††Holograms are three-dimensional pictures produced by means of laser light. The basic idea of holography was suggested in 1947 by Denis Gabor of Hungary, but it could not be demonstrated until the laser became available. With the help of a laser beam, United States researchers Emmett Leith and Juris Upatneiks made the first hologram in 1965.
