  19.         Completely menu driven, IGI255 will simply scan IGI text files and
  20.         create a separate database with the information it finds.  The
  21.         database is then sorted, viewed, printed or copied as desired.  No
  22.         printer is required.  File contents may be sorted and viewed on
  23.         screen.  The database files may also be copied and combined to
  24.         another file in .DBF or ASCII text form. Four pre-defined sorts
  25.         are available or create up to 9 additional at one time.  An
  26.         excellent filtering option is also available.

  28.         The Family Search Program's IGI routine features a "Family" search
  29.         as well as a "Marriage" search, including the ability to "filter"
  30.         both.  Each search may also be set for a "Similar" or an "Exact"
  31.         surname search.  IGI255 will process IGI text files created in any
  32.         FSP search and/or filter combination.

  34.         Naturally a text file consisting of information from both types of
  35.         searches would gather all available possibilities for a given
  36.         surname.  Unfortunately this creates an extremely large amount of
  37.         duplicate entries in the text file.  IGI255 cures this "problem"
  38.         rather easily by simply removing the duplicates, automatically.

  40.         PLEASE NOTE: When downloading IGI information to be processed with
  41.         IGI255, remember: GEDCOM's produced by the FSP are NOT handled by
  42.         IGI255. You MUST use it's ASCII text file feature.  There is a
  43.         shareware program available by the name of GIPSI which will
  44.         process GEDCOM type files for you.  Also NOTE: The .DBF files
  45.         created by GIPSI are NOT compatible with IGI255.
