  1. If you are installing GedEdit for the first time: 
  2.  
  3. 1) Make a directory on your hard drive called 'GE'        [ MkDir \GE     ] 
  4. 2) Copy all files from the distribution diskette or 
  5.    downloaded archive to the GedEdit directory.           [ cd \GE        ] 
  6.                                                           [ xcopy A: C:   ] 
  7.  
  8. If you are upgrading from GEDIT or an older version of 
  9. GedEdit:                                                  [ SAVE All Work ] 
  10.  
  11. 1) Use the older version to save all work-in-progress 
  12.    (*.WRK files) to .GED files using the 'SAVE' or 
  13.    'SAVE AS' function. 
  14.  
  15. 2. Copy all files from the distribution diskette or 
  16.    downloaded archive to the GedEdit directory. 
  17.  
  18. GedEdit requires a minimum 300K RAM to load and operates under DOS 
  19. version 3.0 or newer. 
  20.  
  21. GedEdit reportedly works in (DOS) MicroSoft Windows (tm) in a 300K 
  22. environment (not supported). 
  23.  
  24. GedEdit Version 1.01 will produce lightning-fast reports for any FAMily 
  25. in the GedCom. Output is to an IBM or EPSON compatible printer. Alternately 
  26. output can be redirected to a filename of your choice by using PRN2FILE.COM 
  27. before loading GedEdit.  Note: Printer output will remain redirected to the 
  28. file until such time as PRN2FILE is run again (with no filename). See the 
  29. file entitled 'PRN2FILE.DOC'.
