DISTRIBUTION:
=============
You may make this file available for downloading from your BBS or you may
upload it to any BBS of your choice, provided that you do not make any
changes to the contents of the archive (ZIP file).
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
====================
TriSports is a program which can be used to provide the users of your BBS
the results of "last night's" sports contests. (Football Basketball Hockey
Baseball, etc. for High School, College, or Professional, etc.) TriSports
generates ANSI and MONO screens which contain the scores of up to twelve
sporting events. Use as a logon screen or bulletin to let the users of your
BBS know who won the game :) and who lost :(
FEATURES:
=========
--- Easy to set up.
--- BETA tested on a TriBBS BBS.
--- Support BBS available.
--- Generates ANSI and MONO bulletins.
INSTALLATION:
=============
1. Place three files, (TSPORTS.CFG, TSPORTS.DAT, and TSPORTS.EXE), in your
main TriBBS directory. (Example: C:\TRIBBS)
2. Using a text editor, edit the TSPORTS.CFG file to include the required
information as shown in the example below.
The File Cabinet BBS
Bob Harmon
C:\TRIBBS\DISPLAY\LOGON6.BBS
C:\TRIBBS\DISPLAY\LOGON6.ANS
Weekend of 09-03-93 High School Football Scores!
Line #1 is the name of your BBS.
Line #2 is the Sysop's name.
Line #3 is the complete path to your MONO screen.
Line #4 is the complete path to your ANSI screen.
Line #5 is the "title" of your TriSports Summary page.
Notes about the TSPORTS.CFG file:
- Line number 5 of the TSPORTS.CFG file should be NO longer
than 56 characters and/or spaces in length, and should
NOT contain any commas ",".
- The path to your MONO and ANSI bulletins MUST include
the filename of both your MONO and ANSI bulletins.
3. Using a text editor, edit the TSPORTS.DAT file to include the required
information as shown in the example below. Be sure to READ the notes
after the TSPORTS.DAT example.
White Hall <--- Name of winning team of game #1.
24 <--- Score of winning team of game #1.
Warren <--- Name of losing team of game #1.
10 <--- Score of losing team of game #1.
Watson Chapel <--- Name of winning team of game #2.
14 <--- Score of winning team of game #2.
Hamburg <--- Name of losing team of game #2.
7 <--- Score of losing team of game #2.
and so on, and so on...... up to twelve games.
Notes about the TSPORTS.DAT file:
- The name of the teams should be NO longer than 16 characters
and or spaces.
- The scores of a team should be NO longer than 3 digits. :)
- Instead of having the winning team on top, as indicated in
the TSPORTS.DAT example above, you could have the visiting
team on top, and the home team on bottom. It really doesn't
matter, as long as you have the correct score on the line
immediately below each team. Not too complicated. <G>
4. TriSports is executed with the following command.....
TSPORTS
TriSports can be executed from the TriBBS BETWEEN.BAT file, which
will result in TriSports generating updated bulletins between each
call. Of course, you will have to update the TSPORTS.DAT file
before the bulletins are "actually" updated. Therefore, using a
text editor, edit the BETWEEN.BAT file located in your main TriBBS
directory, and add the required information as shown in the example
below.
TSPORTS
Note: For additional information on the use of the BETWEEN.BAT
file, please refer to your TriBBS manual.
TriSports can also be executed by using the "event" feature of TriBBS.
This would be handy if you did not want the bulletins generated by
TriSports to be updated between each call to your BBS.
Note: For additional information on the use of the "event" features
please refer to your TriBBS manual.
MAINTENANCE:
============
After the initial setup, no known maintenance is required, except you
will, of course, have to update the TSPORTS.DAT file to change the teams
each week, etc. and the TSPORTS.CFG file to change line #5 as needed.
