

Please note that TRIZZ is Shareware. You can test it for about two weeks, and
copy it to your friends (you are encouraged to do so!). If you like TRIZZ and
want to continue using it, you have to register. You will receive a special
registered version, without disturbing shareware screens and a lot more fancy
background pictures and tilesets.
The registration fee for TRIZZ (+shipping and handling) is:
- In Germany:
15 +5 DM
- In the rest of the World:
15 +10 DM
-OR-
10 +10 US$
I accept emittances, cash and (euro-)cheques.
For the professionals:
If you want to include the full version of TRIZZ in a commercial package (CD-
ROMs etc), contact me for special conditions.

HOW TO PLAY
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Playing TRIZZ is quite easy. Select "START" in the mainmenu, and then press:
- Cursor left/right to move the current tile left/right
- Cursor down to move it down one step
- A/S to turn the tile left/right (Cursor up also turns it left)
- Space to let it fall down
- P to pause the game
When you have filled an entire row of the playfield, it disappears, and the
rows above fall down one step. It's your goal to do this as many times as you
can, because otherwise, the playfield will be filled up to the top. And when
there's no more space for the new tile, it's GAME OVER!
You get points for every filled line. The more lines you fill at one time,
the more points you get. You also get more points in higher levels.
You have some little helpers in your quest: The Next-Display, which shows
you the next tile you will get, and the Stats-Display. In this a little dia-
gram indicates, how often which tiles have occured. The lower the bar, the
more likely this tile will come again soon.
OPTIONZZ
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
If you choose "Optionzz" in the mainmenu, you can make various selections:
- Level: If you choose a higher level here, the tiles will fall faster right
from the start of the game. Normally, you get one level higher every time
you have filled ten lines. By preselecting a higher level, you will in-
crease the difficulty of the game, but also get a lot more points (see
"Tips and Tricks").
- Lines: If you increase this value, the lowest lines will be randomly filled
at the beginning of the game. This increases the difficulty, and therefor
you get 6000 points for every line right at the start.
- Tileset: Here you can choose the looking of the tiles. There are five fancy
tilesets available, and with the registered version, you get even more!
- Background: Same as the tilesets, but this affects... well, guess what.
- Sound: By now, there are only a few cryptic sound effects available, and
this just for Adlib or compatibles. But I`m working on this, so if you re-
gister, you will probably get a new and improved version.
The Optionzz are saved and will therefor be available the next time you play
TRIZZ.
TIPS AND TRICKS
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- You get more points, if you blank more lines at one time: If you blank four
lines together in level 1, you earn 1600 points. If you get four times one
line, it's only 1200 points!
- The "Lines"-Option can give you some easy points: For every line you get
6000 points. It should be no problem for you to deal with about 5 lines.
More increase the difficulty quite a bit...
- You should only start a game in level 0, if you are an absolute beginner.
You`ll get incredibly few points!
- If you got TRIZZ from a friend who stuffed the Hi-Scorezz with his name,
and if you want to reset them: Just delete the file "TRIZZ_11.DAT". If you
run TRIZZ now, it will create a new Hi-Score with 0 points on each rank.
Now you SHOULD be able to get a Hi-Score...
By the way: Do NOT delete any other "TRIZZ*.*"-File! They're all required
to run TRIZZ.
REQUIREMENTS & TROUBLESHOOTING
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- You need at least a 386SX and a VGA card to run TRIZZ.
- You should definitely install Trizz on harddisk, because diskettes are
awfully slow.
- TRIZZ tries to autodetect your soundcard. If it hangs while doing this,
start TRIZZ with the -nosound option. This bypasses the autodetection.
- If TRIZZ doesn't save your Hi-Scorezz, check if the file "TRIZZ_11.DAT" is
write-protected. "ATTRIB -R TRIZZ_11.DAT" should solve the problem.
