  19.         The NOTES EDIT utilities were written in frustration with the PAF
  20.         notes editor which lacks many features of a standard text editor. 
  21.         Most damaging was the lack of a block move/copy command, the
  22.         inability to insert a new line in the middle of a line of notes,
  23.         the difficulty of importing external text files into the middle of
  24.         a set of notes, and numerous other limitations.  The author used
  25.         a number of satisfactory editors in his daily work including WP
  26.         (Word Perfect) and the Microsoft editor.  He wished to be able use
  27.         these to edit PAF notes.

  29.         There are several useful notes manipulation utilities available as
  30.         shareware on Compuserve.  These include PAFNOT and FRASC written
  31.         by Steve Cannon, and IMPORT by Jack Chandler.  However, these do
  32.         not support the full cycle of external PAF notes editing:
  33.         retrieval, editing, and storage back in NOTES2.DAT.

  35.         The normal sequence of for using the NOTES EDIT Utilities entails
  36.         the following three steps:
  37.         1- First run the GETNOTES program to create a text file containing
  38.            the notes for a specific individual.
  39.         2- Next the text file can then be opened end edited using any text
  40.            editor that can write an ASCII file.
  41.         3- The final step is to write the text file containing the
  42.            modified notes back to NOTES2.DAT using the PUTNOTES program. 
  43.            PUTNOTES will handle all processing related to deleting the
  44.            original notes, reallocating previously deleted records, and
  45.            finally writing the new notes text to NOTES2.DAT.
