  7.                            About The Intelec Network

  9.       Quality  has  been our biggest claim to fame and is our most important
  10.       growth factor.  Intelec is built upon  other high standards  as  well,
  11.       like   diversity  and integrity!  Our main focus is on quality  as any
  12.       network can generate useless bulk mail! What does  Intelec  represent?
  13.       Important  issues,  tech support and dedication  to the BBS user.  Our
  14.       Admin conference is fully public so any  User or SysOp is  welcome  to
  15.       voice  his  or her opinions or offer their suggestions to the network.

  17.       For  PCBoard  we support RoseMail, Rnet, Qnet and Cam-Mail,  and other
  18.       BBS's use QWiKerNet, Jnet, GAPQwk software. Our  our  membership  inc-
  19.       ludes  PCBoard,  Wildcat, Gap, Spitfire, TriBBS, and more, all working
  20.       together seamlessly! We are  officially  a  QWK-based  network  so  no
  21.       PostLink  and  no  additional  PCRelay  applicants.   Sorry  folks....

  23.       Intelec  also  has among it's membership several author-supported con-
  24.       ferences  and authors who support their software in one of  our  other
  25.       conferences  such  as BBS-Door, SysOps, PCBoard, Communication & more.
  26.       Vic Kass of RoseMail,  Fred Brucker {Commo},  Tsung  Hu  of  Telemate/
  27.       Giflite,  Stacy  Smith  of ULP, and direct support of OLX/SLMR/QModem/
  28.       Wildcat from the folks at MSI! Many others grace the  Intelec  Network
  29.       as  well!  Tech  support is never far off! We're also sharing CDCs PCB
  30.       support forum with RIME, Fido for maximum support. Also in Intelec  is
  31.       Raymond  Clements the author of DORPATCH and other fine BBS door prog-
  32.       rams! We also offer the fantastic services  of   Quarterdeck  Canada's
  33.       Michael Bolton!

  35.                            About the Intelec Founder

  38.        In mid 1989 there was a need for a network based on the  philosophy
  39.        that  a network can be administrated  without all the "politics and
  40.        petty personality clashes"  which are still very widespread  today.
  41.        While  Intelec, as most networks did, started out rather small, our
  42.        growth was more rapid than most.  Growth  can cause severe  growing
  43.        pains  in some networks but it did not seem to affect Intelec as we
  44.        always maintained a keen focus on what was important.  For as  long
  45.        as  the focus is maintained, Intelec will always be one of the more
  46.        popular networks available to any BBS's users.

  48.        Intelec was previously named NetPro but that name was  short-lived.
  49.        Intelec  Online,  in operation since October of 1985,  was the host
  50.        system for the Intelec Network  and soon after the network  adopted
  51.        its  name.  The Intelec Network was founded by Cliff Watkins and it
  52.        was molded with the help of folks like Dave Calmer, Gordon  Lincoln
  53.        and  many others. Cliff's vision of how a network should be run was
  54.        unique in the respect that he felt  at  home  being  "down  in  the
  55.        trenches"  and not  behind some committee of bureaucratic red tape.

  57.        Sadly,  Cliff is no longer the administrator of the Intelec Network
  58.        but his vision will continue  through those of us he has  inspired.
  59.        In  May of 1993 Cliff passed the torch to a veteran Intelec member,
  60.        Dave Calmer.  Cliff and Dave are longtime friends  and  both  share
  61.        the  same  vision  of how the Intelec Network should be run. Cliff,
  62.        known to his comrades as  "The Benevolent Dictator"  was unique  in
  63.        how  he operated the network.  His sense of fairness, gentle nature
  64.        and insights were key to Intelec's success.  And this success  will
  65.        continue  under the leadership of Dave Calmer. Cliff will be missed
  66.        almost as much as Cliff will miss doing what he loved most. But  if
  67.        there's  one thing you can count on, it's that he will always be in
  68.        the  hearts  and  minds  of  those   of   us   inspired   by   him.
