  6.         ANAHEIM, California -- ZyXEL. a leading supplier vocie/fax
  7.         modems and compatible products, announced that it will
  8.         begin including cellular communication capabilities as a
  9.         standard feature in its full line of high-speed modems.

  11.         The move is designed to buck the industry trend of offering
  12.         stripped-down modems at low prices.  "ZyXEL modems have
  13.         always been noted for their wide array of standard features,"
  14.         explained Gordon Yang, vice president of engineering.  "We
  15.         are committed to providing users with feature-rich modems at
  16.         affordable prices.  The enhancements of our modems with the
  17.         once-optional feature of cellular capabilities demonstrates
  18.         this commitment."

  20.         Yang added that the addition of the feature of ZyXEL modems
  21.         -- which are still priced from $329 to $749 -- really gives
  22.         users more for their money.  "It means that users do not
  23.         have to settle for modems that, although priced very low,
  24.         do not include the capabilities necessary for today's
  25.         complex communications environments," said Yang.

  27.         Cellular capabilities are a necessary requirement in today's
  28.         corporate environment where continuous access to information
  29.         is essential.  For example, when telephone lines are not
  30.         accessible during a major disaster, ZyXEL modem users have
  31.         the ability to tranfer to cellular lines, reconnecting
  32.         an essential communication link.

  34.         Cellular capabilities provide ZyXEL modems access to
  35.         cellular lines with data transfer rates of up to CELL
  36.         14.4Kpbs on clear line conditions.  Now ZyXEL modem
  37.         users will be able to handle communication problems over
  38.         land lines and cellular networks in the DOS, Windows,
  39.         Macintosh, OS/2, NeXT, IBM/UNIX, and Amiga environments.

  42.         especially for cellular networks.
