DNEWS.DOC
* UULIB:NewsGroups
This file contains a list of accepted newsgroups and the number of
days of backlog to keep for each. Each line is of the form:
groupname backlogdays
Normally you set the backlog to a week or two. Any groups received
not in this list are written to a special group called "Rejects".
If the "Rejects" group is not in this list either than the groups
are discarded.
A cron based news directory cleanup program (NewsClean) keeps the
number of messages in a given newsgroup directory limited to the
maximum backlog specified in the NewsGroups file for that group.
* UULIB:<user>.newsrc
DNews does not delete articles after you read them, but instead keeps
a separate newsrc file for each user indicated which articles have
been read, killed, etc... This allows multiple users at a given
Amiga site as well as an independantly implemented newsgroup
forwarding mechanism.
Each line of a .newsrc file is of the following format:
y/n newsgroup read-articles:marked-articles:unread-killed-articles
IMPORTANT: there is no limit on line length. An article list
consists of comma delimited ranges, like this:
1-13993,23,25-36
By joint agreement between DNews, RNews, and any other news
utility, Article numbers turn over after 32767. This allows
DNews to keep newsgroup information as a simple bitmap of
read, marked, killed articles.
