(|6:12,14|). It is not that one earns mercy or forgiveness by being merciful
or forgiving, for then it would not be mercy but reward. It is rather
that ~R~Iin the nature of mercy and forgiveness there cannot be receiving without
giving~N. ~M~IThat in one which renders him incapable of being merciful or forgiving
also renders him incapable of receiving mercy or forgiveness~N.
~c~FMercy~N is related to|grace|. One has said that ~C~Igrace takes away the fault,

mercy takes away the misery~N. This misery is the sense of ~mhuman wretchedness.~N
~W~I~FMercy~N is the ~R~Iwitholding of that judgement which we deserve because of
our sin~N. ~W~I~FGrace~N is the ~M~Igracious favor toward us inspite of our sin. Both grace
amd mercy are unmerited~N.
