CALLER.EXE
(A program for Radio Stations)
CALLER.EXE is a simple program to be used by Radio and TV stations
that need a way to let a D.J. or personality know the status of a bank
of request lines.
CALLER displays up to 8 calls in the 'Two-Line Per Caller' Mode, and
11 calls in the 'One-Line Per Caller' Mode.
The calls are displayed in numerical order. Only active lines are
shown, to maximize the information that will fit on the screen.
The 'Two-Line' Mode displays the Line Number, the Caller's Name, and
the Time on Hold on the first line, and a Comment about the call on
the Second Line.
The 'One-Line' Mode displays simply the Line Number, the Caller's
Name, and the Time on Hold.
A Data Entry Line on the bottom of the screen is used to enter the
appropriate data. A prompt at the Left Margin shows what the program
expects you to type in.
* To toggle from the 'One Line' to the 'Two Line' mode, use the
F1 and the F2 keys. Comments entered in the Two Line Mode will
be stored but not displayed if you switch to the One Line Mode.
* If you try to switch to the 'Two Line' mode when you have more calls
(8) than will be displayed, the program will produce a warning tone
and not make the switch. You will have to clear out enough of the
calls to get the total displayed down to 8, and then the F2 key
will operate and switch the mode.
* When the program starts, it will ask for the Line Number. This may
be any number from 0 to 20. At KIIS, we use Line '0' just to send a
message to the studio. Our first 'real' line is # 1.
As you enter calls, the screen, obviously, will fill up. After a
call is completed, to clear that line off the screen, type in that
line number, and enter a Blank for the Name. This will erase that
call off the screen, and make the space available for a new call.
* If you want to clear ALL the calls at once, Enter 'C' for the Line
Number.
* To Escape from the program - press <ESC>.
* The Elapsed time (or Time on Hold, as we call it) will change
color as follows:
0 - 10 minutes : Green
10 - 60 minutes : Yellow
60 - 99 minutes : Red
99+ minutes : Flashing $$ signs.
(KIIS uses 800 numbers for the request lines.... By the time we hit
the $$ signs, that one call has cost us about $ 10.00 !!)
CALLER.EXE is fairly bulletproof. We use it with a CGA card,
(the one with an RCA jack for NTSC output), and a video
modulator. The output is sent throughout the studio complex,
as we have different studios taking the calls during different
times of the day. The program will work with any type of
display, although with a monochrome monitor the elapsed time may
be a little dim as the green and red don't print too well.
Should you not desire the Elapsed Time to be displayed, start
the programm by adding the command line parameter 'NOTIME'.
The startup command, then, would be:
CALLER NOTIME
IMPORTANT NOTE:
This program is fully functional with one exception: This
Shareware Version is limited to displaying only three phone lines
at a time.
Registering the program will provide a fully functional version
with all features and lines enabled.
Registration is $ 15.00, payable to:
