ZyXEL BOLSTERS ITS LINE OF FEATURE-RICH MODEMS

        Once-Optional Cellular Communications Capabilities Now
                               Standard

        ANAHEIM, California -- ZyXEL. a leading supplier vocie/fax
        modems and compatible products, announced that it will
        begin including cellular communication capabilities as a
        standard feature in its full line of high-speed modems.

        The move is designed to buck the industry trend of offering
        stripped-down modems at low prices.  "ZyXEL modems have
        always been noted for their wide array of standard features,"
        explained Gordon Yang, vice president of engineering.  "We
        are committed to providing users with feature-rich modems at
        affordable prices.  The enhancements of our modems with the
        once-optional feature of cellular capabilities demonstrates
        this commitment."

        Yang added that the addition of the feature of ZyXEL modems
        -- which are still priced from $329 to $749 -- really gives
        users more for their money.  "It means that users do not
        have to settle for modems that, although priced very low,
        do not include the capabilities necessary for today's
        complex communications environments," said Yang.

        Cellular capabilities are a necessary requirement in today's
        corporate environment where continuous access to information
        is essential.  For example, when telephone lines are not
        accessible during a major disaster, ZyXEL modem users have
        the ability to tranfer to cellular lines, reconnecting
        an essential communication link.

        Cellular capabilities provide ZyXEL modems access to
        cellular lines with data transfer rates of up to CELL
        14.4Kpbs on clear line conditions.  Now ZyXEL modem
        users will be able to handle communication problems over
        land lines and cellular networks in the DOS, Windows,
        Macintosh, OS/2, NeXT, IBM/UNIX, and Amiga environments.

        ZyCellular features provide four unique protocols, designed
        especially for cellular networks.
               1. Fast Re-Synchronizations (FRS)
               2. Dynamic Cellular Speed Selection (DCSS)
               3. Automatic Transfer Power Adjustment (ATPA)
               4. Reliable Handshake Enhancements (RHE)

        In addition to cellular capabilities, ZyXEL standard and
        Intelligent features include Digitized Voice Capabilities,
        Auto Fall-Forward/Fall-Back with Fast Rate Renegotiation,
        Call-Back Security with Password Protection, Caller ID and
        Distinctive Ring, Remote configuration and firmware
        upgradability.
