Q&A.DOC - Questions & Answers ∙
Questions & Answers - This documentation is provided as a "Quick
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Reference" for any questions the sysop
might have. All the information listed
here can be found in SYSOP.DOC as well,
and in more detail.
---
Q. Some users complain that they have been deleted from the game.
A. Users are deleted from the game if they have not played within
10 days. This is to free up space in the league for other, more
active, players.
---
Q. The registration number provided doesn't work!
A. All registration information is stored in the file SYSTEM.DAT.
If this file is deleted, your registration codes are lost. To
recreate SYSTEM.DAT, run SETUP.EXE and select "Register S&I".
Type in your codes, and S&I should work thereafter.
---
Q. While a user is on in the main menu, the menu redraws itself
entirely, after the user moves the hi-light bar down or up one.
A. You are running on a Novell or similar network, in which the
screen display of the server does not correspond to that of the
terminal. This is, unfortunately, unavoidable. Most regular
single-terminal systems require that the program reads information
from the screen in order to find out what to, and what not to
re-draw. This problem does not occur on single-terminal set ups.
---
Q. Users can only play one game per day.
A. The unregistered version only allows one game to be played a day.
The registered version lets the sysop set the amount of turns /
day given to users to a maximum of 20 games / day.
---
Q. The "Drop to DOS" function in the game does not work.
A. There is not enough memory available to Steel & Ice. As it is a
relatively small game, no options were provided for a disk or EMS
swap during shells.
