  7.    First, Welcome to the only all 64bit public access super computing center!

  9.        To connect SDF via TELNET/SSH use the 'tty.sdf.org' address

  11.    Here are some tips for getting around in your new UNIX shell environment.
  12.    It is IMPORTANT that you read this email in order to make full use of the
  13.    computing facilities here.  You may want to save this in your directory
  14.    on the SDF-1 for future reference.  Also, if you'd like a FREESHELL bumper
  15.    sticker, checkout http://sdf.lonestar.org (click on the 'tour' link)

  24. "maint"   This is the maintenance shell which allows you to manage your
  25.           password, set up automatic password recovery, reset your mysql
  26.           database password, reset your webmail preferences, change your
  27.           shell, change your user information .. just about everything!

  29. "arpa"    Prints information about becoming a permanent 'ARPA' member
  30.           of SDF allowing you to use irc, lynx, increased space and more!
  31.  
  32. "help"    Runs a program that will allow you to access files containing 
  33.           descriptive listings for standard and non-standard UNIX commands.
  34.  
  35. "com"     Chat with other SDF users in 'COM MODE'.
  36.  
  37. "bboard"  SDF-1 hosts an Electronic Bulletin Board which allows its users to
  38.           communicate with each other.  Here you will find news regarding the
  39.           system and whatever the users choose to talk about. 
  40.          
  41. "faq"     Frequently Asked Questions.  This program will allow you to access
  42.           files containing more detailed help.  If you don't find an answer
  43.           there, you may submit your own questions if you feel that it should
  44.           be addressed in the FAQ.  You will be answered by an SDF-1 System  
  45.           Administrator.

  47. "freeirc" IRC access is available to all users on Weekends.
  48.  
  49. "online"  Online can tell you the amount of time a user (or yourself) has
  50.           spent online for the day.  (Logs are stored and reset at 00:00:00).

  52. "disk"    This utility will give you a pretty summary of how much space you
  53.           are currently using.

  56.                      Files and Directories of Importance

  59. /etc/motd  This file's contents are listed every time you execute the login
  60.            program when you login to your account.  It will be empty normally.
  61.            It is used to broadcast time critical important information from
  62.            the SDF-1 System Administrators that can't wait for the bboard.
  63.  
  64. ~ftp/pub   Public files are stored here.  Text, source and binaries for all
  65.            sorts of computers, including newer microprocessor style machines.
  66.  
  67. /usr/pkg   All user contributed executable programs and scripts can be found
  68.            here.  If you want to compile a program for use of the entire 
  69.            user group, please contact a System Administrator for details.
